"Who will be the first?" Many folks will say that this album should have been made into a movie. Thing is - it doesn't matter... it becomes a movie in the mind of the listener. I've seen it hundreds of times over the last few decades.
I got to shake his hand, I jumped on the stage and he turned to me. The security guard was nice enough to help me down from the stage. Saw him in CT twice and Chicago. His voice is unique, great band. And they start their show on-time.
I really enjoy your take on music. I am not a huge metal fan, but I love this album. Totally dig concept albums.... I would recommend from king Diamond the album “Them” and then the second part of that story is continued in the album “Conspiracy “
Have always loved King Diamond, great horror story telling. His vocals are a huge surprise to first timers, yet unforgettable at the same time. Great reaction my man. Keep up the great work! An awesome album if his would be "The Eye" based on true events. Peace!! A great movie script indeed!!
Just by viewing the roster of artist's that you have listed made me subscribe even before watching a single review. From Zappa to Steve Riech to King Diamond to U.K. I'm in! Keep em coming.
love ur album reviews, and i was happily surprised when i noticed ur doing Abigail. one of my fav albums, i remember hearing A Mansion In Darkness on a rock radio show (yes they existed in sweden back then, hehe), and i was hooked. instantly bought the back log of king diamond, the singer. mercyful fate - don't break the oath is a masterpiece too. sorry, i digress. moving on to part 2...
I get so jealous of people who discover this album for the first time. It is a great experience. Great catch on the 07-07-1777 reference. I actually have a tradition where I listen to this CD every 07 July, just set the mood lighting and get lost in the story. There is a sequel Abigail lol: The Revenge. You are correct in the reason for the lot of musical interludes even though it is a concept album is the high level musicians in the band. The drummer is Mickey Dee.
I saw them last time in 2014. What a great show it was! I can’t wait to hear ”The Institute” and see them on tour. Not to mention to attend a Mercyful Fate reunion show postponed due to Covid.
Yep, I finally caught King Diamond last November, too, for the first time. I saw them at King's Theatre in Brooklyn. They were great, and introduced a new song from The Institute. One of the opening bands, Uncle Acid and The Deadbeats was even better. What a great live band!!!
After all this Album is over 25 years old and still is a memorable recording to so many metal heads. Same goes for so many MF/KD albums as well. So let's keep the King enthroned as long as we have him!!
STB : "This would make a great movie script" This is just one of many! But we're almost there ; a graphic novel based on this album is set to be released at the end of November! And I heard chatter about King's albums being considered for film adaptation, but then again, I've been hearing that since the 80s when King said he was working on the manuscript/screenplay for the Them/Conspiracy story... but King being the busy guy he is, and the business being what it is, those ambitions had to go on the back burner. But never say never, right? A graphic novel is more than I thought we'd ever see, so maybe a film (or two or five) will finally come to fruition? It would be nice, especially now that Abigail is a two-album opus (like Them and Conspiracy, since the sequel released in 2002 (Abigail II : The Revenge).
Just so you know. King Diamond writes all the music as well as the lyrics. Andy helps some but 98% of the writing is done by King himself. He's an excellent guitar player
Really cool. I've been a King fan for around 33 years and was unaware he played guitar. I thought Andy was the mind behind the brilliant solos. Not to take anything away from him though because I don't believe King would be the same without him.
Here's something pretty scary about the "Oh, damn!" (the part right after the line "Abigail has been in here, for years and years...STILLBORN....BORN....BORN") Nobody knows who sang that part. King and all the members of the band deny singing it.
11:56 - “this would make a great movie script” For the last 15 years I’ve actually been writing an unofficial script for not only Abigail but King Diamond’s other works spanning it to a huge 13 script saga spreading over 2,000 years. For “S & G” if you’re curious & wanna read it, contact me 😜
I'm not done watching this reaction yet but wanted to mention how much I'm enjoying your production. Not only is it great to see King getting some love but it's obvious you are really listening. Most "reaction" hosts are too busy trying to make a big deal of themselves reacting as opposed to keeping the focus on the music itself. Don't get me wrong, there's something to that (I follow a few myself) but your calm, listen-oriented approach is refreshing. Seven minutes in, you said "I love a story in song". That one comment alone convinced me to share a piece of my own work if you can find the time. I would have preferred to share it privately but couldn't find any contact info. The track and corresponding video lives at ua-cam.com/video/ZwLGNNK1tMc/v-deo.html
finally a whole King Diamond album reaction, the way it should be experienced.
One of the best metal albums ever :)

You taking this journey i did back in 1987 is amazing to me))
You need to check out the early Mercyful Fate albums - he was their lead singer, an incredible talent.
eeeeyyyyyuuuuuppppp
Yes. Check out The Beginning compilation. Nobody ever talks about that one…

Hi, i got to see tour in 80's at The Ritz in Corpus Christi, Tx. along with the band Savatage and Illusion.

I got to see King Diamond in 2019 before Covid hit thank goodness. He still got it. It was an awesome show!

No one really does a proper review like this! The entire albums have to be listened to to truly appreciate them.
Good job!
I appreciate that!
Great great reaction. I thank you sir, by hitting that subscription button 👍. Awesome 👏

The family ghost is the second best track on the album in my opinion.
