What an amazing video and performance, finally a keyboard that really gives you the feeling of what a hammond B3 with a leslie sounds like, I've heard so many other ones like the tyros 5, nord, Yamaha YC61, Farfisa vip 255 and this one it's indeed the closest to the real one.
It's true, in fact this Vr09 although not a top of the range and quality like other brands, you can get an excellent sound like a Hammond, and the simulation of the Leslie is not bad either. For its low cost it is a great product with excellent sounds of Synth Pianos and Organs. Thanks for watching my friend 🙂
Hello my friend just found this video in my feed yesterday, I looked for videos of the VR-09 when I purchased mine 3 yrs ago but never found yours...great video, sound is awesome, one of my most favorite songs, i remember when it came out LOL...wish you could tab it out for me but I know that is probably an unreasonable request...gonna subscribe to your channel my friend !!!...
Hi my friend, I'm very happy that you liked my video. The Vr09 is truly a very versatile keyboard with beautiful sounds, and I like to play songs by famous and iconic bands like this with various keyboards to share with all my keyboardist friends what the sounds are like to give an idea. Regarding tablature, I play as a hobby but I haven't studied music, it's all passion, but for anything if I can help you I'll try to give my best. Have a nice day my friend
Perfect ,no mistake on any single note.Sounds the original fingers of Procol Harum. Please give the chords because you follow the original Key of Procol Harum. Thanks man.
The way you play you study Piano lessons when you're a kid.I also know the beginning of the song whether it starts with Major or Minor chords, just by ears. But in this type of song it needs perfection in every finger movement. Thanks anyway.
You're right my friend and I'm sorry, but in this video I thought I'd make more of the "Hammond" sound that Roland produces instead of a more accurate performance of this famous song 🙂
Gonna grab one of these to add to the collection. The organs seem very nice in this price range. Only thing I noticed was the fast/slow on the leslie simulator were immediate rather than over time. Does anyone know if it can be stretched over a couple of seconds like a real leslie? That would almost be a deal breaker if not.
Yes, if you want you can also stretch a few seconds by changing the control parameters of the leslie simulation. Independent parameters can be changed between the tweeter and woofer. Thanks for watching, Have a good Day my friend!
I know this is a very late reply but I just found this video in my UA-cam feed... I have the VR-09B and in the menu go to rotary settings, there are 8 indepent settings for the Leslie effect, 4 for woofer and 4 for the tweeter...slow speed, fast speed, rise speed and fall speed, there you go. it is so customizable...I paid a grand for mine a few years ago, my first real keyboard, I love it...hope you purchased one as well my friend.
Hi friend , I Don't Remember very well the position of drawbars playing the Song... The First position , Classic 8880000 And so , i thing 8884558 ... But not Shure
Howdy, Nuno, there is a couple of youtube videos of tutorials of this song where they show the drawbars settings, search up the tutorial of whiter shade of pale nord, from my keys to music. Hope this helps you. Regards from Portugal as well ;)
Hy Jack , through the keyboard menu, I assigned the controller expression to the (rotary fast / slow) function, so I used a pedal to sustain in "damper input" and another to make rotary switching in "expression pedal input"
Hello my friend, in this video I connected the Roland in stereo to a Behringer Xenyx 1202fx mixer and the outputs sent to 2 Gemini RS 408 Loudspeaker. The audio recording was done live by connecting the RCA outputs to the Zoom H2 recorder.
@@MrPianorgan Thanks so much for your quick response.Your playing style really influence me.Last month I purchased a Roland Combo VR 09-B.Your way of playing the Hammond drawbar organ on the keyboard caused my purchase.Your setup is awesome. I will be following you with your newly updated live performances. With my best regards...

Amazing performance! I am curious, what drawbar settings are you using for the song?
I do not remember exactly which setting I used ... I think a 85800000 and 85800808, Rock Organ of VR09
I just mine today, not opened the box yet
Nice !! Did you use the mono output or the stereo?
Stereo outputs my friend 🙂

Which organ did you select on the Roland for this song?
Rock organ
How are you switching rotary speeds, please?
Hy Jack ,
through the keyboard menu, I assigned the controller expression to the (rotary fast / slow) function, so I used a pedal to sustain in "damper input" and another to make rotary switching in "expression pedal input"
Okay, I see. Thank you! So what do you do for expression pedal? Just run the organ's signal through a regular volume pedal?
Jack Lyon
As an expression pedal I use a pedal sustain, about the volume I set it manually with the knob on the board
What pa system do you use, sir? What brand of loudspeakers do you have in action? Thanks in advance.
