The fact that Victor was able to still find so many positive things to say about this game knowing that it is awful makes him a great reviewer. I’ve been watching this channel every day these past weeks. I love that so many seasons from when I was a kid are on here too.

I’m glad you made a video about this. The only reason this is one of my favorite SNES games is because I loved it as a kid. Obviously, it’s an acquired taste. Everything about it is super nostalgic for me.
It was pretty entertaining in 2-player mode. "If the Bat wants to play, we'll play!"
I played the hell out of this game in the day... Never realized how bad it was, that was the beauty of the 90's.

I've always wanted a modern day mortal kombat game with digitized actors. I love the idea of bringing that style back.
Why can I hear the post grunge inspired music from the 1995 Batman Forever SNES commercial? The game was only 'not great', not a blazing garbage fire, but a smoldering one. Though the controls were atrocious if memory serves, the level lay out was just a giant Riddlercquestion mark. What I'm trying to say is that I need to own this game! You nailed this review though.
I got this game for Christmas with my Genesis, so this was one of the first video games I ever played. I couldn't get passed the first area of the beginning of the game.
I had my mom take it back to KB Toys (I mean, I went with her). I used the money or credit, whichever, to get a brand new Sega CD, which they had on clearance.
It was a good decision.
i got a new sega cd as a kid too when the price dropped a lot. i liked it even though sewer sharks and demolition man are the only games i remember playing on it. i beat demolition man like 10 times. i got a new dreamcast for like $50 too and i still kick myself for ever getting rid of that, i had quite a few really good games for it. if i could do it all over, i'd save every console and game i ever had, so many games i regret getting rid of, many on dreamcast and gamecube.
Wow, thanks for this trip into times of yore! I remember borrowing this game from a friend and failed so many times in finishing it. No battery saves for the love of gaming. Alas I was determined to beat both Two Face and Riddler after numerous attempts. It was kind of sort of worth it in the end, and proved to myself I was able to tolerate such brokenness in a 16 bit Bat-Game.
Imagine being a kid that grew up playing Mario, TMNT3, Sunsoft’s Batman, Mega Man, and TecmoBowl. And all your friends are getting SNES’s with Mario World, Link to the Past, and Donkey Kong Country. And then for Xmas you get a Genesis bundled with Sonic Spinball. Then the only games you to play for the next two years are that, Ecco the Dolphin, and this stinker of a Batman game.
Everyday I thank the Gods that I was introduced to the PS1 with FFVII, Mega Man X4, Twisted Metal 2, Resident Evil, Street Fighter Alpha.
genesis has a lot of really good games. not as many as snes but still a good amount.
I still remember playing this in 1995
You know those times when you're young and only get one game for a long time, well this was one of them as a blind buy. Never got past level two I believe, I do love the look of it and would like to see a new game use this kind of digitized art done well.
I remember playing this game with my older cousins. In hindsight, I think that they were torturing me.
Great review Vic. The crazy thing that the Genesis version is a lil better in some spots, but still not a good game. The music is great, but everything else about it is MEH or terrible. And if you tried to get the blueprints for the extra gadgets, it’s really bad!
I played this on the Genesis back when I was a kid and yes it’s a terrible game with terrible controls,but I liked the music and level design which made it entertaining despite not getting past the first level..and a final note the worst Batman film goes to Batman & Robin!
never even watched that one. i already thought forever was overly silly and thought batman and robin looks evem more silly.

Great revies vic. I wish some of the great sidescrolling developers(that made Deadcells, Super Metroid, or sprelunky) would make a classic Sidescrolling Batman game today.
Spent a tonne of time on the first level trying to learn the controls for this when i was a kid. Got decent at it but trip and uppercut spam sprinkled with gadget use seemed to be the way to go. Finding the secrets was kind of fun as well. I don't think i ever beat this game though. Not legitimately anyway.
I got this version for my 10th birthday in 1995 and even though I enjoyed the movie as a kid (the hype around the film was crazy and my local radio station played Kiss From A Rose so many times per hour that Summer haha), I didn't have fun with this game lol. I could never defeat Riddler. Maybe I should go back and tackle this and finally knock it off my list... 25 years later haha!
I rented this game from Mega Movies in Richmond when it came out. Man, was I ever disappointed.

