She had such beautiful hair...no extensions
At 11 yrs old I still recall driving in my uncle's 64' Jag XKE over the Golden Gate Bridge to Sausalito and hearing this song on the AM radio, KYA. It was a great time, not like now
Cher is beyond gorgeous.
sonny and cher were unstoppable in the mid 60s
@@mattiassvanberg8292 Daughter, at the time. Chastity socially became Chaz in 2008
All of these years later and Cher still looks young and beautiful RIP Sonny
I got you babe has been around for nearly 56 years now! 😊
1965: I was 9 years old & living at Patch Barracks in Stuttgart, Germany. Came back to the States in 1966…. and fell completely in love with these 2…. 💕
The chemistry those 2 had was magical.
they hated each other and you can see it when they look at each other singing
Cher was the talent, Sonny was the brains. Neither would have gone anywhere without the other.
Sonny looks like the inspiration of "Shaggy" from "Scooby Doo here." Also didn't realize this song was this old... thought it was from the early 70s, oh well. "Groovy baby!"
You're so right... he just needs a few whiskers sticking out of the chin like "Shaggy."! ✌☮
@@that70sgirl90 it's looks like Derek Llewellyn in her life Sybil Jason she was in 1935
Don't know what scoobie doo you all grew up on but that's not shaggy , that's a Velma haircut
Same smile he had when they last performed on Letterman.
Man for an eternal
moment they loved each other above all
they hated each other and you can see it when they look at each other singing
Sonny & Cher chose a good time to appear on the program as it was only the second Ed Sullivan Show that aired in color. Yet they never appeared again. Unfortunately, you will only see a portion of their medley. The complete performance includes "I Got You Babe," "Where Do You Go?" (Cher solo) and "But You're Mine." Let's hope we will see the rest some time soon.
Then the reason this version was so short is that it was part of a medley. Why would they bring on a hot act like this at the time and not let them do a full version of what was already their signature song.
@@shave-a-thon3415 - Sonny was a marketing man as well as a performer, so I assume he wanted to take the opportunity to promote their upcoming singles and not focus solely on a song that was already a success.
@@shyman99 lol....the performers did not have the final say...or maybe any say..as to what they would sing
@@jadezee6316 - Yeah, I'm sure Ed required they perform two songs that no one at the time had even heard of before. That'll help ratings! lol
Yeah, I wished The Beatles had held out a little longer than their August 1965 Sullivan broadcast. We would have seen them in color !
So Good! They were so good together!! Use to love to watch the Sonny and Cher Show!! 😇🙏💖
they were fighting all the time--walked off many times--they could not stand each other--don't be delusional
You can see at this point they both really loved each other.
I think they kept on loving each other. Cher gave a very touching and heart-felt eulogy at Sonny's funeral. She was obviously devastated at his passing.
Just like many other couples, I think they just drifted apart as they were so busy working together on their TV show.
Will always love them and their time together!
@@johnlargan6045 . Beautifully said... I agree with 💯%.!! I had the honor and the privilege to see her in concert in 2019. Cher did a beautiful Tribute to Sonny. They put up a huge black and white picture of Sonny, Cher was dressed in 70's attire, and they sang "I Got You Babe. I couldn't help but to get emotional... it was so well done! Thank you for sharing! 💖
The duo’s best look ever
I loved Sonny & Cher,
Still do,
The heartbeat goes on💖💖
....just kids having fun, they become classic gems 💎💎
..and for blessed Cher,
The beat goes on..
Hard working talented woman 💪👍👍👍
I grew up listening to Sonny and Cher along with the Carpenters whenever I stayed with my Grandparents. Such a privilege to have been exposed to such great music.
Such good days. How I miss them.
Like all days they are fleeting and happen only one time. So it's kind of hard to miss them...
Not sure what 1965 you two remember. That was a bad year and horrible decade all around. Wake up!!
@@JackiePhillipsTheSocialPet I was young and smart and yes the bad was starting all over gaining influence, good guys cowering, Vietnam, for me and all but still not near as bad as later years...
Now the good guys be standing up for themselves again even stronger, so imo better days ahead... One good guy to another,
one by one hold hands around the world
🕯️☮️🕯️☮️🕯️☮️🕯️☮️🕯️☮️🕯️☮️🕯️☮️🕯️and sing, "I got you babe'(s)...... ☮️
Something about Sonny and Cher that is so appealing and live. Thank you.
Cher looked like a complete different person back then 😳
I was in elementary school when I seen this performance, and I still have the same "shy boy crush" on Cher to this day. Sonny Bono was a sweet, very cool guy. Sonny and Cher, trail blazers for sure. Creative chemistry singers/musicians....FOR SURE!!! ❤😎❤
Great stuff! Although I wish it was longer! .....Apparently this performance was part of a medley: The complete performance includes "I Got You Babe," "Where Do You Go?" (Cher solo) and "But You're Mine." ...Hopefully they'll show it in it's entirety someday.
This song brings me to tears, RIP Sonny❤
Sonny Bono. One of the many celebrity/musical stars Detroit has produced, can claim as one of its own (born in the Motor City in 1935.) Bono also co-penned (with Jack Nitzche) the Searcher's fabulous1964 hit, "Needles And Pins" having made top 20 in the U.S., early that year. Great video, thank you for this E.S. memory!
I don't know if this will ever get to Cher but this was the song that my husband of 55; years fell in love!!! Love you Cher!!!
I loving memory of sonny ❤
Precious time in life ❤
Handsome and beautiful
SONNY AND CHRR YOUNG FULL OF ENERGY AND AMBITION ❤
Man why can't people admire sentiments like this anymore ugh...
Okay, campers. Rise and shine and don’t forget your booties, cause it’s cooooold out there today.
Yes I remember this song very well one of my favorite Cher songs from the early days still listening to this song in the year of 2021
19 years old, Cher!❤❤❤
Good lord, Cher is gorgeous.
Love Sonny & Cher the best :)
RIP Sonny you are truly missed ....
Why would they give this a thumbs down. Great song then and great song now well to me anyway but I’m mid 60’s what would I know
Love sonny and cher
Шер была шикарная красотка до всех её хирургических вмешательств. Сама на себя не похожа. Волосы обалденные.
I just heard 'The Beat Goes On' on SiriusXM Channel 6(the 60's) yesterday. I turned it up loud in my JBL equipped car. What an incredible record. The thing is when I first heard it on AM radio, I had no idea how well played, mixed and mastered this recording was until now. A brilliant song of that era. As for me? The Beat Goes On...
This is BRILLIANT. Thanks for sharing this !
🎼👌 Beautiful Memories ❤
This is a wonderfully moving song. RIP Sonny.........too bad we only got half of it here.
Most people don’t think about this or realize it, but Sonny was successful in 3 endeavors and industries that most people fail in just one. He was a successful musician, restauranteur, and politician. Most people laughed at him, but I think he had the last laugh!
There was a TV show called the Ed Sullivan show, it aired so many LEGENDARY musicians
I remember seeing them once wearing these big shaggy hairy vests that were briefly in style in th 60s
Моя подруга в начале восьмидесятых нашла у своей мамы старый мохнатый зелёный пиджак и даже надевала его несколько раз на танцы. Было удивительно.
Sonny & Cher = SUPER ❤️👍
looks like good quality
Le temps où la musique était belle rip sonny

