Wow. This was painful to watch. What happened to Tejano? Remember when the awards were filled with who’s who like Ram Herrera, Gary Hobbs, Jay Perez, Michael Salgado, Ruben Ramos, Joe Lopez, Elida, Stephany Lynn, like all these huge power players just gone.
Now it’s like a High School talent show. Just Sad.

So, my prediction: the new superstar is going to be Maria Paula........she has the GIFT......you can tell right away............the voice and the stage presence......undeniable....natural...she has IT.........
There will be no superstar. To say Tejano is “regional” is a HUGE understatement. Unless you’re already a mainstay and well known Tejano artist held over from the golden age of the 80s and 90s, there will be no new HUGE stars. Tejano’s reach is not far enough to create superstars like it did back in the day. I assure you any new artist planning on sticking around Tejano will have to have a full time job, because if they are looking to get big from Tejano music, it’s just NOT gonna happen.
Either that or switch genres that has a wider audience net to cast. But Tejano is not the vehicle to use if you wanna become famous or a star.

Its seems that Tejano is going the wrong direction most of the bands I heard is not Tejano. Called it what you want but only a couple of bands sounded like real Tejano no wonder Tejano is no longer heard in The RGV Texas

The Musicians played awesome! but the live audio was horrible! The announcers sounded well balanced, why were the bands sounding like they were playing out of a can, can we get a better live band streaming audio engineer next time please? I think my phone mic would have had a better sound quality.

When will they release a new album and get nominated for a TMA award. They won 4 years ago and deserved it, unfortunately the venue was an embarrassment to all TMA awards, with all due respect RNYLG style is too old and simple (but I can jam them all day), and conjunto has evolved in the last 30 years, there are plenty of modern conjuntos that aren't getting the support they need (from conjunto purists that can't get out of the 90s) , so they're turning to Norteño lite instead, hell it pays better and there's more international support than in their own backyard.
