Just sad and tragic to see actors and actresses at the height of their fame and their lives cut short by some obsessed fan, jealous and abusive ex, or some cult fanatic like Charles Manson, who is resting "IN HELL WHERE HE BELONGS". But one child actor who life was tragically cut short was the late Judith Barsi, who stared in Jaws the revenge and got her start in early sitcoms. Her own abusive father murdered her and her mother before taking his own life. Just sad.

Melcher didn't own the Tate murder house an Italian casting director did. Melcher and Lauren Bacall were the previous tenants. Manson had been to the house with Dennis Wilson to meet Melcher. The killer went to that house because Manson thought that Melcher was still living there.

I read a book about Sharon Tate's (et al) murder. In the book it was brought out that Terry Melcher and Charles Manson were supposedly performing together prior and that Melcher had promised a deal with Manson, but never followed through. So the book brought out that Melcher was the target, but since the killers were undoubtedly high and had no clue, just killed everyone in the house.

Good video on a tragic subject. Couple of things of note- you have the wrong secretary in the Bob Crane montage- that was Cynthia Lynn, not Sigrid Valdis, who left the show as a regular due to issues with Bob Crane. It was disrupting her marriage. Sigrid Valdis took her place, and Crane eventually got with her, later marrying her.
The second thing- What kind of "man" sits there inside the house for 5 minutes while a woman is strangled outside? There had to be something- even a broom- that he could have used to save that girl, if he didn't feel he could do it alone. Just making the guy let go for a few seconds would have probably saved her life. Gutless coward.

Not only did Dominique Dunne's killer get next to no jail time, the "friend" in the house did nothing to help her and should have been charged too. I've read in other reports that he was watching tv and turned up the volume to drown out her screams. The cruelest murder was that of poor little Judith Barsi, who was at the mercy of both her abusive parents. Her mother didn't want to leave the abusive husband as then Judith wouldn't be able to work and make money.

He sat on her until her heart stopped and all her organs failed. He was too drunk to perform CPR. By the time the paramedics got her to the hospital she was brain dead. He has not yet been tried for the crime, but the case his still open.

So let me get this straight, Dominique Dunne showed up to set with REAL bruises from a physical altercation with her abusive boyfriend the night before and nobody thought to report it? They just went on filming and pretended that her character got the bruises from being in the LITERAL SAME situation? Got it. That’s HollyWEIRD for ya.
