    Hey Mike when you're dealing with a ton of different connectors, use different colored zip ties. During reassembly just match the colors together. I'm working in heavy machinery and I do it with hydraulic lines that are all the same size and color. Keep up the good work!

    Cool video... I fixed the front end ov my 2015 VNL670 back in 2016.. regret not taking a single video or photo... did all by myself, had to pull motor and transmission out... only had shop do a frame job... by the way, don’t do the sunroof, they are useless... and crack all the time... I drive Volvo’s since 2010.. never had a use for it... all of them cracked.

    I always enjoyed this sort of work when I was a fitter especially the wiring (or spaghetti). No one else liked it so I always got that work. Happy Dayz! You show the patience needed as there is NO 'quick fix' on these sort of jobs. You just have to know its 'first thing out is last thing back'. You seem pretty organised on that. Big step getting that wiring and dash in and having it weatherproof as everything can now be done whenever and not dependent on weather. We are having some rough storms here in the UK right now so I hope you have more peaceful weather.
    Don't tell 'RustyCracker' how quick you have been doing a Volvo!

    If you could check out the WELT documentary on American Trucks they show the production of trucks from Volvo America. That dash goes in as one piece after the wiring harness are run. Logically one would remove the dash first which is a Complete unit in itself and then remove the harnesses. I see too much of the dash taken apart.

    You guys are awesome!👍love the build and the positive additude...truck is going to look pretty good when together you going to 2 tone it? Not leave it solid white? And will you be putting super singles on the rear since it's a road tractor? Or keep it for Niko brothers car hauling get subbed out from copart and ins auto auction...haul for the ppl that buy repairables or get yourselves a driver and have another business to supplement the body shop.....might be something to look into yes?

    Next time, do yourself a favor : Do not gut the donor vehicle all at once. Especially the complex wiring. Take each part out of the donor truck and reinstall it in the new cab immediately.: no wondering the routing of each bit and pieces.
    I watched "Alex Rebuilds" doing the same swap on a Viper in need of a complete new frame and all. A potential nightmare but he did a great job, transferring bit by bit, wiring, bolts and connectors, suspension, etc one at the time.
    I did it a few times as a non-professionnal DIYer, some years ago on serious sports cars. With great success. Yes, time consuming but garanteed success !

    • @99ramayer
      @99ramayer 4 роки тому

      You do realize that most of the interior and components must be removed first, before any of the wiring can be removed. As for the dash, it is possible to remove the dash and column separately... it's a pain, but possible.

    I would have left the windshield out until the cab was back on the frame, if the cab twists when you are lifting it back into place that will crack that windshield so fast. Not to mention it just makes it easier to work being able to reach through the windshield area, pass parts in an out etc. IMO it was a bad call to install it now.
    SUNROOF, yeah don't really want a sunroof when you are trying to sleep during the daytime

    The rear grab handles are on backwards, and it is painful watching you change the windshield.... 45 min tops with only a hand to hand the glass up to me and pull the cord.
    Plus, fiberglass is not a good product to repair SMC. Panel bond epoxy and work the matting into it completely is best. Even though the resin says SMC compatible.... it isn't. It will fail. Especially if used in a structural area such as the hood.
    ....and automotive paint on a commercial application? Imron is the only way to fly there.car paint will be riddled with rock chips the first trip out.
