lol I was immediately like: What's this guy problem? Even if you are not interested in your guest for some reason, it doesn't give you the right to be an asshole. I mean, she is a singer, not a politician, what did she do to you to deserve such arrogance and rudeness? At least try to remain civil and good-natured for 7 minutes, ffs. Anyway, I'm not surprised I've never heard of this host, they probably got rid of his dumb ass rather quickly, bc I remember Late Late Show was hosted by Craig Ferguson for many years, and he was actually awesome and much more entertaining.
Lara the epitome of class and humilty... Kilborne... Arrogant, Odious, misogynistic, intentionally rude the list goes on.... Lara should be on THE BIG SHOWS WITH THE BIG PRESENTERS... She needs to be much better recognised for the incredible talent that she is!
Here in Seattle USA I had no awareness whatsoever of Lara. This Late Late Show was on very late, starting somewhere around 12:30am. It was the late show that came after the late show that followed the 11pm news that ended at 11:35pm. I never saw it. I just discovered Lara two days ago in a UA-cam video that showed a collection of female singers belting notes and grading them. I saw 7 seconds of her doing the "Tu Voia" belt in "Je t'aime" and became an instant fan (25 years late!). 3:06 into this one: ua-cam.com/video/83hO9jIugQw/v-deo.html I feel like I missed out. I guess the record companies thought Celine already had tapped the market here? I have a vague memory of hearing the "I will love again" song maybe once or twice, but on the surface it just sounded like another disposable pop song thanks to the pop track under it). I would think that "Je t'ame" or "Addagio", which actually showcase why she is an equal to Celine (or better), would have gotten her recognition (it would have had to be Addagio since that is in English). I guess that Record Industry execs aren't that smart. So I've been discovering Lara's awesomeness for the first time these last three days. (Actually, I've mostly been clicking on "Je t'aime" videos and jumping to 3 minutes to see if it is an old one where she does that belt! )
It was for the better, I think. There is a tendency in American showbiz to change everything it touches to be much more louder, gaudier and aimed at the lowest common denominator. I very much like Lara and her repertoire the way they are and for that I think I should thank the fact she wasn't more successful in the US.
Oh someone uploaded a compilation of interviews on Craig Kilborn this morning and I saw it about 30min after lol so I just cropped the Lara part of u guys I did wanna upload an Adagio perf that Lara did at an award show back in 1999. I think only 3 of us have seen it lol but I watched it back in 2019, didn’t download it and now it’s private so can’t download it or anything I’ll try to find a way lmao
@@Diego_Santa no idea! It’s been private for years now and was only posted once on UA-cam I think. The video quality was terrible and she was wearing a long black leather coat but then again she was always wearing these coats at the time
I don't like him at all. He seems sleezy and creepy like those guys that think everyone falls for them and that they are funny but are not and you just want him to SHUT UP already 😭😭😭
I totally agree, I don't like the way this interview is presented, Lara doesn't seem to be very comfortable and the interviewer's questions are silly and topical. But anyway it is interesting to see her at this moment in USA, from which she expects a lot but the industry disappointed her. But artistically I think it was the best for her, we don't know if Lara would have been the same artist if she had succumbed to the "star system".
@@CrisLabynia tbh she seemed uncomfortable in most of her US interviews lol. I suppose it’s because she was not feeling well at the time. I thought she was rather chill in that one I don’t know, she tried to loosen the atmosphere by making jokes etc, the host just didn’t get it which made it awkward
@@laratheringfabian It's probably as you say, because I'm not quite good at English. It gives me the impression that Lara tries to fit into that type of show, because she is very educated and knows how to adapt to any place, but It's just my impression because without subtitles I don't understand everything they are saying 🙏
@@CrisLabynia here’s what I think. The atmosphere of these type of American shows is very fake. Lara is the opposite of fake but she does know she has to do her job so as you say, she was probably trying to “fit in”. I believe she was being herself when she was making jokes but the host just didn’t get it 😅
Yeah these kinds of hosts are not that interested in hearing what the guest has to say lol it’s mostly about asking all the questions u wanna ask and ignoring the rest
Typical... Songs that went big in the USA: "I Will Love Again" and "I Am Who I Am". Songs that went big on some european countries: "Love By Grace", "Broken Vow" and "Adagio". Enough said!
That... man... My blood pressure went through the roof...for a minute there. What the hell?! But then well... I changed my mind. I don't know how much of that was scripted but... Wow. Watching US interviews and shows from the 80s and 90s is sort of an extremely odd experience. Why do these people act like this towards women?! What is that?! Did this guy inform himself beforehand who will be his guest at all? "You are going to be a big star here"?! Huh? What do you think she is, five?! Her quiet "Do you think so". Geez, she really has the patience of a Buddhist monk. "You speak 4 languages? That's four more than I do" She starts laughing. That seemed like a genuine laugh. "I noticed that" Ohh! Ops. Brutal! She caught herself and immediately apologized, giving him an opportunity to change the conversation, to get away from this. But he doesn't take the hint: " Too much giggling. I don't like giggling!" This seemed like the moment her tone shifted. "Really?!" sounded just a bit lower, almost with a hint of threat here. 4 minutes. That's how much she was willing to accept the crap coming from him. Seems like that was the moment she was like: Fuck it, I might as well have some fun. "Ok, let me stand still." She freezes for a second, giving him time to get the message, and then smiles almost cat-like. The men in the public apparently understand where this was going, but not the host. Snapping fingers at her, sort of giving her an order: "Giggle!" She doesn't react at first, then she slowly turns her head toward him, as if silently asking him "Are you serious right now?!" She tells him with an innocent soft voice, dripping with sarcasm: "I can dance if you want?" Short, sweet, devastating! She owned him. This is not a way to behave toward anyone, dude... Let alone a woman, who is one of the best singers in the world, and you want her to be a circus monkey for you? Sorry but.. erm... Sorry, maybe I am reading too much in this. It's just what I see. Thank you for uploading this.
How come Craig Fergusson never invited Lara? I guess he must have not known about her - Lara's agent should have sent a CD to Craig in order to introduce her. Craig would have invited her probably many times and that's exactly the type of promotion she would have needed!
im still wondering how the hell some guy had the nerve to end the relationship with her, not even going to tell her qualities, she's just an extremely interesting human being :P f*** Craig, d*** :P and you can tell right away she has an amazing voice

I disagree about Craig Ferguson. He’s very flirty but most of the time he does it in a funny way and the female guests always flirt back. I find him very entertaining

Lara succeeded a very difficult, sarcastic, annoying, unfriendly host. She showed she is smart and with a good sense of humour.
I came to the comments to write how annoying he was. I never watched his show, so I hadn’t realized.

She's got one of the best voices around. She needs new management or agent.
What she needed was to be with a different record company not the one that Celine Dion was at because her husband put an end to Lara's career.
