2000hp Twin Turbo 540ci Bubble Top Impala | Great 8 Finalist at Detroit Autorama

- Опубліковано 15 чер 2023
- This '61 Chevy Bubble Top Impala is truly one of the finest builds I've ever seen. Built by Steve Cook for Gil Losi with the intent of winning the coveted Ridler Award at the Detroit Autorama they went all in and they went deep. At the heart of this beast is a 540ci twin turbo Moran Racing engine making 2000hp but currently detuned down to 1800hp and it sits on a one off custom Art Morrison chassis with Ride Tech's Shockwave system. This is truly a rolling work of art and thanks to Gil's family and Brandon from Overdriven Performance we got to spend a day with it so sit back and enjoy the ride...

Still confused how this channel isn't in the million sub mark. Some of the best camera crew and personalities
right
He's growin. I came with 100, 000 or less..
Appreciate all your comments, it helps us to share our content. Thank you, we are committed to feature badass vehicles!!👊
It’s a channel for real car guys.
💯
Side burns even Elvis would be proud of 👏
Lol!!
Are you kidding 550,000, honestly sounds like a steal to me for that beautiful beast of an automobile, coolest Impala ever!
Lots of $$ but a steal is right with this build
@@AutotopiaLA wat is hp
@@Justin-bz1dpthe power the engine makes....... 🧐
If you can swing it that is actually a bargain. I was guessing 1m, could not be done for this amount.
That car is one of those "complete package" Trophy level hot rods. A work of art that can be experienced!
Agreed all the way
@@AutotopiaLA he
I would never sell this car for a lesser price. With all the craftsmanship and history in this car it’s priceless. It’s one of one. To sell this car for half of its worth is an insult. RIP Gil Losi❤️
1.4mill
I'm an Aussie and Gil Losi was a fantastic guy and I own 25 Losi rc cars. Some I've I've built and put up on a shelf. I'll keep buying them as long as my bank and my wife will allow me
Love this comment!
I agree 💯
I absolutely dig that old vintage original "Boyd Hot Rods" sign, very nice piece!
He was deeply involved with Boyd’s business
“It’s de tuned to 1800hp”
Those words are what dreams are made of…
Rest easy Gil ❤
Can it put all thoses horses down? not sure about that.
@@mura0 the point is nobody’s putting all their horses down but when you got 2000 hp you’re still putting down a hell of a lot more than most
@mura0 She'd let you know what kind of driving skills you have if you tried to put it all to the ground, even in detuned mode.✌️✌️🤙🤙
@@bowtie-man you better believe she would 💯no doubt about it, you’d better have John Force, Dale Earnhardt, and Mario Andretti skills all balled into 1 if you tempt the full throttle on this beauty 😂
@@bodine2537 Most definitely 👊👊✌️✌️
This bubble top is a work of art. Simply beautiful.
AS OUR HOBBY GROWS, WE NEED TO FOCUS ON PASSING THE TORCH TO THE NEXT GENERATION. SO THE FLAME NEVER GOES OUT.
That’s right John
This might be the sickest car you’ve had on the show. Well done.
Certainly one of them. Stunning build
@@AutotopiaLA they noot 2000 hp
@@Justin-bz1dp Dude, it's stated in the title.
This is without a doubt the best 61 bubble I've ever seen! Thanks for sharing! PEACE ✌️
I agree. Glad you enjoyed it as well!
I'm a Ford man, but I can appreciate any other nice car, and that bubble top is clean as!
Doesn’t get cleaner imo
I always said the 61 was the coolest impala ever. Thanks for sharing this fabulous ride.
What! Gil Losi! Clicked on the video because i love Impalas. Pleasantly surprised to see the car's linkage to the RC legend. Love the car even more now.
I gravitated to Team Losi, which is his Radio Controlled Vehicle division. One of my cars has some Team Losi parts, and his engineering prowess is proven with the parts design and their durability. He is a TRUE legend among the RC Vehicle community and will be greatly missed.
You're not lying there. I used to have an LXT. I could jump that thing down a 20 foot hill, have it nose dive into doing 5 carthweels and be completely fine.
Great comment! Bummed I never got to meet him
@Davivd2 i had the first gen Traxxas E-Max, and he made hop up parts for it. I had the wheelie bar for that, and for my HPI RS4 Sport 2, I would use his springs and his spur gears. I could wheelie my E-Maxx at least halfway down the block. The E-Maxx is wrecked, and I still have it. The one thing that did last on it is the wheelie bar.
@AutotopiaLA i got to meet some of the early team members from Team Losi. They were at my local hobby shop. It was called Hobby Shack at the time. Then later, it changed to Hobby People. Now, out of business, I make sure to keep those memories intact.
This car is insane, red and black are my favorite colors .
Rip Mr Losi🙏
Great camera work guys
Thanks. My crew crushes it everytime
Who ever gets that car is going to be one lucky buyer. Hopefully they put some miles on it! Its stunning
Hopefully it gets driven a lot!
If any car company (other than Koenigsigg) wants to know what perfection looks like, look no further. Holy damn! BEAUTIFULL!!!
I knew it was close to a million dollar build just looking at the small details that took hours and hours.
No question about it
My absolute dream car...I own some nice cars, but I'd love a 61 Bubbletop and that one is the best of the best.
Doesn’t get finer than this for build quality
I real head turner and conversation starter,Will put a smile on your face every time you drive it or just having a coffee sitting back looking at it.
Thanks for sharing 👍🏻.
Absolutely love this model and year impala! ❤️
It will be the first car in my collection, maybe not this one, but a bubble top 60's impala. Autobahn anyone?
✌🏻🧡🤘👍🏻🌤 🇨🇦 😉.
Awesome!
Dang man, I put this right up there with the silver Regal! Never thought I'd ever say that! Tremendously top shelf! Leaves you searching for words!!
Words failed me big on this one. Wow is about all I could say
TRUTH! REALLY... NOTHING BUT TRUTH!