I remember actually liking this game as a kid but playing it now I'm emulating the PC version because flashy cutscenes and the best audio...
But the gadget special moves are just absolutely heinous. This is Street Fighter 1 level difficulty of execution.
There's no input buffering, different quarter circle moves require different execution speeds, which is Mind-boggling.
And as a fighting game player I naturally wanna execute SO MUCH FASTER than this game can register. PAIN
I think Konami should have made this game with the same idea as what acclaim did since Konami did Lethal Enforcers using digitized actors and making better fighting, stage, bosses for each game, and I think they could have made it similar to Batman Returns and Batman Forever the Arcade game. Or use both ideas for this current game as a hybrid.Batman Forever would have been a better game. The songs in the game would stay but make it only play in one stage each and have some songs from the film.

I remember wanting to love this game when it came out.
I remember when this came out it took me the entire day to figure out how to properly play it. One whole day just to figure out how to beat 1 fucking stage. It helped because by the time I got to stage 2, I was ready. By the time I got done with the game, I remember asking myself, was this worth it?
Loved playing this on Genesis with my brother. Hard as heck with the 3 button controllers though. Never beat the clown stage, couldn't figure it out. Maybe I'll beat with save states one day. Spent most of the time in the fighting arena mode. Watermelon guy too OP. Would ride chainsaws again. Good times.
That score was 2 generous.
Last time I saw Vic give a Batman game a bad review was on Reviews on The Run, and that was Batman Dark Tomorrow.

Hearing how hard this is makes me feel better about quitting this game in the first level when I was like, 7 or 8 years old, lol.
I remember renting this 2X for the Genesis back in the day because I just couldn't face the fact that I couldn't figure it out...
i love this reviews of super heroes 16 bits era, i belive you will enjoy some of my fan games, i did somes which was my dream when kid, i just put all this heroes at one game.

I remember renting this because I loved Batman Returns and being so disappointed that I didn't make it far and felt like I wasted my rental. I complained to the rental store owner about how awful the game was and he said he was actually TAKING IT OFF THE SHELF because all he ever got was complaints about even having it there to rent. The game is truly a giant waste of the Batman license, even if the developers worked very hard the end result is sadly just a bad game that makes everyone who is playing it unhappy.

I think the music was the worst part. It made everything feel drab. Imagine if this game had the movie OST or even the Batman Forever The Arcade Game OST. Listen to that, that OST is more action packed.

it controlling like mortal kombat was pretty badass, but my dumbass baby brain couldnt get past lvl 1

BATMAN is my favourite thing ever and I had such high Hope's for this. It looked cool, but played terribly

The PlayStation and Saturn ver. was waaaaaayy better!! Thankfully I have the rare PlayStation copy. The SNES and Genesis editions were garbage and hard as hell!! I think I rented this didn't get far and took it back for something else lol..
I know this game is awful, but as a kid, I actually remember sort of enjoying it somewhat.
Y’know Vic, some people would consider Luke Skywalker a superhero. And there are plenty of old Star Wars games... Just sayin... 🤔

I still like the the movie quite a bit. Mostly because of Carrey.
Me and my brother could never beat this game so we would just play the mode where you just beat up the computer it's been so long I don't remember if you could beat up each other but yeah terrible game
Not getting the gadget out? Sounds like street fighter 2 lol which is worse since it’s consider the best and the moves are way to difficult to master to be really good at it. If you out there are good I commend you and this game should be a breeze.
Also, why does Robin look so...strange? He looks so cheap and since it's MK technology, it's all due to costume. He doesn't even look like the Robin from the movie. He looks more like the Burt Ward Robin, but, way, way worse due to the extremely oversized bandana.

This game, along with other games with digitized graphics (eg. DKC), look FAR better on a CRT TV.
While I agree that the game wasn't that good, I disagree on the movie. It was very entertaining.
I have this game and I was alway got stuck on the level after the circus level and if you dye it doesn't let you retry that level again it just forces You to replay the whole game I lost a lot of nights and I gave up I hate this game
All you had to say was that Probe made it. Yuck.
