Missing You Already Dude....Rest In Peace Mr Ronnie Montrose.......
In Memory Of One Of Rock And Roll Legends...Mr Ronnie Montrose....One Of The NICEST People I Have The Honor Of Meeting And Talking To ....You ROCK RONNIE !
RIP Man......Miss You ....~~WW~~
Saw this man with Gamma at Great America. Before the show's start, Ronnie appeared from a Trailer in the back of the grounds with the most beautiful woman on his arm we had ever seen. The crowd parted like the Red Sea as she and he walked unaccompanied to the stage. We were teenagers, we were in AWE of the Man, the Myth, the Legend. A memory not to be forgotten, not by this teenager at least. Ronnie Montrose, a legend...........RIP.
Saw him at at a casino in the middle of nowhere just before he died . Very much worth the 8 hour drive. Never realized how much he influenced my playing
Never forget Ronnie Montrose.
Still an amazing guitarist. So sad he's passed away.
Weird how the human mind works! A woman yells out from the crowd "We Love you Ronnie" and he responds by saying "Right back at you babe"... which is a beautiful connection - and months later he takes his own life. You never know what is going on in one's world, and what heartache they may or may not be experiencing. RIP sir, you made a huge impact on so many!
Anyone know why he took his life?
Broke my heart dude. Didn't know.
Always loved the music.
@@motorcitymanman7711 Depression man, its a killer. Drinking hard, having to deal with a way younger wife. I have lots of details of those last few hours and its not like him.
@@tedvincent50
My wife of 35 years is dieing of a failed Liver from alcohol abuse as we speak.....she's suffered from depression for decades but refused to get help.
@@motorcitymanman7711 Sorry to hear that man. Life is pretty rough all over.
I wrote Ronnie that I searched for 15 years for his Speed of Sound CD, he mailed me a copy for free! I named my female Dalmatian "Ronni" after him, so ya, he was AWSOME!
I sent him an email telling him how much and influence he’s been on me with Montrose and Gamma. He sent me Gamma 4 before it had been released. He was so kind.
Man Ronnie was one of my idols growing up and miss him so much. RIP The Great Ronnie Montrose we love you and miss you!!
Montrose by Montrose Easily one of the best debut albums in the history of rock ‘n’ roll. God bless you Ronnie RIP!
unquestionably
Gamma 1, 2 , 3 are great too !
One of the best melodic rock hard band ever
Relaxed and confident, playing at his best .. then a few months later he was gone. As a society we need to do a much better job of treating mental illness 😢
I was at this show. Beyond gracious was the brilliant Ronnie Montrose. In my book, the best.
surely will avoid that book... the cringe has to be of the tall order.
@@DormantIdeasNIQ What the hell ever that's supposed to mean...
@@matthewingman4473
Must not believe Ronnie was the best
@@ericwalters5382 fact of the matter is, he was one of my all time favorite guitarists, but there's no such thing as "best" in the world of music. Only favorites because it will always be subjective. At any rate, I was replying to @DormantIdeasNIQ's comment because I had and still have no idea what that comment is supposed to mean.
@@deanharris5004
I'm keenly aware that you were replying to his comments. I just think he's implying Montrose isn't the best in HIS book. As long as we can all agree Ace Frehley sucks the rest is superfluous.
The loss of Ronnie a decade ago was a huge blow to rock.
Best rock guitarist. Ever.
Guy sounds just like Davey Pattison. Miss you Ronnie and I always will.
I thought that was Davey
I'm not a guitar player, a lot of guitarists are all flash. When you get a guitar player that makes you yearn for that next note and you can already feel it when you never even heard the song before....THAT is someone special, thank you Ronnie!!! "Life is funny, but I ain't laughin"
He was a true Rock Legend.
I cannot tell you how many times in the 70s I saw him in the Bay Area, before it was called Silicon Valley.
Just the Bay Area. I introduced him to decades of kids who, even today ask me "Where is this person playing" and I just tell them he plays for God now.
That statement blows their minds. Clue Less
😎
Capital theater with Gamma around 1980 was amazing.
I saw his last show. That just makes it hurt more that he's not with us.
I seen Gamma open for AcDc, highway to hell tour. Ronnie sounded great in Market Square Arena
The late, great, great Ronnie Montrose. Thanks thewildwizard.
Inspiration! What a performance! Too bad Ronnie's not with us but at least we have videos like this to remember him by.
I have to say, when I Found out I was going to run sound for this show, I was scared To death... It was a great show...
Bob Elliott Well it sounds to me like you nailed it. The sound was perfect, thank you!
JordyNorm Thank You :-)
LOL...you nailed it, thank you!!
@@trowerz Thank You
Sounds terrific!
