- Hi All!
I love, love, love charcoal and ink portraits and plan to do more. In fact, I started a "Charcoal Portraits" Playlist. For this gal, I couldn't just leave her be. I had to add other media to make her more artistic!
MATERIALS:
CANVAS: 6x9 140lb watercolor paper (Artist's Loft)
ACRYLICS: DecoArt Buttermilk, FolkArt Antique White (Light Cream)
CHALK PASTELS: Black pastel pencil
PENCILS: No. 2, charcoal
PENS: Arteza Black Real Brush Pen, Bic Grip Black Gel Pen
EMPHEMERA: Number Ticket (Tim Holtz kit)
MARKINGS: Newspaper transfer technique
TOOLS: Small and large flat bristle brushes, small and large blending stump, kneaded eraser
Thank you for watching! Enjoy!
Ann :) xo

I love to use pastel pencils and charcoal too, they're so forgiving. Great when you came in with the buttermilk acrylic and took the perfection away. Well, she's even more perfect now. Wonderful, thank you Ann!
Thank you, Mieke! I am easing my way into using charcoal. I have a small studio and might need to use my tabletop easle, but filming and lighting would be tricky. For now, I will do mixed media pieces like this one. It was a joy to do. I'm glad you like it. Your pieces must be amazing!! xo

Im going to be trying this, maybe even tonight! I think i have everything needed. I dont have charcoal stick but i know i have a charcoal pencil somewhere. So beautiful.
Hi & thabk you, Mickey! You can use a #2 pencil if you have clear gesso because the grit in the clear gesso seriously holds the graphite, and it goes on practically like charcoal. Have fun! Let me know how it goes! xo
Sooo pretty and soft!
