Great video! I found this super helpful, the only downside is that the TC8 is missing so many good features. A lot of missed opportunities but I'm sure Poly can implement them soon (keyboard).
Great video, looking into the Poly x30, and after seeing this video it will be the next Teams meeting room client. We have experience with Logitech meetup and Logitech rally, but they require an dedicated computer like HP slice of Lenovo or other brands, So this solution will be much cheaper and it seems very good.
thx a lot for your videos. looks like a perfect machine for small rooms. i hope Poly will add a full keyboard to the TC8 in the future. should not be that hard. would improve the installation process and handling in daily use.
Thank you for providing a helpful video. I do have one question, do you have to sign in with a Teams account or can you just press the JOIN option and key in the meeting number?
You must sign in to the Teams app in order to use it. The account is typically a shared "Room" account, and stays signed in. So, when you click "Join", you are joining using that account. There is not another way to join meetings from a Microsoft Teams Rooms system.
Any idea if the X30 supports a dual TV setup? I noticed in the Audio/Video settings there was Input 1 and 2 but not sure how the X30 physically connects to 2 TVs.
Hey Josh! Great tutorial and walkthrough as usual! We're looking to buy either a X30 or X50 potentially with a touch monitor, or a TC8 controller, so this was awesome. Quick question though, if you want the Studio X30/50 to sit in a meeting room as a standalone device connected as a resource in a specific meeting room, do you need to have a separate Microsoft license for the X30? My ideal scenario would be that the X30 sits in that room (call it the "Small Meeting Room"), and whenever someone books that meeting room, the X30 automatically shows that meeting as about to start in the room, and the user can just start the meeting from let's say the TC8, and then from their computer (with no HDMI cable attached to the computer), start sharing their desktop or PPT or whatever, and then that shows up both on the monitor that's hooked up to the X30, as well as to any meeting participants in the room. I'm guessing this is possible?
Yes, the monitor for the X30 should display the shared meeting content, just the same as any other meeting participants. As for the account that is signed in to the X30 - yes, it will require a license. Getting a 'Meeting Room' license might be best in this scenario.
Hi Josh, Thank you for the video, it's great and appears to provide more information than the Poly website! I don't suppose you know, but is this suitable for users coming into a room and signing into their own Teams accounts? I understand the concept of having a room account, such as the Logitech with Tap but the job I am looking at want users to be able to log in to the room system using their own accounts? Do you think this would be viable? Thanks, Steve
Is there a reason why it isn't made obvious (especially in Poly's documentation on their website) that the Operating System for the X30 and X50 are Android-based and not Windows 10 Enterprise IoT? I've been researching a lot of systems and just assumed (my bad, I know) that these Poly systems had the same O/S as the G10-T, G40-T, and G85-T. :(
The X30 and X50 fall into the "Collaboration Bar" category of Teams devices, and all the Collaboration Bars run Android. Any Teams-certied room device that has its compute built-in is running Android. The Windows 10 devices are running their OS on a separate compute device, like the Intel NUC or other small form factor PC.
Since the TC8 is pair with the Studio X50/X30, what happens if you break damage the TC8 and have to purchase another one? Is there a way Poly can pair the replacement TC8 with the existing Studio X50/X30?
Great question, and I don't have the exact answer, BUT, I believe it does have to be Poly mode in order to be used as a USB device, if memory serves me correctly...
My poly TC8 keeps saying “launching room controller, please wait...” and never changes. Any suggestions on why that would happen? It says the cameras and microphones are disconnected but they are plugged in
Not that I am aware of, but that would be pretty nice. However, MTRs now have support for scheduling/joining a Zoom meeting from a Microsoft Teams Room system.
When you switch providers it will factory reset the device. Also this is a "collaboration bar" and not a MTR device as it runs Android. So the Zoom meeting within Teams is not available. Something we found out the hard way.
Ho josh i have a problem with X30 and User credential, when you use a user teams the proximity function dont work...but when a use a ressource account it work fine. No call with user but call work with Ressource User
Hmmm...the only thing that comes to mind in this scenario (if I understand it correctly) is if the user account was not properly licensed. The licensing requirements for a Resource Account only require a free license, but a User account requires all the proper paid licensing. Could this come into play in your scenario?
@@ExpertOfThings I got the answer, for the moment the Teams application on the conference bars is nothing more and nothing less than the android application hacked for the occasion...in short a piece of shit. Microsoft is working on a real application that will be released in December. That's why it only works with a resource account among others. And above all that's why the TC8 interface is a disaster.

Nice! Airplay is it supported on both x30 and x50 ? and in wish mode
Amaizing video!
There is any possible microphone expansion for this unit? Maybe connected to the TC8 screen?
I am unsure about that. I would suggest checking out the manufacturer's site for options.
why in my case, the sign in ms.teams, and the controller button in tablet not showed up sir?
Very presentation video and very informative 👏
Hello, when you join the Teams meeting on the Poly X30, is there a option to record the meeting?

We have experience with Logitech meetup and Logitech rally, but they require an dedicated computer like HP slice of Lenovo or other brands, So this solution will be much cheaper and it seems very good.
Thanks! Yeah, it all depends on the size of the conference room that you are planning for, when comparing those device options.

Apparently, it does not support dual TV setup. The X50 and X70 do support dual TV setups.
Can you switch between Microsoft Teams and Zoom meetings?
Hi Josh, can you control poly x30 with pc,laptop or mobile or you can just control it with tc8 and touchscreen display.
Great video btw 😀👍
Hi the POE Injector is in the box?Thank you
No.

Hi Josh, Phil here in Jax. Does the USB device mode work when using Microsoft Teams Mode? Or do you have to change the system to Poly mode to do this?

@@ExpertOfThings You are correct - I found a recent Poly video stating Device Mode doesn't work on Teams

Sorry, unfortunately I am not sure why that would be happening. You may need to engage Support for that...
Can you easily toggle between it being a Teams device vs a Zoom Room Device (as an end user, not on the admin side)? Like a boot option?

Wait, did you just go over something that said the US Government is using this technology to monitor users of this device?
That was just a configurable banner for the web interface. The default was just a sample with some DoD stuff....
