In fact, the revolutionary GHS VSD+ vacuum pump shares a lot of its DNA with our compressors. Take the drive train, for instance, the element is essentially a compressor element that was carefully modified for vacuum use. The other parts too look very familiar. The coupling housing or bell housing as we call it in a vacuum and the motor. There's no black magic here just first-class engineering and first-class supply chain partners.
The finished vacuum pump is a plug-and-play solution that is a perfect example of what happens when we follow Atlas Copco's design principles. It comes on a patented base frame sitting on a wooden pallet making transport very easy. As you would expect of an Atlas Copco product a lot of attention went into every detail of its design.
Let's take a closer look at some of the design elements. The oil separator is positioned on anti-vibration mounts and has an earthing strip. The discharge hose closely resembles the one we use in our compressors. The inlet valve is patented and it also acts as a high integrity non-return valve. There's the inlet filter and inlet pipe. The pipe connections are ring sealed to ensure vacuum integrity.

Remember the revolutionary fan in our GA VSD+ compressor? The one with blades shaped like the wings of an owl. Well, the same fan is in this vacuum pump contributing to its silent operation. The oil cooler is fitted on top and all flexibles put in place. After the oil filter is wound into place the canopy is assembled.
Quality likes company! That's why our new vacuum pumps are assembled right next to the GA compressors. In addition, we built a dedicated test cell designed specifically for vacuum pumps.
