Just saw this looking for reviews of the exact 2 you videoed. Just what I was looking for. You were able to answer most of my questions, especially the questions where I needed to “see” and compare the differences cause even if you “compare” them you still can’t tell looking at the pictures side by side things like the real tire size difference, deck sizes and so on. Sure, I’ve looked up the dimensions plus everything else I’ve read and seen online, you sometimes just gotta see it (especially the foot/tire comparisons). Your video really just helped me to figure the Apex is definitely the one for my needs. Dude, great video and I hope you do more this style. Thanks
Have an Airens push mower, 25+ yrs. Starts 1st pull every year. And tough. That is why I bought an Ariens Apex 52, WOW its been awesome so far. Actually have to slow it down! Former JD rider.
That apex 60" is actually a really good mower. We almost bought that one out here. For 4800$ brand new. For the price point it's better than the Scag freedom Z in my opinion 🤷♂️. I still would like to get my hands on one of those just to try it out
LOL I got a gravely zt 1534 2005 model for my wife to mow our yard even know she only did it till the new wore off maybe 12 times lol then it was all me and i beat it like a commercial mower . It has never seen a garage or cover.in 16 years I live in south Florida gets rained on daily and have to mow weekly its still running and working strong it is ugly as hell seat rotted but no major rust still rock solid and gets the job done .I think they would last a life time for a home owner up north for sure .Its sealed hydros have never gave me a issue. I am glad she picked it because i would have defiantly over killed the purchase and not even looked at a residential mower .I am a believer will def purchase another residential gravely/ Ariens when time comes . I owned a lawn care business for well over 12 years in the 80s and 90s until got burned out and sold it and have owned dixie chopper exmark snapper Toro grasshopper . And no regrets with my wifes residential Gravely purchase .
This cracks me up. I can just imagine the people walking around looking at you like you're crazy. I bet that was embarrassing but thanks for doing it! I've been looking at the Gravely ZT HD which is essentially the same as that beefy Apex. Kinda have my next mower narrowed down between the Gravely or a Spartan RT Pro. Spartan sure is a lot of mower for the money too.
The Ariens Apex is the equivalent of the Gravely ZT-HD. They are basically one in the same. The Apex is considered a high end residential machine. I just bought a ZT-HD 48 inch and absolutely love it. So I obviously would recommend the Apex. I would suggest going to an independent dealership if you have one nearby though. It will definitely be easier to get warranty work done if you ever need it. If you don't have a dealership nearby then Lowe's would do.
yep same machine.same company.I am not in the market, but almost bought that one lol.But purchased another scag recently. But maybe soon.I am all about dealers
The Apex/ZT-HD have some commercial features (transmissions, deck, tires, frame, etc) which make them very appealing. I wouldn't get one if I owned a commercial business just because of the FR engine. The FR is a great running engine but it's designed for residential use. I wouldn't go anything less than an FX if I mowed commercially. With that said, the best part about the Apex/ZT-HD is the price for what you get. Scag, Toro/Ex-Mark, Hustler, Dixie, etc. are all about $1k more for a comparable model. If you own a 1-3 acre yard, this mower should be right in your wheelhouse.
Husqvarna has a commercial mower very close to price. Also kawasaki makes engines they said. They dont purposely make "cheap" engines.I have worked on them as well. They use the same part numbers. Some have better carbs but rest is same.Commercial mowers also use the kawasaki FS,FH ,kai and FX.the bearings in the engines are the same.same cast liners to.Mainly carbs.even the coils are same. Now briggs makes many grades as they are a super producer to meet certain price ranges.Kawasaki isnt intended to be in a low priced anything.Honda is the same way.I def would buy that apex and I own a lawn business.
niceto see people who know quality in a zero turn. the apex is top of the line with ariens it also carries a comm warrenty, 3100 comm. hydro transmissions. I have one got it new 2028. no regrets excellent quality for the money. just remember to do the maintance on the mower when needed. I use mine commercially. 204 hours last season no problems so far. spoil yourself buy one lol lol lol . great review.
@@jasonmasters9653 sorry Jason that was supposed to say 2018 thank you for catching my typo era. this mower is like driving an old school corvette like 1972 stingray you are proud to be driving it.
Especially when they acquired gravely. I love some gravely.I am in the market for a new walk behind.Husqvarna just release a gravely pro walk with husqvarna label on it(john deere uses the same one).So if my dealer can "make a deal" i will have one.If not will resort to another scag ugh lol
Any thoughts on the Craftsman Zero turns sold at Lowe's? Ive seen them up clise, and really like the tubular frame with those 20 inch tires. Also, the reviews are all high. I did notice the Craftsman decks are stamped though. But they're 13 gauge steel!
apex has commercial hydros, ikon has 2800 pumps.apex by definition is the "apex" of the lineup.Plus it is made better and priced accordingly.both nice.gravely makes them.course ariens owns gravely.
They have really caught my eye with this machine. I've had my cub cadet lt1050 mowing 4 acres for 14yrs. Trust me when I say she's tired. Almost gave up on finding a 3100 hydro on a decent sized zero turn. I really appreciate the side by side comparison showing the "beef" of the apex. I have a few slopes, and wanted Wide stance with the bigger tires also. The cub dealer wants $5700 for a steering wheel model with 3100's! Only reason for steering wheel is for my wife, no learning curve needed. But man, I'm 6'4" 310 and look like a monkey on a football driving my 1050, it just won't die. Lol. This would definitely fit me better. MUCH better. Just not sure about a 60" or go with the 54" deck. Using a 50" now, and going from a rider to a ztr will cut the time by a ton anyways. I believe the price difference is only around $100
bad boy has one same price with 3100.but this apex is beefy.bad boy not so much.zero turn will save you 45% on time.So it will almost cut it in half.good luck on your search!
Ariens makes XL model To. The XL comes with 20" tires. Bigger front tires. And the X is sealed gear box the XL is not. LED Light kit ranges from 109.00 to 150.00 comes with all wiring needed easy install as well. This dude I bet shiny lights impress him as well
they are 2800 series hydro gears.i couldnt tell unless id had laid on the ground.a lot of commercial walk behinds use the same pumps.well most of them.
I visited Lowes today looking over a zero turn mowers' now what I can't understand is that john deer craftsman others' showing it has hydrostatic transmission ; now I own a 24 hp Kubota Diesel finish mower 'which has hydrostatic transmission ' so when I'm using it and going long if I decide to stop and go backward I just press the heel of my foot meaning toe press goes forward heel press goes backwards however on these mowers at Lowes everyone of the zero turn mowers claiming hydrostatic transmission only appears to have forward only if you what to go back it had a R drive slot to the right meaning stop put it in reverse move backwards ' that my friend is not pure hydrostatic transmission , that is like a regular mower' now my UA-cam friends what am I not seeing here that I see on my Kubota 24 HP Diesel

Oh my gosh I want that mower! That big Ariens Apex is f-i-n-e. My local Stihl dealer is also a Gravely dealer. I am so going there to take me a look. How the heck have I not noticed this?! On a side note: Are you considering getting an Apex Ariens to compliment your business? The name-matching I think would be kinda cool.
I just did the same. I really liked the ride of the Raptor SD BUT I narrowed it down to Scag Liberty Z or Ferris 400s. I chose the Scag because of 23hp motor and 52" deck. Ferris was 21.5 and 48" deck for the same price. Delivery is this Saturday and I am pretty excited.
