Would be so awesome if villagers could recognize us. Especially for those who have the DLC and go to the Happy Island Paradise island and still be able to be recognized if somebody you worked for moved to your island. They could bring like 1 item that you had chose for their island home to show their appreciation for what you did for them
One thing she didn't mention was Villagers when you invite them at Happy Home Paradise don't seem to remember you. Even when you invite them using Souvenir Cookies and they move out your island they don't even make any mentions how "Oh I used to live on your island, but since I have a vacation home you can always visit me" instead they behave just like the others that you see on Nook Mile Islands and Random Campsite visits. They are just clones of each other that don't remember who you are.
If you use the DLC and make your neighbours a house on there, they will remember you even if they move off your island, it’s the way I keep in touch with everyone who has moved 😄
I like to think of each villager that doesnt remember you as a different iteration of that villager on a different time line or alternate universe. Or there was a Nook induced memory wipe just before they leave.
I wonder why they didn’t implement them remembering you on Mystery Islands as a feature They could implement them remembering the last 160 players but not them saying something unique if you encounter a former villager on a Mystery Island?

Its sad that villagers at the Resort for Happy Home Paradise don't remember you at all even when you invite them using Souvenir Cookies from your island they somehow lose their personality and act like they don't know who you are. Its so weird.
Also, not sure if this counts, but if you give a villager a furniture item, and they invite you to visit their house and allow you to take something, if you ask to take that furniture from them, they’ll actually remember exactly when you gave them it which I thought was neat
Chrissy moved out April 2021 from my island, I recently bought a second Switch and a second copy of Animal Crossing New Horizons. When I was moving in villagers on my new island I wanted to se who would auto fill, and Chrissy showed up as one of them, the rest was new villagers. I promptly went over with my old player and Chrissy recognized me right away. 😁
Interestingly, I’ve heard and read from others that occasionally villagers will actually remember you on NMT islands (I think it was supposedly changed in a recent update, I believe one of the smaller ones after the 2.0 update). However this hasn’t been the case for me so I don’t know if it’s just a rumor/myth or if I’ve just gotten unlucky 🤷🏼♀️ With that said, I did once have a villager (Croque) ask to leave. When I villager hunted, he was the first villager I saw and he did not remember me. I figured if it had been weeks or even months, past villagers wouldn’t remember you, but if Nintendo genuinely did change it I’m surprised that the villager who had literally just left didn’t remember me. For now I’m assuming Nintendo didn’t actually change this, and villagers don’t remember you on NMT islands, but if this is incorrect or they do change it later, I would love to see the dialogue from those interactions.
Sometimes you may get villagers who were from deleted islands. Like for example I had an unwanted villager that just came to my island by the name Jay. He mentions how he just moved from "Spiral" which was the old island I used to have back last year when it was deleted.
I don't know if I'm forgetting a detail or some connection I missed that makes this make sense, but I had a villager that was on my island maybe 2 years ago, not long after the game came out, and has since moved off my island well over a year and half ago. Then recently I've started a new island on a 2nd switch with a different account I created. That island began with that old villager as one of the two starters. Weird thing is when I visited that island the first time that villager recognized me. That totally shocked me and I have no idea how it could be that the villager knew me. It was too weird. I wish I could explain it.
Did you have an island on that switch before you started this new one? Cause the villager could have gotten into the move in queue of that switch and possibly that queue doesn't clear even if you restart your island?
@@AlottaBoulchit Thanks, I thinks that's it. It was awesome it happened, but also bothered me a little in the way it didn't seem possible. My original island was on my first switch and I moved that island to my new switch. I then, months later, decided to start a new island on my first switch. Even though my main account was transferred to the new switch and my 2nd account has no association to my original island, my main account must still be holding saved data on that first switch. I love how the game creates and remembers seemingly minor connections that can mean so much. I recently had a villager ask about someone who last visited my island about a year ago and that small little touch made my day as I hadn't thought that person in a long time.
What about keeping their memories on HHP? If I make a vaca home for a current villager, they know me. If I make a vaca home for a past villager, not. But what if I make a vaca home for a current villager, and then they leave my home island? Will they still remember me on HHP?

I swear another animal crossing UA-camr said it was possible since the 2.0 update that they remember you when villager hunting. Then again I saw Gayle after selling her on Nookazon and I don’t think she remembered me xD
I think you write off the NH villagers top easily. If you talk to them frequently you start to get cool little stories and spme really funny & charming moments.
I agree. I’ll 100% agree with people who say they were more sassy in the older games - they definitely were - but I don’t find them boring now. The dialogue is repetitive, sure, but that could be said of every Animal Crossing game. I personally am happy with the villagers as they are though I wouldn’t be opposed to updates to their personality/dialogue. That said, however interesting or boring the villagers are is pretty subjective so I can understand why some people are really entertained by them and why others dislike talking with them if they find them boring or bland/dull. They aren’t the most entertaining, and could be improved for sure, but I also think a lot of people don’t give the villagers enough of a chance.

My villagers sometimes say "how is (name) on (name) island doing today?" or sth. Names I do not recognize and villagers I either got through campsites or amiibos
I got hippeux from auto fill and he used to be on my brother's island and i had my character from that island and he remembered that character and he used to tell my character from my current switch about how he used to live on my brother's island
What if… while the villager is on your island, you invite them to happy home paradise and build them their vacation home? If you found them on the HHA beach after kicking them out, would they still use your nickname like they do if you speak to them there while they’re still living on your island?
alright, im not 100% im just imaging this or if it was a dream or whatever, but my little sister was there and reacted along with me when this happened... this was in 2020 maybe mid summery, i had the eagle Avery on my island for a while, gifted him stuff and all that then gave him to my friend when he moved out, but when i found them again on the FIRST island, he recognised me,, like greeted me and knew me already and was wearing a shirt he left in... i really do hope theres some sort of proof on my switch camera roll, ah so frustrating

(Nope, not expecting to end up with both, would just hope the original could make a lighthearted reference to the situation.)

my boyfriend just randomly got my wolfgang cause i moved him out while my bf had an empty plot, how we know this is because when my bf went to talk to him wolfgang said “well this sure isn’t sharkbait (the name of my island) “ my bf didn’t get him in boxes or anything he just moved onto his island and he remembered me😭

I don't ever want Cherry to leave my island, but because she was an O.G. resident her house furnishings are terrible! I want her to go and immediately move back so she can have her cool studio apartment with the hot tub! Wish I knew how to make that happen..... she deserves to live in a cool house. 😥
If you have the dlc and you finish the dlc story (so 30 houses and apparel shop) you'll be able to request isabelle to change her house to her normal one! Sucks its behind the dlc, but it is possible
In my game,, Benedict left because he said he watched a tv show about travailing the world bug hunting or something like that, and I wished him luck. Simon too left, but he wanted to travel without watching tv. I did not convince him to stay and was glad I did not do so. In both cases, I went villager hunting to replace them, and got Pippy to join, two days before Bunny Day, and Whitney.
My real neighbors on planet earth could give two hoots, we Didn't even know she was pregnant until we saw them bringing a baby in the house And they're moving and never told us they were removing and we just see the sign out there So yes real neighbors can be Ignorant or self absorbed But bubbles was on my son's island and she Ha-ha ha me Ha ha-ha Real neighbors can stink but I love animal crossing neighbors
