Thank you, Librarian, for playing my map! It was so exciting to see you'd done a video on it. And thanks to you and everyone else for all the positive comments about it! You had a great intuition for how the puzzles worked and that was nice to see, though unfortunately I was never able to get custom soundscapes working and the stock ones don't fit too well. Also, the squeal in the maze isn't supposed to happen as easily but I never got around to fixing that. About the crystals, there is actually something about them in the workshop Q&A thread, but I guess that's kind of deeply buried. Ultimately they don't do anything except when put together, play a full piece of drone music you can control the eb and flow and stereo image of in-game. There's also supposed to be some text in the world around the soundtrack QRs and buttons in the dev room using point_message, but it looks like they don't show up in VR. Hope I'll release another map someday that's worthy of a fun exploration for you and everyone else!
I added and positioned that horse statue specifically so that it would be a dark, person-resembling mass visible at a distance on the edge of the doorways. I'm both very sorry and not sorry at all.
even though the intro song is so new, i still feel really nostalgic for it. there is something about your videos that make me feel that way, especially the gmod maps. you unintentionally changed so many peoples lifes, including mine.
Nice video librarian, you should check out locomotive 115. Its a new horror game about managing a steam train while supernatural stuff try's to kill you.
7:15 Both love and hate that with Source where getting out of water and onto a ledge is easy but sometimes triggers just a tad too easily. Map makers, NEVER put water into a hole that is roughly the size of most video game vents. It's damn near impossible to get into in the Source engine.
I've waited MONTHS for this, ever since I found this map on my own. Now just gotta wait for that ULTRAKILL part 3 video and my life will be complete...maybe
16:47 When I first checked out this map, I got very Quake vibes from this. This part looks almost otherworldly. 21:01 I would definitely say dreams become more concrete as we progress through childhood in to adulthood. At least mine did. They're still very abstract, but far more solidly sensory experiences. Though the places maybe make as little sense as they would as a kid, they just seem more well-defined. 34:28 This is where I spawned when I first played this map I think. 38:00 Big open pool rooms like at a university or something will tend to have the kinda of lamps which will buzz and you'll hear the buzz if the room is quiet enough. Though I guess such a large room which normally has a bunch of people diving and doing laps and splashing around in general that's so quiet of any other sounds that you can hear the lights is liminal in itself. 43:48 Never broken a bone? Lucky. And yeah being wet is definitely an issue. Casts don't do well with water. 1:00:40 I can't say i knew anything about the crystals either. i just explored the map then cheated to find the dev room haha.
One bizzare thing i tend to do with maps imagine them as though they were some kind of race track, almost like something out of mario kart, or forza. This one would be the opposite of rainbow road, a very long narrow track with almost no way of falling off.
Speaking of weird but compelling and atmospheric architecture: I've wondered for a while whether or not you're familiar with Tsutomo Nihei's manga BLAME! ? It's just an odyssey across an incredibly huge space that's "maybe on Earth, maybe in the future" with many pages just a lone wanderer passing through all sorts of places without any dialogue or explanation. - Some comment somewhere even describing it as if someone made paranoid schizophrenia into architecture IIRC.
I can remember having one dream in a waterpark and I do often dream about the car. I’m in going into the water, but I wouldn’t say that walking in water is a reoccurring theme in my dreams at all. I think dreams are far more personal and far less generalized.
What I would give to see a map that changes its layout every so often like you enter a room once then when you enter the room again its completely different.
I enjoyed watching this Video of gm_cyan_Dreampools. The Creator did an awesome job with the whole Map. The Shapes, Sizes, Colors, even the Sounds. Whatever the Crystals do. Maybe the Creator will explain where you need to put them and what it unlocks. It’s the First Time that I see in a Garry’s Mod so many QR Codes.
I still can't get over the fandom wiki reaction to the almond smell coming from the water, being that it's actually almond water and it's a heal juice.
The first QR code directs to Spirits of Rhea The second directs to Kiln of the First Flame (Unreleased) [Extended] The third directs to Homeworld 2 Soundtrack 32 - Dreanought Berth
the only dreams i get are jumpscares of goofy ahh stuffs, for example, i was playing on my pc in my dream and then suddenly a JONKLER jumped out of the screen.. i was HORRIFIED.. and woke up after that
I've no clue about the crystals, but to me it looks like the red crystal is supposed to spawn somewhere in the area you looked last before doing no-clip at around 1:00:00 And I think maybe they came in pairs or at least loops? A location would show another location, which itself either showed the original location or another location I didn't look close enough to confirm that it was pairs like I suspect, but I suspect you had to go to a location marker before it would spawn the crystal in the location depicted.
That's actually false! The smell is from chlorine reacting and eliminating things like bacteria. Which, while it does include urine, is far from the main source ☆
I created them, they are separate tracks of a piece of drone music I never quite finished. You are supposed to be able to mix the sounds however you want within the space of the game, but it kind of falls flat because of the limitations or bugs of ambient_generic.
I've never undestood fears of sall spaces. A small space is safe. It's where you go to hide when somehing is after you. In an open space you have nowhere to run to and nowhere to hide and all you can do is hope that you're faster.
I'm no claustrophobic, but from what I know, it usually has something to do with being trapped. I've seen claustrophobics in therapy express that trapped feeling. One can develop claustrophobia from a traumatic event involving being trapped especially at an early age; e.g. getting locked in a closet, or being under the rubble of a collapsed building. Someone I know got theirs from getting their head stuck bet. the bars of a railing for half an hour as a kid.
@@KyanoAng3l0_24 Meanwhile I trap myself in a small space when I'm scared because any percieved threat presumably can't hurt my through the wall. It has to come through the door that's right in front of me.
@@lexibyday9504 Same here, actually. Different experiences, I suppose. For claustrophobics, it's not being able to escape to the safety of the outside world. For us, it's the outside world that's dangerous.

That QR code at 17:01 linked to a song called spirits of rhea. You should check it out, its pretty good
Bro that activated something in the map i had a Heart attack
@ThorstenBöhm-u7x What happened?
@Conk4668 it triggered some earthquake in the map don't know how
@ThorstenBöhm-u7x Interesting. I'll have to check that out myself once I get the map on the workshop
@Conk4668 or maybe it was something else but i thing Earthquakes don't happen naturally in this map
The horse statue petrified me, this map is so terrifying, my imagination goes wild. You are braver than I for playing this map, holy... I couldn't!
I added and positioned that horse statue specifically so that it would be a dark, person-resembling mass visible at a distance on the edge of the doorways. I'm both very sorry and not sorry at all.
Careful not to fall into the pools… it doesn’t taste very good.

Sweet, glad you finally played this one! Very happy you found the secret room since it was the main reason for me suggesting you play it.
27:11 my heartrate shot up. usually never happens but i really hated the atmosphere in that maze already
You sound like an art critic who is fun to be around
ive had only one dream where it was a lucid dream, I was fighting and I wasn't being slowed down, landed good punches on my imaginary enemies face
Had that happen only once when I was young too, it’s an incredibly empowering feeling to triumph over a nightmare like that

9:32 "I was a fish, I loved swimming" in the dream?? in real life??
I think fish as a comparison. Not a literal fish ♡
Yeah man he literally was a fish, he just grew out of it
It was a metaphor.

I know this is trivial, but looking around at all the tile & grout needed to put this place together is astonishing. 4:25 👍🏼😀
