The way I understand it, its finding the millisecond openings as a clumsy fighter gets back in to position after missing as a counter. If you are doing it as an attacking technique it's the little push or off-balance you use in order to land your kick. One of my musician friends told me that in music, its known as a minim. The half-beat between the notes. So if it were a drummer, it would be the point when the drummer is lifting his drum stick, rather than beating the drum. But obviously, a drummer can change beat and tempo, which changes the "flow". Now that I try to explain it, I understand the difficulty. I hope this comes across.
@Capoeiratics Funnily enough, I have been doing Capoeira since retiring from muay thai under Muzenza group and Maestro Sargento. The music with the art definitely helps with flow
A predatory animal does not need to calculate whether its prey is in range. It doesnt overthink. It knows when the time is right. It knows how/where to strike instinctively. It just "does". This state of no mind and capitalising on opportunities is the essence, I believe.
There’s a kind of similar term in Japanese martial arts called 間合い - maai. It also gets translated to distance or timing but that is an oversimplification of the original meaning which also entails a moment or feeling and if taken further refers to an in between of something. It all wraps into something like 妙は虚と実の間にある - the mysterious is in between fullness and emptiness Lol anyway keep doing what you do !
Jang-wa has officially been added to my lexicon.
I'm learning so much from you thank you..please keep making these short technical videos!!!

Like it's easier to find your timing during touch sparring, but athleticism and anxiety cloud this judgement as the levels of impact increase.
@@coachcadden broken time and pressure. Music is the key. TACTics
