Everytime I see someone reviewing, talking about or running Vaesen I get all giddy as I get to see the folktales of my home (Sweden) be highlighted, I especially love one of the mysteries in the book a wicked secret, the one that takes place in a small village called Mölle, the place really exists and is located a 15 minute drive from where I was born, keep up the overall great work man!
I love seeing folks talk about Vaesen -- it's probably one of my favorite RPGs right now. In fact, I've enjoyed the game so much, I created an AP Podcast using the system!
I'm running Silver of the Sea at my local game store for a group of people who have never played Vaesen and they're having a blast (except for the one guy who's actively trying to ruin it). Everybody is absolutely luxuriating in their characters and the mystery is taking way longer than it should because they all want to roleplay to within an inch of their lives.
I doubt it needs to be said, but if you’re looking for more adventures to read, Mothership is currently the place to be. In particular I recommend Gradient Descent…that book genuinely spooked me out a bit while I was reading it.
Thanks you for covering more Vaesen! I first learned about it from your channel and have fallen in love with the vibe and game. I’m going to run some Halloween Vaesen this October!
Yesss! I love Vaesen - I keep hoping to get to be a player in Seasons of Mystery but A Wicked Secret is definitely one of my favorite adventures from them! 💕
I have started running a campaign with my group, and they were just crying after playing silver of the sea. I am very surprised to see it high on your list, because I thought it was probably the less good of the book, and I feel like my players were a bit disappointed with the end (felt like they had no chance, the fight was hard and they were pretty run down for the ending). For the moment, they have played dance of dreams, silver of the sea, and they are in the middle of a mystery I created, then they'll play falling star. I also got the French exclusive book, but I keep it for later. One of them is French and he will be a link to a French campaign. I'm definitely going to buy all the books! Thanks for the video, hope to see another one with custom scenarios!
Awesome to see you cover this! Dont forget! You can get official rules yo play Væsen rules Solo/ co-op too if lacking players/ gms. Spookier too👻Its sad. Not many of my friends play much Væsen or say Dragonbane, even our new Norwegian Dragon Breath. D&D is the culprit, I admit playing dnd now when we FINALLY got a group together. Until they/ we get bored of dnd. I play Free League and Spillforlaget ttrpgs SOLO. Which is just a great! No shame, think of solo trpgs as analogue/ physical versions of doing fantasy crpgs like Baldurs Gate 3 solo😉 Gotta check out your Vagabond, Solo is a BIG selling point for me
I love Vaesen . I run it much more as quirky folklore than horror based in London but I've sent them to Sweeden and Indonesia because why not. I love bringing in real and fictional characters from Ida Lovelace and Elisabeth Barrett Browning to Aleister Crowley who is currently working to unleash The Great God Pan on the world ...
By the way, have you seen the Ukrainian bestiary (Vaesen: Spirits and Monsters of Mythic Ukraine)? It's non-official but very high-quality, and it's free. I'm a big fan. There's also a mystery for Ukrainian society, Under the Forest's Shadow, which is also worth checking out

Just finished Vaesen Con 2024 and super-love this game. This video is a great help because I'm thinking of Dming a group.
Haven't heard about that, thanks, I'll check it out!

@@StephaniePlaysGames oh we definitely need to arrange something then!
Thanks for the warning, but I have made my peace with my Forever GM role.
I loved Seasons of Mystery! I read it, and it's on my shelf, but I haven't had a chance to run Vaesen yet.
