While it is necessary for Democrats to bring up the idea of replacing Biden as a candidate, let's not forget that this person is the current President of the United States. Many people have tried to raise the issue of his capability at this moment for the job. It appears we have been lied to by his staff, and the media, about his fitness for the office. What could happen between now and January, when perhaps a new President will be inaugurated? This is the crucial question.

    Fact checking this podcast:
    1. Northam absolutely said he would be open to killing a baby after birth. Kathy Tran had floated a bill that allowed third trimester abortions that threatened the mental health of the mother, even to the point of birth or during birth. Northam was asked where the line was. He said if a baby had been delivered, there would still need to be a discussion.
    2. Very fine people. I noticed you didn't play the clip. Literal seconds after the very find people line, Trump says, "except for the neo-nazis and white supremacists who should be condemned completely." It's been 7 years WP. Your lying is egregious at this point.
    3. The rules for this debate were set by the Biden Campaign. It was meant to tilt the odds in Biden's behavior. Biden did so poorly that it didn't even do that.
    4. You chose to play a clip of Biden quoting an NBC News article nearly a year old about how 40 of 44 of Trump's executives don't endorse his candidacy. In the article it says a majority ignored NBC's request for a response TOO EARLY in the campaign cycle. It seems like maybe 6 from their list are in the non-endorsement list. Including Mike Pence. He could have said, "your former VP" but he didn't. He quoted a misleading article that hasn't stood up to time and not only did you play it, but you didn't fact check it. Really amateurish work there, WP.
The gatekeeping the Washington Post has done on fact-checking is revoked For 10 years you have tried to reframe your narrative as facts. Your bubble is burst. Your echochamber is collapsed. Your authority is slain.
Be shamed. Be demeaned. You are dismissed from the public square.

Please report on the substance of the debate, what was said? I don't care about someone's speaking style. Both Trump and Biden have given many rambling, incoherent speeches with long awkward pauses. Neither is a great speaker. What was the substance of what was stated?

There is no substance. The only issue is Biden is categorically going to lose to Trump cos he is 147 years old - if you dont want that to happen stop posting fantasies online and get writing letters to the DNC demanding they chance Biden

The substance is that Joe Biden is suffering severe mental decline which begs the question who is actually running the USA as it obviously is not Joe Biden, let alone who might be the Democrat candidate in November.

There was very little substance. So in that respect, it was a normal debate.

Blame Biden's briefing. He was obviously in shock. He hadn't been shown what Trump's been saying.

I surely hope Biden had to have been prepared for more focused responses and directly refuting Trumps lies, but he just never put together a cogent argument for his accomplishments or his agenda for a second term. Biden struggled to make a clear argument about any of the topics. He did seem unprepared to refute Trumps lies even though CNN had stated before the debate that they would only push back against Trump's big lie of 2020 election being stolen. This wasn't a debate, it was a ridiculous two minute/ one minute back and forth talking point exercise with irresponsible "moderators". Biden has been an effective president, and as disappointing as this was, it's not a reason to abandon support for him.

At this point, it would be better to pivot to Harris. Unknown to most, is still better that what we know about Biden. In addition, if Biden dies in office, I believe Speaker of the House becomes V.P. So, there is also high risk of elevating a deeply underqualified Speaker as well. Somebody needs step up and do what's right for the American people & democracy itself.

    • @BizTechSherpa
      @BizTechSherpa 2 дні тому

No on all counts. The speaker of the House does not become VP. If the President dies in office, the VP becomes President. If the President and VP die at the same time, the Speaker of the House becomes President. And finally, Kamala Harris has been lying to the American public about many things, chief among these is the mental state of President Biden. She is not qualified to be President.

We have to take seriously into consideration that, based on what we saw in this debate, the USA will likely see its first female president in 2024 - before the end of this year.

    • @KASPA-KEY

@@suminshizzles6951 Kamala's poll numbers are worse than Biden. Biden had low approval ratings from day 1. If the Dem party embraced actual democracy and had a proper primary election we all probably would have seen Joe is unfit to serve in the early debates. It's probably to late to fix this mess now. The left wing gas lighting media machine messed up.
The damage is done. It's over.
