Love your take on these styles. My roommate and I were just discussing our own notes. I like to think of how I would alter the designs. A lot of these styles would look so much better with just a few tweaks. Like the green ruffled dress, I would maintain the structure of the front by keeping the back material along the shoulder blades. And open the rest of the back down to the small of the back between the ruffles. I also don’t like how the bodice flattens her chest so awkwardly. The bodice form needs to match her natural curves better. But I think the overall structure of the ruffles is rather organic while the front shoulder structure looks like armor. I like the combination. Florence’s dress I would have used rhinestones on the skirt in more of a smoky quartz color to match the corset more and used the beading in a design down much further on the skirt. The plaid dress I would have lost the sleeves and opened the back letting the fabric at the neck drape down the back. Billie’s skirt I would have pleated with black lace on the under panels. And her purse needed to be a color pop. I think in all honesty it feels like many designers are running out of ideas. They need to take a few nature walks and go back to analyze some historical designs. Nature has some incredible structures and color combinations. I feel like in some ways they’re trying too hard and in some ways they’re not trying hard enough.
These are definitely great observations. It’s was just a lot of rinse and repeat on the carpet this year. They can definitely do better in terms of vision and construction 👏🏾❤️
@@thesuccesscarter Thank you! I agree. I’ve been seeing more innovative designs from people on Etsy lately. There’s a designer who I saw a while back who uses knots to create structure. Very fantasy Greek inspired. I’ve seen people use 3D printing to make bodices that look like coral. There’s so much more out there to get inspiration.

It is beyond my comprehension how a famous Designer can be given the honor of dressing a gorgeous Celebrity on one of the most Televised nights of the year and find any of these looks even remotely acceptable 😢 It was my birthday today so I allowed myself a little extra drama 🎉😊 Seriously my Dear I did mean what I said. At 64 years young it is shocking that fashion it seems , has been getting worse over the years . I would be dishonest though if I didnt say I am having the best time. Thank you Carter . Billy looked great. She loves not showing her shape because people commented on her giant boobs her whole life. She doesn't like that kind of attention, and it's why we love her. I loved Issa Rae's dress. Michelle Yeoh's was one of the best of the night! I absolutely LOVED Florence's look. Also one of the best.Cynthua Erica looked awesome. Like an epic dragon queen. I thought Andrea's plaid number was also awesome. Man, I loved all the ones you didn't. Erika's was really fun. Sheesh
