    Some pointers you might have missed out:
    1. The loud clucking sound when the force feedback kicks in for G29
    2. The bad Logitech GHUB software
    3. The loud fan that activates after 20-30 minutes of play for Thrustmaster T300RS

  • @RedRUSSI4N
    @RedRUSSI4N 7 років тому +49

    Imho this comparison is not quite fair. I mean they are not that similar in price. You can get G29 for 205 GBP along with 3 pedals setup, for another 30 GBP you can get shifter. And for 235 pounds you are full set. Meanwhile the price of T300RS just starts at 267 pounds. You want clutch pedal? You should get GT Edition than, that's 311 pounds. You want shifter? That's another 116 pounds for you. So we have 235 GBP vs 427 GBP. I'd say that's a pretty reasonable difference in price. I know that T300 has higher overall quality, but it comes with higher price. So I think it's not really fair to say that they are in the same price range.

      You can get the Logitech set now for 200gbp and the thrust master is now above 300gbp and the clutch is nearing 400gbp. The shifter is almost 200 so it's now 200vs600

    I ended up going for the G29 personally. While the TM does have better build quality to the wheel, the pedals remind me a lot of the pedals on my old DFGT and that was the thing I hated the most about that wheel. Where as the G29's are pretty good and already come with a clutch pedal so you just need to buy the shifter which don't cost much now anyway. with the T300 on the other hand you need better pedals if you want the shifter, which already costs more than the Logitech version, with that in mind I came to the conclusion your better off ignoring the T300 and considering the vastly superior T500 or saving quite a lot of money and going for the G29. The G29 is more than enough wheel for me. I mostly play racing games for the experience, and quite a bit of the truck sims too. If I was massively serious about it though, I would just get a T500, .

    2 bits of misinformation in this video. For one, the Thrustmaster, NOT the Logitech is more powerful. The Thrustmaster puts out a significant amount of more torque, and its far smoother in its FFB delivery because it's not using helical gears like the Logitech is.
    Second, the Thrustmaster is not louder by any means. The thrustmaster makes hardly any noise while you're using it other than a cooling fan which isn't always on. The Logitech on the other hand makes a ton of noise while turning just like with the G27 and DFGT.
    The T300 gives you a significantly higher end force feedback delivery system and it's a much more substantial product. The Logitech feels like a plastic toy in comparison. Plus, the steering rotation button on the thrustmaster really comes in handy all the time, depending on what you're driving and what support the game has. Some games don't have options to change steering rotation, and the T300 is a lifesaver in those situations and it's just a better all around wheel to start and with better options for upgrading in the future.
    I have no idea why Logitech is charging $400 for the G29 because it's nothing but a reskinned G27 and it's not worth $300.

      GT Nismo For a first time wheel definitely get the T300. Well worth the cost. Better force feedback, and you get the option to upgrade to the Ferrari rim or Sparco rim. Plus the thrustmaster shifter is miles better than the Logitech one.

    • @Godric_71
      @Godric_71 6 років тому

      John M thats great. Thank you for your feedback. One of the best parts of your info is that if i want to ill be able to "upgrade" it. What is your take on pedals? I feel that it's probably a good idea to spend a little more for a really good set. Im pretty gentle with my controllers and other things like that. However, i dont want it to break if i happen to put too much pressure unintentionally. Again, thank you so much for your feedback. Its better than listening to someone being paid by the manufacturer.

  • @Bandit-Darville

    I had a G25 which broke on me within 2 years and now finally invested in the Thrustmaster ecosystem. The T300 is way more quite than the G25 when it is in operation, not counting the exhaust fan which kicks in after some use. Also, the T300 is way smoother and the force feedback just feels that much more refined. And as said in the video: it just has a more quality feel to it. I was lucky enough to have the extra cash to fork over to get the T3PA-Pro pedals and TH8A shifter. I'm loving every bit of it. Cheers!

    Logitech gives you so many bonuses that make it more reasonable for the beginner. The pedals rock and you can get the base set with the shifter for the same price as the base Thustmaster. I love the G29 as a beginner. That said if you take your game to the next level neither one of these options is going to be adequate. You are going to want more force feedback - and that is going to cost you some cash. So for the purpose of figuring things out, you're going to want to go with the G29 as a means to determine your level of commitment.

    • @TheSkepticSkwerl

Moreover, being both also ps3 compatible, the g29 supports more games since it acts as DFGT in ps3 environment, while there are not so many ps3 games you can play with T300, or at least, not as much as in the case of g29. If i were a PC gamer and thrusmaster was more reliable, it would surely by my wheel of choice, But G29 seems to be more consoles friendly :))

      My guess is the game will notndo somenofnthe droving for him or you in this case and give you a more contrasting experience between the two, they feel similar simply because assists are on, if all assists are off, you cam't use clutch and gear shifter in the thrust master however wiyh the lgitech you have to buy a gear shift er alongside the paddle.

    • @kurosenpai
      @kurosenpai 8 років тому +2

      Brett Perry well, depending on the game you are gonna play, if you switch on the assist on, it doesnt even matter what kinda sterring wheel you are using you are not gonna feel any different, heck you can even play using a controller and still race with like with no accident at all, unless you are very bad at playing games. If you switch of all the asisst off though, things r gonna change quite drastically, you are prone to oversteer a lot but with a good wheel that has a good FFB you kinda " know/feel " the car and you can react/counter steer better, or prevent it from oversteering in the first place. And logitech paddle feels like it has weight when you push it. Like break for instant, since bith of the paddle in the video is very good, you can control you breaking power better, so that you wont lock your tires since ABS is off. you can search simracekairu in UA-cam, he is , to me, the best sim racer in UA-cam. you can watch his video.