Sonny ( handsome) Cher ( beautiful) Awesomely awesome 👍👍
To think that this entire generation is disappearing along with our fathers is very sad
Academy award winning actress is singing this song Chér
Such a timeless song
Cher was such a natural looking girl loved that look fast forward eons where did she go
I love this song . I'm 15 again when ever I hear it . Hard to believe how much Cher chaned as she slowly evovled into the sexy look and the "barely there" outfits .😊
Cher was smokin" hot
Legend classic song
What Amazes me about Cher is... how many times she has reinvented herself. I got the honor and the privilege to see her in 2019 in concert. At 72 years old she was Rockin' it out... and sounded better than ever! They showed a big black & white picture of Sonny she was dressed in 70's attire, and they sang ... "I've Git You Babe". I couldn't help but to get emotional... it was so well done! It was a phenomenal show... I wouldn't hesitate to go see her again! Thank you for sharing! 💖
I'm just happy to see someone who is not singing "When The Saints Go Marching In."
There have been five postings of "When the Saints" so far, and seven of "Bill Bailey, Won't You Please Come Home". I know of other songs that were performed multiple times on the show as well but they haven't been posted as often, if at all. It might be because their agreement with UMe only allows them to post certain songs, and others are in the public domain so it's easier for them to post those. "When the Saints" is in the public domain, as are most folk songs and very old songs.
I love you Cher
Great music indeed very entertaining and inspiring
Still listening 2023
👏❤👍👊
he looks exactly like one of my school bullies, i can't unsee it lol
the 10 people who voted this video down do not believe in love, do not know what real love is, have a hateful unloving outlook on life!!!
Diggin it. Lovin Sonny's Vest

The man's hairstyle is great.

Just post them. Why make us wait?
She’s so beautiful
Love this song so much doesn’t matter how old it is never goes out of date
