I think this is actually just shows that Lewis' grappling (at least the portion of it that is used to stand up) is underrated. He doesn't exactly lift Nelson off of him, Nelson postured for a big strike and Lewis had the perfect timing to come up with him and grab an underhook for a half guard sweep/ stand up. Am I the only one that saw him actually use Jiu-jitsu and wrestling technique for most of those stand-ups?
    Half guard sweeps
    Half guard escapes
    Wizzers
Really good framing to create space
    Shrimping
There was also some really bad top pressure by a lot of those opponents.

For everyone including the commentators saying he lacks technique and just "stands up"; rewatch the clips, he clearly understands to pummel the underhook or to frame the opponents face and hip away, he does one variation of these two escapes in every clip in this video. So the answer is yes, bjj works, and Derrick Lewis is doing it. If he was to fight a heavyweight high level black belt or wrestler/judoka that understood to fight the underhook and control the head, he wouldn't stand up so easy. Roy Nelson is a great grappler but he seemed more concerned to deal damage by strikes then to control the position imo.