    It seems to me that the G29 has a few more buttons for mapping. The dial can be used for brake balance, and I see that it also has the +/- buttons too. I used to have a Logitech G27 and i got hooked on racing sims! Force feedback and real games like Asseto Corsa and Iracing made this addicting like heroin! That G27 lasted quiet a few years with drifting and good abuse, but i wanted something more realistic. So i got a T300RS like 2 years back during boxing day for a good deal, and it was like upgrading from Toyota Tercel to Mercedes GT. They both do the same thing, but you love the T300 more because it feels more planted, sturdy, comfortable, and realistic, and immersive while the G27 felt like a cheap toy that did its job well. Well 3 months later with my T300RS and it crapped out! During a Drift in Dirt 4 Rally, my wheel started to smoke and smell like burnt plastic coming from the steering wheel base.
    I read online that it's a common issue with the T300 line, where the Power supply craps out, and sometimes fries the motherboard. And that it's a nightmare to get a refund. Well i learned that the hard way. I emailed Thrustmaster about my issue and it took them 2 weeks to just reply with those automated bot replies. They said they wanted my wheel serial number along with the receipt of purchase. I had the whole damn box and serial number, but no more receipt. I was denied any repair or replacement, after just 3 months of using their shitty product. I eventually gave up chasing to get my wheel fixed. I saw many stories like mine online. How can they make such a shitty unreliable POS that lasts a few weeks,months and sell it?
    So now i have the pedals, which are still good, and i have the steering wheel RIM itself, so all i need to replace is the T300 Base. I was gonna buy one the other day, then i read a review that this happened to another guy who bought a T300 and it burnt, he bought another base, and a few weeks later, that base burnt too. I don't want to buy another T300 base and have it smoke up in a few weeks or months.

    I've been searching the internet and seems that there are a lot malfunction problems with T300RS just after few months. So I'll try to make it clear for everyone about each wheel advantage.
    Price -> G29 ($200) vs. T300RS ($300)
    Durability (lifespan) -> G29 (approx. 4 years) vs. T300RS (approx. 1 year, [reason: heats up easily])
    Wheel Force Feedback -> T300RS (better FFD + 1080 wheel rotation) vs. G29 (Less precise FFD + 900 wheel rotation)
    Pedal set -> G29 (Decent pedal set) vs. T300RS (Crappier pedal set over G29)
    Styling -> T300RS (Looks and feels better in my opinion) vs. G29 (Pretty amazing + cool indicator light [RPM to change gears])
    Platforms: Both are compatible on PS4, PS3 and PC (Although G29 indicator lights and clutch won't work on PS3)
    Bonus: If you are GT Sport player button layout goes in advantage for G29
    I almost went with T300RS, but giving extra $100 for wheel that has much malfunction problems after seeing all those online forums and threads. I'll just go with G29 instead, seems like old gear drive technology is more durable then belt driven T300RS.

    Thanks for the review. Very helpful. For my first racing setup, I'm probably opting for the Logitech G29, stick & pedals for £210. Can always upgrade to Thrustmaster if I get more serious with racing.

      @@Damarai_ Well, I as well bought g29+shifter. Been using it for 1 year, its pretty good. Gets the job done, simulates a real steering wheel pretty well. The shifter is very clunky, but is also cheap so its worth getting it too. Overall - 7/10 gets the job done

    Great video... I am new into market to get a wheel setup however, I am still not able to make out what and how much to spend.
    Can there be a clear choice off these two. Thanks

    The price breach is huge, so, I'd prefer million of times the logitech g29. Thrustmaster has too many problems in my view.

      The T300 is miles better than the G29.

      +Gabriel Mauricio if you already have a Logitech wheel then yes, but T3PA is even better ;)

      +Cesar Martinez the T300 wheel base is much better with its brushless belt driven ffb meganism, the G29 uses brushed helical gearing which is the same as they used in the G27 and outdated.

      +Cesar Martinez I think the mechanism is the most important thing of the entire wheel :P

    The Thrustmaster is definitely a very good wheel, and so is the Logitech G29, but the first time I bought the T300 RS, it broke down within weeks of me using it. I bought a Logitech G29 after I returned the T300, and after a year the G29 still holds up. If you want a more reliable wheel, then the G29 should be your choice.

    T300 has better spec, but the g29 is over 100 quid cheaper after a price drop. This puts it in competition with the t150 from a price point. The major difference is i can change rims on the t300, for me that makes it worthwhile.

      @aces-ww8zl 8 років тому

      The alcantara edition is the best option. Bigger wheel plus you get the upgraded pedals. If you can afford it go for this one.In the long run it will save you money.

    I bought a t300rs second hand and it came with a wheel without paddle shifters. Is that a problem. Will a wheel with shifters be cheap?

    i own a g29 but the gears are so loud so i have to turn the forcefeed back all te way down other wise its like

      if the gears are super loud that probably means it's clipping and therefore not providing you with reliable information. The g29 is pretty hard to set up right but once it's set up properly you'd be surprised at how good it feels.

    I see you're using the H-shifter from the g27 with the g29. Does everything work then? All the buttons, the shifter it self and is it compatible with the new logitech gaming software?

  • @turbomanmechachrist
    @turbomanmechachrist 2 роки тому +2

    How can you say that the G29 isn't that loud? The cogs are like a machinegun when driving rally.
