My midline is off by 1mm and my orthodontist said that I have no room to move my teeth, but I just had my wisdom teeth removed and I was told by another orthodontist that I do have room. Now I dont know what to do ..
Gaby Vargas what’ve u been up to? My wisdom teeth is extracted too. Did you do ur braces
My elastic rubberbands are like this It hurts my Jaw so much. So painful I'm crying 😭 I felt the impact to my ear.
@@apollo5458 Don't worry it depends on the elastic rubberbands level of thickness. I had a super thick rubberbands last month and I only wear it in just 3 days coz I can't handle the pain I swear I'm crying & I can't sleep. When I had my appointment last week my doctor change my elastics into not just super thick 3.5 rbands. But If you can handle the pain and you can still sleep it's alright. The pain only last for 3-5 days I think.
What if the bottom is centered but the top is off? I had a gap held open while a tooth was rotated and now the top is off 3 mm.
+ai van it's difficult to answer your question without evaluating your records!
to keep the answer as simple as possible, if there is no space on the upper to shift the midline, doing the rubber band as shown on the video shift both upper and lower midlines.
Is it move the bottom teeth? what to do if the upper teeth are not aligned? Can I only move the upper teeth on this way?
What if both top and bottom are in line, but they are both off-center to the face?
Hi! How long would it take to fix my midline?
Hi Apollo! This really helps. I'm 25 and I'm currently wearing my rubber for 2 months already and it seems like there's no change. I guess my age and issue of my midline is really the problem. Is there any way to fix it asap? Like surgery or what? I really appreciate you answering my question urgently.
I didn’t use to have a midline issue but cause my canine moved in when I got braces my bite is now slanted. I raised this to my dentist but he just told me nah your teeth are fine. :/
my midline is off by 1-2 mm when I bite down, my orthodontist isn't doing much to help it. When I open my mouth to talk, my bottom jaw moves a bit to the side. If I use this oblique method, will it solve the midline issue, jaw issue, or both? How long should it take to fix?
+Felix Chen Felix, sometimes upper and lower midlines won't coincide even if the bite is perfect. it's mostly because of the size difference between upper and lower front teeth. In this situation your orthodontist may choose to place your upper midline and keep the lower one off.
on the other hand if they can both be aligned the midline elastic will help. there are a few other factors plays important role on the position of the midline. Please discuss your concerns with your orthodontist and keep us posted about the result.
+AvA Orthodontics & Invisalign Just wondering, how long should it be worn in order to have effect? Would it be permanent? Would the bottom teeth move past the midline if it is worn too much/overtime?
all the alternative in our favor for 1mm or correction it takes a few months. Patient does not need to wear it permanently. and yes if worn too much it will result in over correction.
If worn during the wrong stage of the treatment and not on a proper wire, it will affect your bite! therefore, we do not recommend to wear any type of elastics without your orthodontist permission.
keep us posted.
My midline is off by 3mm to the left and had my right lower teeth off a bit from the upper teeth. It made me uncomfortable in chewing on the right side. My dr said he wants to get my braces off after one or two appointments which i am still not satisfied with the result. Is this trick possible for my case? My dr seems want to ignore this problem and wanna get it off sooner. I only had my braces for 1 year and 9 months. I would want to discuss with him soon to get it fixed if this is fixable
Hi! Based on your comment 2 years ago, I suppose you managed it. May I know did you eventually get it fixed?
I have an asymmetrical face and my bottom teeth are centered but my top aren’t. Will this process help?
Anahi S. I got jaw surgery because I had an overbite. It sounds like you may have hone as well, my surgery costed around 4K I lost 10 pounds in a month but it’s worth it
my midline is off by about 1.5mm and i get my braces off the next time i visit the orthodontist. i was told to put my elastics on the same way you would for an overbite. will it be fixed by the time i get them off? (two months)
how do you prevent canting?
What if one side is class 1 other side is class 3 then what?
how much time do i have to wear them , my orthodontist said 2-3 weeks and nothing happened they didn't move at all and i have like 2mm off midline :(( I've been wearing it for 5 weeks for now
Heyy how did it got with ur braces is ur midline correct now??
what do you do when you have a mild deep bite and the midline?
I think first fix deep bite with rubberbands/our something idk. Then later on when its fixed wear rubber bands for midline. Idk im not a dental profetional our a orthodontist lol
Is it okay if I put the bands over my other teeth because for more comfort will it still work ??
Super super excellent....reply please reply please
Can this really get fixed? My orthodontist told me that I need surgery to get my midline straight..
Hi trisbeauty,
I hope this response isn't too late. Depending on how much deviation from the midline there is, you may be able to fix it purely using elastics. If the deviation is around 4mm or less, then elastics may be able to do the trick. However, if it's more than that, you may have to end up doing surgery. Please note that in extreme circumstances, even surgery won't fully correct the midline. Having a picture of your bite and teeth would be super helpful in giving you a more definite answer.
Quite a misleading video. In reality, its not this simple and result achieved from this type of elastic pattern will quickly relapse, and may even introduce an unwanted cant.
Same on my teeth
Patty, it can be fixed without a surgery if the problem is withing the teeth alignment. Surgery will be a solution if there is asymmetry within the jaw.
AvA Orthodontics & Invisalign where do you live??? I wanna do braces with u