Wow awesome car's , R.I.P Gil Losi , and seen Boyds sign on the wall and all the helmets are really cool to 😎👍🏽and the row of car's 🙏
The fact that the creator never got to enjoy it breaks my heart.
Same for me man
Badass car after badass car. Good work Autotopia crew
Thank you! I search constantly for the best vehicles to show off here
I admire and respect good stewardship with someone's property after passing.
Brandon is the right guy for the job without question
61 bubble always been the coolest
I like older BMWs too with the bubble tops
Shawn had the shear fear look in that regal t-type! Lol, straight scary/panic look! 😆👍🥋
And loving it the whole time!
Let's not forget Gil Losi's contribution to the Remote Control Car racing hobby!! His brand is still one of the top tier RC cars.
Wow beautiful 61 Chevy bubble top Impala 😎
Absolutely beautiful a beautiful 61 , with lots of HP doesn't get any better
Wow, Shawn, wow! The quality of the work is spectacular.
I love how this show gets into the nitty gritty details of these cars. Plus the selection is absolutely amazing.
I try giving a good sense of what has been built
I had a Losi RC truck as a kid. RIP Gil
I NEVER EVER SEEN SUCH A BEAUTIFUL ABSOLUTELY IMPRESSIVE AS THIS IS A UNBERLEALE CREATION OF PURE WORKMANSHIP AND THE TIME,HOURS TO MAKE IT HAPPENED IS MIND BOGGLING WOW SORRY FOR YOUR LOSS R.I.P.

