thanks you sir. I just bought a brand new Lews Lite $239 reel and it started screaming on the cast about 5 min into using it. Funny thing is it was the reel i grabbed after exchainging my Curado Dc reel it had a tiny sound in the spool the local shop went to fix it and then gave it back to me with a broken drag knob . They made it right with store credit so no shame on them. The Curado Dc is a great reel it got a piece of sand in the gear somehow it happens. So some how im trying not to complain with a bit od complainy sounding rant. All in all I feel i am kind of getting youst to problems with my reels. I always have taken good care of them but I am trying to somehow take even better care of them these things are needy . Great tools but they must be properly taken care of no matter how much money you spend.
Thanks for this video brother. I have a Diawa Tatula 100H and when I cast or reel it sounds like a pepper grinder, now these reels do not have the top hat brakes but I used the same basic principles of your cleaning and it worked wonders on the casting noise (GONE) but it still makes a bit of a grinding sound when I'm reeling in, it did that straight out of the box. Any tips on that?
ok. I have a daiwa tatula sv that I cleaned and now it's making a screeching noise on the cast. I've swapped every single part out one by one from one of my other tatula sv reels and it still does it. it's driving me INSANE! It makes absolutely no sense. I've swapped out the side plate with the brakes, both spool bearings, the spool, and it still does it! it sounds like it's coming from the handle sideplate area. the spool is not rubbing anywhere on the frame. I'm completely baffled. And I'm not new to cleaning and tuning reels either.
hey, I cleaned this inside ring with alcohol , washed it off and oiled it. Still my reel is screeching. Also I oiled all other bearings inside the reel. Dont know what to do.
Man I need to make some new videos. been a whilke. Anyway theres only a few things it be. is it a shimano? unless the spool is somehow off but that doesn'tnhappen much. you in the States, send it to me ill check it. just cover shipping.
@@AcSlayer10 really kind of you, No I am in Germany. Its a cheapo chinese baitcaster, but alltogether not the worst quality. I will open the handle side and clean all parts. Havent done that yet. Thanks buddy.
@@VisitaInteriora if you can't figure it send me an email and I'll reply back with some pics of areas to check out and clean. What kind of brakes does that thing have? acslayer10@gmail.com
magnetic brakes should not be making any contact. If you are still getting noise while casting try cleaning the out rims of the spool. If not it might be internal.
Ben Boettcher update: i cleaned the rims with no change, then my husband got some info from his coworker so we did as he suggested. grabbed some ronson light fluid to clean bearings on the spool and where the reel handle goes inside the cover. oiled with 3-in-one multi purpose oil. i know, i know its not recommended but it is a $30 reel and it worked! i actually gained casting distance when mags were set to high. i do plan on cleaning and relubing once every other week as i only use it on average 6-10 hours a week. :) just thought you'd want to know where i was at
I am glad it worked out. Makes sense the noise was a bearing considering it had magnetic brakes and not centrifugal force brakes. Average use, you definitely don't need to clean and lube every other week. Twice a season should be enough. Good luck and Fish On!
My baitcaster skipps and clicks after a cast like its not hooking up to bump the cast button back up ,the Handel turns and clicks and eventually it hooks up .I hooked on to a 6 lb large mouth and that's when it happened did I brake a gear tooth setting the hook
Yes sir! Clean all of it especially tge brake system much quiter when done properly. I even add a light oil to it.

My Steez doesn't screech or anything, but the spool rattles on the retrieve. How do I fix it?

+Harry Timmons I have the same problem with my 100XSL. When I cast, it makes that noise too, just that when I reel mine in, no grinds or noise.

finally figured it out! the pinion gear had a tiny bit of grease inside of it and it was grabbing the spool shaft and causing a chatter.

what about magnetic brakes?

Ben Boettcher ok will check and do that tonight. :) thanks for the reply.

The whole reel malfunctioned and birdnested as it happened please make a video about this
Sounds more like the spring on the return pawl came out or broke.
mine sqeaks when i reel how do i fix that
that could mean it just needs a good clean and lube or a internal bearing is going bad.
Mine does that noise but doesn have that kind of breaking syste.
Did you find a solution? I have a Daiwa Tatula and its magnetic as well cant figure it out