One of the best shows I have EVER seen was GAMMA at the Stone in San Francisco on New Years eve in 1990 !! For any of you fellow Bay Area locals, the opening band was a GREAT "unknown" guitarist from Santa Cruz named Pat McCormack who is virtually unknown but also a very melodic and tasty player much like Ronnie. I used to catch Ronnie at One Step Beyond down in Santa Clara from about 1990 - 1993 and EVERY show gave me goose bumps. RIP Ronnie. There will never be another musician like you... ♫♫♫
I came back from Europe in '92 and my wife and I caught Gamma with Ronnie and Davey at One Step Beyond. I'd seen Montrose in various incarnations a few times previously at Winterland the previous decades but I was so glad I got to see Gamma. Awesome show!
The stone! How about the old Waldorf
great video - thanks for sharing, my friend
Besides being one of the greatest guitar players ever, there was something about Ronnie that made people flock to him, I don't know what it is and certainly I cannot put words to it. RIP. Ronnie Montrose.
Depression sucks he was a great Guitarist and missed
RIP Ronnie Montrose....You will be forever missed and remembered....🎸🔥💪👊🙏
I saw Gamma at Day on the Green, August 2, 1981. Great show.
What a great singer, great find Ronnie... RIP
Great live version of this song
Would have loved to hear a collaboration between Ronnie Montrose and Robin Trower.
Excellent
Ronnie always pops up whenever I open UA-cam. I started playing guitar at about 15 in 78. Listened to KSan and Kome in the SF SouthEastBay. KFRC in the earlier 70's. Make it Last was one of our garage bands songs. First saw him 12/31/79. A few shows later I got to meet Ronnie in. 86 in Cocoa Beach FL. Very cool gracious guy and a virtuoso. Sure wish he could have stayed with us as a wise old sage. RIP Ronnie. I still Rock Out to your catalog, and play Make it Last often, in your honor.
KMAC/KISS in San Antonio used to play the fuck out of all the great rock bands, Montrose being one. We had to tune into after hours weak FM college stations here in the DC area to hear it.

A True Guitar Legend (Montrose, Gamma, solo . . ) !!!
I was lucky to see Ronnie Montrose in person when he played with Edgar Winter group at the Hollywood Paladium. Man he made a believer out of me! RIP
Ronnie could have beat pots and pans as far as I'm concerned...one of the greatest axe masters that ever was...the man had chops....and don't u ever forget it...
thanks for posting this, I was a big Ronnie Montrose fan from the Bay Area when he was playing solo or with Gamma In all the small clubs. he's truly inspired my guitar playing - and when someone ask's me who my favorite guitarist is, he's always is #1 with me. Rest in Peace Brother. as Stevie's version of Little Wing his brother found on tape after he passed away, this song Voyager brings it home to me & was truly Ronnie putting it out there - heart & soul. what a nice version to leave us with in remembrance of a great Guitarist & human being.
You probably saw him at the Avalon down in SJ about this same time
I forgot about this song, then I heard it a couple of days ago on XM Deep Tracks...I used to own this record. Love you Ronnie.
Do yourself a favor and buy all 3 GAMMA Albums ( CD's ) Remastered by Rock Candy Records!! You'll thank me later if you're as big a Ronnie fan as I am :) Peace! ♫
RIP Ronnie! In a profession of skunks you were a good man!
Freakin' amazing guitar solo.
just picked up some nice Bose over the ear headphones, just replaced the ear cushions, this was the first song I listened to. WOW. Great sound from a Great picker. RIP Mr. Montrose.
How could there possibly be a single thumbs down on this? WTF
Exactly Michael! Insane, right?
Must have been a member of that infamous kazoo band...
RIP Ronnie !! The Bay Area misses you down here... ♥ ♫ ♫ ♫
Just beautiful...the singer is terrific could someone please tell me his name and Ronnie..........your playing is sooooooooooo tasteful
Randy Scoales is the singer from Sacramento
Damn this is so good!
He was marvelous and a huge inspiration to me as a player.
For an American guitarst, this fabulous musician was off the chain! We miss u dearly! Luv-u
What a great great guitarist Ronnie was...
Beautiful soloing, his playing grows and breathes at the right time.
I didn't know ...
Sorry and sad to hear ...
One of my biggest influences as I was evolving as a guitarist during my teens
Im not old but i loved Gamma in the 70s.......
one of the few that can make his guiter sing
So sad that Ronnie left us the way he did. Such a talented guitarist, songwriter & musician...
The late, great, great Ronnie Montrose. Thanks thewildwizard
The singing is quite good, comes very close to the original singer, defintetely hats off to that, as it certainly isn't easy to find the right replacement !
Yes the singer is so close to Davey Pattinson excellent sound
just wow emotional as hell
legend!!!!!!
That singer has it down.
❤❤❤❤❤❤
Awesome! Thanks for sharing this, James!
RIP my all time favorite, you were a true master!