Such a clean build
I just love cars so damn much . I could just stare at my car for minutes on end . This impala is beautiful
Dude! I moved to So Cal in 1984 at the age of 11. One of my first skateboards was a Variflex! Sure, they weren't great, but it kicked the door open for skating! Definite legend! This car is amazing! Plus you kinda had a "oh shit" face in this car which is awesome lol. What a amazing car!
Small oh shit face…man I was floored getting to shoot this legend!
Sean this happens to be my favorite car.❤
I get it. Stunning build on all points
MOST BEAUTIFUL & BAD ASS BUBBLE TOP !! GREAT JOB !! JESSE VIA LAS VEGAS
The bubble top Impala has the best design of that era of automobiles
I'm with you bro, how is this not a multi million sub channel. Love the content.
Thanks. Working on it! I appreciate your support on what me and the crew do together 👊
That build is good looking, naughty, nasty and just the way I like it. Detuned to 1800hp, I chuckled with ya Sean. Mind's blown with the detail work that went into this build, incredible art
Definitely made me laugh hearing “detuned to 1800!” What an amazing build
Wat kind wick is dune to car
When I was a kid we would see 61' Chevys everyday going up and down the road.
Legendary builder total fanatic and simply perfect… excellently done… great video..
My first car was a 61 4dr hard top, in 1972 at 15 years old...LOVE THIS!!!!!
Getting close to 500k subs! What a milestone! Can't believe I have been lucky enough to be on this ride watching you uplift the channel from the very early of days!!!!
GREAT VIDEO SHAWN!!!! YOU MADE MY DAY!!!! PLEASE CONTINUE TO SPEAK YOUR TRUTH.
Thank you and truth is all you’ll get outta me brother
Wow. Stunning doesn’t even begin to describe that car
Words fail in describing this build
What an absolute gem of a hot rod. This is exactly the kind of modding that I admire. Something that looks like a stockish to a bystanster with a drop and wheels, but a complete one off build that can only be fully appreciated by an enthusiast.
Truly one of the ultra finest car builds I've have ever seen in my lifetime THERE WILL NEVER BE ANOTHER LIKE IT EVER THE FINEST OF FINE I'M TOTALLY IN AWE BRANDON YOUR A VERY LUCKY MAN TO HAVE KNOWN HIM AND HIM MAKING YOU THE CARETAKER OF HIS CREATIONS JUST WOW MAN
A true work of art

That 61 is BADASS!!..
Good freaking lord.... I can barely believe that such a gorgeous car even exists. What an absolute beauty..😍😍
I like that the videos are longer

Thanks for the input. I love the work our new editor has been doing
THANK YOU SO MUCH GIL. FOR ALL THAT YOU HAVE DONE FOR THE HOT ROD COMMUNITY. I REALLY APPRECIATE IT.
A phenomenal badass beast, everything plus the kitchen sink. This man has ingenious set up,class act, the sound killer. Thanks Shawn for another awesome 👌 video. This is a happening TCB
Glad you enjoyed it as much as I did. What an experience this was!
That bubble top is so next level. Shockwaves are proper, that's so well done.
LITERALLY RIDICULOUS! DREAM CAR RIGHT HERE
New drinking game! Every time he says "dude"... I'll save you all a seat in rehab. Love watching this channel! Great job!
What a beautiful car I remember these when new.
The frame work alone is a show stopper than with everything else this car should be in a glass case
True artistry at its finest
Gorgeous car build. 1961 Chevy Impala, the year I was born. I had a 1972 Chevy Impala with a 1972 Chevy Camaro engine I built.
I always loved the '58 Chevy - now like '61 !!! (also) and '96 Caprice .
You guy just keep hitting them out of the park with these incredible machines!
That’s the goal constantly
Awesome Shawn...... Fabulous work 👏👏...... Greetings from India 🙏🙏
Well, just to start I have never seen another car like this so well planned out to the T..... there are so many 1 off details that yes this car should have won the Riddler. This car is way beyond amazing.....a real work of art.
You nailed it here
DAMN! What an insane Impala!
Incredible what they did with this one
Gil got good taste my neighbors in Aruba had one back then.😎🇺🇸✌🏽
A friend of mine had a bubble top built 350 and he wrecked it totally. I was about to Cry.
Now that is a lead sled!
Masterclass.....Much respect to all the craftsman that put this work of art together......
My first skateboard was a variflex! And that is one sick car the details are off the chain
Always excited for this Chanel
Thank you! So many crazy rides lined up right now. Wait til you see the DeBerti episodes we just shot…awesome!
I love bubble tops in general, but this one is over the top. Beautiful build, i am sure they are very proud of their build. 😁😁😁
Best custom car show on UA-cam…maybe all platforms. Always know your gunna see something special when these guys upload🔥💪
A gloriously gorgeous '61, very brutal & slick as Hell!
Beauty and beast packaged flawlessly
This car is perfection.
I'm going to be honest, I'm a picky person but there are no complaints on this car.
HAPPY FATHER'S DAY TO EVERYONE EVERYWHERE!!!!
This will be the first million dollar Impala
Don’t know about that but I think it’s one of the best Impala’s I’ve ever seen
Favorite year. Can't beat those body lines.
