Since I'm seeing common questions I'll answer here. As for the direction of the grill, it's easily rotated to 4 different positions, I much prefer all openings to the front to keep from walking circles. I'm constantly adjusting the main damper, adding wood and watching the meat. Not to mention it looks better this way. I've already cooked a few times on it and it works great this way. Keep watching, I do show a diffuser plate for indirect heating, a future project might be a plate with holes to perfectly fan out the heat, we can do whatever we want with accessories. There are grooves cut into the 6x6 tube in the grill to allow fat to drain and burn in the chamber, I didn't show that in the build. I'll edit this as repeat questions keep coming, thanks for watching and the support.
I really hope sharing our thoughts isn't gona grow too loud, for me, watching someone exercise their imagination and building things, awakens a similar drive in my imagination and it feels really good. Thanks for all the inspiration and will try not to be too much of a back seat imagineer lol.
@@hammerslap5639 not at all, I love the feedback and want this to turn into a long build series, especially for the next cookers that are coming. With that said, if I see repeat questions it's better to address those early instead of repeating myself over and over. It takes a busy night of responding and cuts down on some of the same things. Take care!
Just a suggestion for future builds. If you are concerned your cylinder is slightly out of round, do not use it as a templet for the sides. Do "the math" and take the 48" circumference and calculate a 15.28" circle. Then fit the cylinder to the new sides. It will then be round. Love the builds, keep them coming!
I was honestly playing around and I have created something we love. We did pork steaks last night and Tiffany and I honestly believe it's the best we've ever had. The ability to smoke and then immediately sear over open flames is awesome.
I was absolutely enthralled by 5 minutes into this video! Had a few questions that were answered in the video as well as in the comments. The got super excited and knew exactly what you were putting together when you started the cup holder addition! But to add the hook for the thermostat and fire poker…🤯🤯🤯!!! Love the modified way of attachment with the pins, too! Can’t wait to see the videos that come out as you get it dialed in as a smoker/sear/grill combo! Absolutely amazed by this attachment! Way to go! I think this has been one of my favorite videos for the rocket stove by far! Love it! Love it! Love it!

Another classic video. You're Ideas are amazing. That's a business right there, with the different attachments and custom built. If you go into production I will definitely get one No matter the cost. #Amazing... 👍
I built a rocket grill a couple of years ago, but took the easy way out. I had an old Weber gas grill. I gutted it and cut a 4" square hole in the bottom. I had built the rocket out of an old "lolly column"...it already had a square base to it. It works just like yours. You can shut the lid and smoke (we have tons of hardwood) or rev it up and sear steaks or burgers.
Love watching all your videos. But this one is right up my alley! I build smokers and love to see new ideas. This is pretty awesome! It's awesome what yall have done with your whole property. I see it's been a lot of hard work and effort. Keep it up and we'll keep watching.
Definitely a really nice addition to the rocket stove for sure!!! I’ve actually been watching different videos of people making rocket stoves and trying to figure out exactly how I’d like to make my own but when I do I’m definitely going to make a nice grill top like you have made here!!! Awesome video buddy!!! Now I definitely am going to go watch the video of you making a multiple rocket stove setup with a big wide flattop over the top!!!
Sweet!! Used my XLock grinder for the first time a couple of weeks ago, Bosch was on to something there! Now for your next project, I want you to build an offset smoker on the jet with a double wall minwool insulated cooking chamber
Great build! I might suggest welding 1 inch grounding braid alongside the backside of the lid-body junction, which is flexible and will help contain the smoke when closed. As a difuser, you may also use a ceramic tile, which might be effective preventing a hot spot in the middle of the grill, which often happen with pellet smokers and, since this baby has a direct fire coming up, this also applies. It will also help protect the drip pan.
I think he had to take into account of having it not top heavy and potentially flipping. I think the metal he used is plenty enough. Plus he painted it to prevent rusting on the outside. The whole thing is built much better then any store would make. Looks like a complete success to me..👍🏽💥 Would love to taste a steak 🥩 cooked on the New, Bbq Smoken Rocket 🚀
Andrew, another fantastic build! That grill turned out amazing. You are a very talented young man. Looks like a Tig welding machine is one of the next tools you need to add to your arsenal of metal working and fabrication tools. 😊
Hey y'all. To help see the lines when I score sheet metal, (aviation) I use a thick black marker that extenuates the score line. I realize you were getting away from a sharpie because of the film on the steel which will absolutely ruin a sharpie, with just one touch. It is a throw away at that point...lol True story. However, a little Isopropyl or acetone should provide a clean enough surface where you need to mark. A light dose of quick drying flat primer works too. It makes your score line shine, no matter how hot it gets when cutting. Love the channel. Just a little personal experience from an aircraft mechanic. With that said, we are working with precision cuts mostly with a +/- .030" tolerance. But, when accuracy matters and/or lighting sucks....a good option brother.
That welding table has become your new playground, so much fun and useful as well! Portable one will be great to have! P.S. You know you don't have to measure the circumference of the circle, just measure across and multiply by pi, 3.14?🤣

I've been thinking of doing a project like this for a long time. But health problems have put a stop to that for how! One thing that I was going to do was off set it to one side. It would be more like cooking in a barrel pit, with your fire on one side. I'm thinking with the size of grill you have, it would give you room for 2 or more rack of ribs. And your drip pan will not be getting as hot. But it looks like it's going great as is! Hope this helps! Great looking grill! Y'all stay safe
Love the idea of this rocket grill! It's definitely gonna be a great steak and burger grill. I'm very interested to see how it does with some low and slow cooks like ribs or boston butts. I think you may end up needing a thicker deflector plate for that, but time will tell. Subbing to follow these cooks!
That grill is awesome!! Any chance you can do a short vid on seasoning your grill, I struggle every year with mine and your explanations in all your vids are great!!

The top can definitely be moved and each direction. I just perfer in in this direction so I can feed the fire and air while I am near. Its not to hot for me personally.
