This is an old video but it will always remain as one of the best presentations and explanation; simple and concise. It can be understood by anyone. Great.
Excellent. Simple and to the point. I like that you didn't spray brake clean once on anything. No harm was done to the ozone in the making of this video. Certifed organic.
your vids has given me confidence to do it myself i have my tdi 10 years now so you know it has given me its fair share of breakdowns ware and tear. But here we are another problem another fix Thanks Bro truly apreciate your vids
Good video! People watching should always lube the areas you have shown for good operation a lot of people just throw parts on but it is important slides are clean and areas where pad touches are lubed whether it be anti seize or brake lube.
Great job man...I like the way you do things and especially the safety precautions when working with a car...keep up the good work.Greetings from Greece!!!
Bmac working them brakes like a nice slab of ribs lol. Slather it up baby. And uh oh, freshening up on brakes must mean that 7 year sitter is driving again lol. Hopefully be driving it daily come Monday. Got lucky with the head gasket sealer working on the 2nd application that sure up the leaks. Rad fan working with AC on so was able to get it up and idle as long as the AC is on. That fan controller just came in today which should be last piece of the puzzle. First proper shakedown drive instantly reminded me of why i love that ride so much. So light with the turbo just gives it the get up and go a lot of hatches these days are lacking. Had a 2012 Veloster for a year and loved the creature comforts but damn was it anything but quick. That got slammed into by an uninsured driver not too long ago, but guess i cant be too mad about it. That made me finally stop putting off just picking up a f'n wrench... Preciate the vids as always mane. Remember: "It ain't that I'm too big to listen to the rumors, It's just that I'm too damn big to pay attention to 'em, That's the difference" Leave the "Tea" for the ladies gents.
You just got another subscriber friend. Very clear to understand and follow. Think I will order the parts in and book the day off work to do this my self now.
Great video, very well put together. A great informative and useful, clear and helpful video. Just a helping hand: you said in the video when you took a plug out (3:40) that it was a sensor til check if the brakes are worn. It ws in fact the ABS sensor, and the sensor mounted on the brake pad itself, is the brakes wear sensor (after market parts dont often have this sensor) Take care when working with ABS related parts, they are pricey parts to replace :-) thanks for the helpful video
Good job, I like it :)) I was able to change my oil filter from your previous videos, many thanks for the time and effort you have put in. As a general thumbs up, I never skip the adverts to support you.
Very good video. I think you could have said to make sure the handbrake's on tight at the beginning, and also to put the brake fluid reservoir cap back on at the end. Axle/jack stands would be good practice, but you can get by without them if you're careful.
Good point on the stands and hand brake. Also, the brake fluid reservoir cap should always be closed tightly after any servicing or addition of fluid -- to keep moisture out of the brake fluid.
Very nice tutorial man :) maybe for the future i would advise you to use cooper grease instead of antisieze, its usualy more heat resistant and more durable. Anyways very nice video!
Great videos, may I suggest you emphasise using axle stands & also to pump brakes after refitting pads & then check fluid level. Not a criticism, just observation. Keep up great work!
does the wheel need to be turned out on jacking up to get the rubber gromets as in the video the wheel was straight when you took the wheel off but was turned when you showed us the rubber gromets. thanks
Nice video mate, detailed and simple! I am wondering where you buy your tools. Special those allen, torx, 12 point bits and brake piston "retrieval" tool. Keep up the good work.
Hi, I will replace front and rear rotors and pads on my Golf TDi 2006. Questions is: When you push caliper piston down, is it must be twisted or you can simple push it down use big C-clamp? Cheers from BC, Michael
Legend! Need more VW videos brother! I got a 1.4 1J2 small engine for insurance purposes we all go through that. I need to squeeze few horses out of it. I know it's a bad engines from the forums I been watching. Any ideas? I'm going to get rid of the Air con Pump. I think it's a engine parasite especially if you live in Cold Areas like Ireland where I'm at
THANK YOU VERY MUCH,, MR EXPERT :D for sharing the video with us i would like to ask you something, can you please show us how to replace the drive-shaft? Clutch kits & Flywheel? my car currently in the driveway :( thank you
thank you so much for this video - have you thought about doing an upgrade series? Eg: standard mk4 TDi - upgrade rotor size/calipers GTi etc front rear. Cloth seats to leather - standard steering wheel to GTi wheel. What to think about when up sizing wheels etc Thanks your kiwi friend from NZ
good video straight forward but only one negative aspect : never push back the old breake fluid from the caliper to the ABS sistem open the bleeder vent and colect the old dirty fluid
Sounds like you probably have some air bubbles in the brake lines- best bet is to try bleeding the brakes (and top off the brake fluid reservoir as needed afterwards) and that should take care of the issue!
I am having HORRIBLE brake squeals. Pads AND rotors are new. Followed this video to the point. Any suggestion/ideas as to why this is? Again, I really cleaned the calipers using steel brushes, alcohol, brake cleaner, and even anti-squeal substance.
I have researched, and it seems I need to grease the caliper guide pins. I also have a missing pin on one of my front calipers. I assume the disproportionate pressure is causing the squealing?
This is an old video but it will always remain as one of the best presentations and explanation; simple and concise. It can be understood by anyone. Great.
very clear very easy to understand i was looking online for a DIY brake pad change and couldnt find anything good but this nice vid
Glad i could help, make sure to subscribe
sure thing at 3:39 u make it look easy it aha took me 5 minutes just to get the damn sensor off o well jobs done thanks agn
5 years on and I still reference your vids BMAC. Thanks bud, nice and detailed and easy to follow
Excellent. Simple and to the point. I like that you didn't spray brake clean once on anything. No harm was done to the ozone in the making of this video. Certifed organic.

