Yes! The nostalgia is my favorite part of making these videos. I forgot how many gimmick covers I had until I started pulling them out. SO many memories tied to every single one! Thanks for the comment!!!
Somehow I did end up with many of the holofoil covers. I wasn't buying many Marvels in the mid 90's but I think those were irresistible. The Dr. Strange one is fantastic. I even love the Submariner one and it's one of the few Submariner books in my PC. It is the most menacing that he has ever looked. I've never seen the one with the floating rings but it looks amazing. Bagged books I hated with a passion. I felt bad taking scissors to them and if they plastered a sticker, I felt like I had to keep the damn bag. I got over it eventually. The cards were dumb and not worth the bag, but I still have them. I guess it was a step up from cutting out value stamps. This is a great and interesting series and it's exciting watching your subscriber count soar. Being the best kept secret on youtube is overrated.
I'm surprised they don't do that kind of stuff more (holofoil and the like). The technology now is probably amazing for gimmick covers. The last I saw was a lenticular treatment, but they WAY overdid it on too many titles (DC) and they charged too much. Jae Lee was a good fit on Namor and signaled a change in tone from Byrne's version. Bagged books! Uggh. WHO thought that was a good idea?! I am yet to meet anyone who loved buying bagged books. They were exhausting back then. Thanks, as always, for the support and kind words. MUCH appreciated!!!
For sure! I had SO much fun revisiting them! It was amazing all the memories they brought to the surface. The 90's were important to me and these comics are a fun lens to view them through. Thanks for the EXCELLENT comment!!!
Yes! Spinner racks were the best! I'd love to find one to display my comics on if they didn't damage the comics so easily! Still, lots of good memories from the old spinner rack! Thanks for the comment!!!
The concept of the posters was to put them together and it became a giant poster! However, it meant buying 2 copies of each issue, 1 to open and put the posters together and the other kept intact and eventually get graded or sell at a later time!
Yeah. I might have been the only person to actually lay all the poster out to see the full image. SPOILER: It was always a bit of a letdown. It WAS something to look forward to and I was a sucker for that so... Not a total fail. Too funny! Thanks for the comment!!!
I had the Dr Strange and Web of Spiderman ones. Well a dutch version of Web anyways. It's long gone now, but I could have sworn it was less shiny than yours. I think only the webs were foiled. I don't think Spider-man used it a lot. Having characters that traditionally never used armor, suddenly wear armor is usch a 90s thing. I think when Daredevil did it, that was the last straw.
Yeah, they were trying EVERYthing there for a while. Armor on Spidey was jarring! It made a little more sense on DD, but the classic costumes of our favorite heroes are more often than not, the BEST! Thanks for the comments, glad you enjoyed!
@@thecomicsamurai It worked best on Batman during Knightfall, I like Jean Paul Valley's attitude of "Nah, Bruce was to soft. Let's just kill all the criminals."
I remember Marvel comics had these trading cards stuck on the iside of some of their comics. I appreaced the gesture but they were a bit annoying when you wanted to read the comics.
Yes. I felt the exact same way. I appreciated the effort, but... they just didn't work for me. Don't bag anything in the comic either. Uggh. I bought a comic for a comic. If I wanted a trading card, I would have bought a pack of trading cards (which I did). Thanks for the comment!!!
They were pretty bad, but they made GOOD posters look even better by comparison (think early Savage Dragons that had BEAUTIFUL, bright, dynamic centerfold posters). Thanks for the comment!!!
Yes! When a poster was good, I would buy an extra copy and pull the poster out. Such a disappointment when the poster was a letdown. I used to love a good centerfold poster taped on my wall! Thanks for the comment!!!
This is a MUST watch!!!
Dude!
That Amazing Spider-Man 334 is a beautiful cover!
SO many good Spidey covers! Now THERE'S an idea for a video! What series had the most A-tier covers? Thanks for the inspiration!
@@thecomicsamurai Glad I could help lol
These collections hit the nostalgia feels deep. Great set of vids. Can't wait to see the next one.

That one's coming up. Chromium is one of my absolute favorite gimmicks (when it's done right)! Thanks for the comment!!!

Web of Spider-man 100 was my first real gimmick cover I remember and fell in love with. Bought it at a grocery store spinner rack

The midnight sons posters connect to form a full image. You have to put all 6 together to get the full effect.
