RodeoCanChaser31 why didn’t you like the bleach part? just wondering. but with personal experience i find it doesn’t harm too much if used with caution or diluted but it’s very good at killing the bacteria and drying the hoof if it’s been wet for too long. just person experience:)
Personally I feel like it's too harsh. With thrush, a lot of times the frog has been damaged or eaten away and I find bleach can hinder that frog growing back. You want to protect that frog until it's healthy again and therefore won't be as prone to thrush. With bleach, you're also hurting that frog rebuilding. I prefer diluted chlorohexidine or even Lysol. I also like to use a non caustic topical. I like the dac hoof therapy a lot.
I am so frustrated because we have horrible mud. Pasture with shelters but no barn. I can clean the hooves and pick them, but they have to go back out in it. I feel like a terrible horse owner!😭