Best how-to video I've seen on youtube! Thanks!
best instructional video on the net! thanks! nobody is mentioning about opening break fluid cup except you and your video saved my day :)
Thank you
The cap on the brake fluid reservoir needs to be closed tight afterward to keep moisture from the air from getting into the system.
Cheers for the Video, change both fronts today, took about 30 mins and saved me a few quid, nice one.
Excellent, don't forget to add me to Facebook.com/bmacvags
Good video! People watching should always lube the areas you have shown for good operation a lot of people just throw parts on but it is important slides are clean and areas where pad touches are lubed whether it be anti seize or brake lube.

Yes sir, I'm ready to see what else you have in store for us.
Excellent
started my Bora after a 8 month lay off and the brake (on some side) feels like it is grinding. What would you prescribe to do?
clear and nice video. ++ for putting wheel under car 👍
Subscribed straight away :-)
I appreciate that
Nice, usefull, practical! thanks!
Excellent videos, production & content! Thank-you for sharing your knowledge.
Don't you have to wind the piston back? I've heard it can damage the seal on the piston of you just force it back with brute force?
Can this be applied to a 2007 Jetta?..
And, when you open the brake fluid cap .. that could allow air to get into the system?
And don't forget to reseal fluid cap at the top. Just needed to double check. As ever, useful.
You did perfect job 👍
Thank you! Cheers!
Thanks mate for the video
Excellent video ! Thank you..
Did he used a 256mm brake disc or a 260mm
good video straight forward but only one negative aspect : never push back the old breake fluid from the caliper to the ABS sistem open the bleeder vent and colect the old dirty fluid
Brill tutorial many thanks . Maurice
Good video . Thanks .
Great vid!
Thanks for sharing dude. Top man!
Thank you
your videos rock
Excellent video very informative. Subbed.
brilliant video thanks. but after put everything back together my pedal is soft it brakes only work when i press it right down. HELP
Sounds like you probably have some air bubbles in the brake lines- best bet is to try bleeding the brakes (and top off the brake fluid reservoir as needed afterwards) and that should take care of the issue!
***** Thanks pal. That's what I thought.
Cheers, nice and easy !
Hi, Do you have to bleed air from brake system after changing the front brake pads and discs?
for pads no, for discs you need to bleed cause you disconnect the brake lines
very good video! keep it that way mate!!! (:
I am having HORRIBLE brake squeals. Pads AND rotors are new. Followed this video to the point. Any suggestion/ideas as to why this is? Again, I really cleaned the calipers using steel brushes, alcohol, brake cleaner, and even anti-squeal substance.

can i use copper slip as anti seize?
goonzjav Yeah you can. Copper slip is good
