I’m confused I thought the whole purpose of the bunkie board was to create a solid base on top of a slat foundation, but itself has slats? That doesn’t make sense to me.

The slats on a bed frame serve as the primary support structure for the mattress. Even with a bunkie board, the slats are necessary because they distribute the weight of the mattress and sleeper evenly across the frame, helping to maintain the integrity of both the bed frame and the mattress.
Here’s why the slats are still important:
Weight Distribution: The slats help evenly distribute the weight across the bed frame, preventing any single part of the frame from bearing too much load. This helps avoid damage to the frame and ensures the bed remains stable.
Support: The slats provide additional support to the bunkie board, preventing it from bending or sagging. Without slats, the bunkie board would have to bear all the weight on its own, which could lead to reduced support and potential damage to both the board and the mattress.

Yeah I’m sorry but this is ridiculous. All the Bunkie boards I have looked at do NOT have slats. Don’t buy one with slats if you are trying to make a solid base for your specific mattress.

Can you use a bunkie board for an adjustable base if you only keep it flat. Asking about my old metal futon frame. I only keep it flat😯🧐🤔🥺💝💐🦋🇺🇲

if its just like the adjustable base in this link here: furniturefair.net/blogs/lc/what-are-adjustable-bases, then a bunkie board is not really needed. to answer your question though, if you plan to keep the adjustable bed base flat, then yes it is okay to keep the bunkie board on top. However, it will not provide anymore support for you and your mattress above it. now if this is going on top of a metal futon frame, then a bunkie board is great for that.

@@africarenee ah, if its just a standard futon base, then a Bunkie board shouldn't be needed. Maybe if the mattress is thinner, the board would provide some more support. However, if its a standard futon mattress or a decent regular mattress i think you are okay without having a bunkie board under it. we hope this helps answer your question a little better.

@@furniturefair Thank you. The futon is so uncomfortable. I wondered if I could put a regular mattress on it. Then bunkie board support came up. You think I don't need a bunkie board? 🤔🥰💝💐🦋🇺🇲

We have an old metal bed with exposed springs as the base. Can we put a bunkie board between that and the mattress to stabilize it?

Hello, thank you for reaching out to us! A bunkie board or box spring should be okay to place between your mattress and bed.