I certainly miss Ronnie! Just think that 4 months later on from this footage he took his own life! I got to see him up close in a Basement setting in a very small venue of people at the Blueberry Hill Club in St. Louis Mo. Years before this footage. He reached out, and shook my hand from stage, and gave me his guitar pick. R.I.P. Ronnie!
Wow. Excellent performance with grace and power. Great vocals accompaniment to the master. All are exceptional professionals making this one of the best live performances ever. You can see the impro-visions of Ronnie's genius mindset at work. Wish I was there to capture this moment in time. Thank you for this uplifting video.
My Pleasure Ronnie Was Truly 1 of a Kind, Extremly Talented, He Had ☆☆ The Gift☆☆ RIP 🙏 Ronnie and Thank You For All Your Kindness ....and So Humble, NEVER Refused to Sign Anything for Me And Chatting With Him Was The Best .....Love Ya Ronnie , ANY MANY THANX ....BLESSINGS 🙏 🙏🧙♂️Wild Wizard 🧙♂️🙏
Why Ronnie Why we loved you!!
Ronnie Cracked the Code he makes it look easy GreatFeeL
Thanks Wild Wizard. I may be way way off but I think I may have been right next to you in the heat zone at Marquee 15 In Corona on 11-11-11. Last of 32 Ronnie concerts I was blessed to experience. Were you at that Marquee 15 concert? I remember standing right next to someone in the heat zone at the front of the stage and the guy next to me me was videoing the entire concert Kelly Atwell sang for Ronnie and I snapped the picture that Leighsa, Ronnie's wife has used at the official profile picture at Ronnie Montrose Official since 2013... The intense trippy picture that looks like LeRoy Neiman painting of Ronnie.
Can you guys imagine what would have happened if Ronnie and Sammy stayed together?
A great rendition of a moody classic,Mr Montrose exellls himself,I don't know if it's the original singer,if it is, he's someone Scottish like myself, pity we never connected the way I hoped🥱
Davey Patterson was the vocalist in GAMMA, who went on to record with Robin Trower on "Passion". Check it out if you're into Trower, it'll blow your mind!
Well Played
RONNIE MONTROSE
I rock this song every time I play my drums. The melodic tones rock my soul, the lyrics remind me of my late father who was a longshoreman. Ronnie had locked himself inside of a storage unit in Los Angeles back in the day, and my friend heard him screaming for help.
I wasn't there, but knew of his music as I was playing it all on my drums waaaaaaay back then 1978...
The Legend
RIP Ronnie , very missed
🤙
Sorry, I did not get the name of the singer. I did tell him he was doing a great job.
Bone chilling solo. Does anyone know the brand and model of guitar Ronnie is playing?
JordyNorm a “ Baker” Guitar 👍
I know the answer! My dear friend, Gene Baker was Ronnie's guitar builder for the last 12 years before he passed. Technically, this guitar is a "b-3" and not a Baker Guitar. (Boring legal shit that I won't get into) But Ronnie DID play some of the original Baker guitars before the name was purchased by an inferior builder.
I believe this is the Fire Model
Holy crap! I never knew that Gene built guitars for Ronnie. I was friends with Gene for a few years when he lived in Huntsville, Alabama in the early eighties. Gene was friends with my best friend Timothy Saunders. I think they met when Tim was going to school at GIT in L.A.. Somehow Timothy convinced Gene to move to Huntsville. We used to drink beer and party together back then. I was doing front of house sound for an Atlanta band back then and we toured heavily so I only saw Gene ocassionally. Here is a picture of Gene in the backseat of my 70 Z-28 guarding the cooler. Timothy is in the passenger front seat and I was driving. I have no idea who took the picture or where we were. I can tell that this would have been in the early eighties, propably around 82-85 because I am wearing a Cardi's t-shirt that I accquired while working FOH at one of their Texas clubs.

Rick Jones , ha ha, small world. I'm one of Gene and Lisa's friends in Pismo Beach. Because of Gene, I was lucky enough to hang out with Ronnie and his wife a couple of times. Great guitarist. Great human being.
Going against the Grain Top Notch
Is that a PRS SE Montrose model?
No, its a Baker. Not sure which Model--Maybe a B1?
Does anyone here know the singer's name?
Sorry I did not get the name of the singer.
Randy Scoles is the singer.
Hey guys !! Check out this killer GAMMA Concert from back in the day! ua-cam.com/video/Y9ZqXsrgrv4/v-deo.html
Who is singing? Does not look or sound like Davey Pattison. Davey has been with Robin Trower for decades. Some say Davey killed himself because he was a diva. I don't believe that.
+Learning More Randy Scoles is the singer at this show. And no, Davey isn't dead. Has recently done a show in the Bay Area, in fact...
I just spoke to Davey, he's fine. He's with Gamma, he lives in Santa Rosa, CA :)
