why not give focus to the terrible street conditions first.....the roads are ridiculous.....you can't drive a city block without hitting a pothole while trying to avoid another pothole
Try living in Muncie... The roads we have are only supposed to last for around 20 years tops. meaning that the roads are always a constant upkeep. They can never be truly fixed given the cost of materials that are used for the roads we have. personally, I will take a couple potholes for a beautiful riverfront.
Darklion have you fallen off your rocker!! I grew up in Fort Wayne and can't stand it as an adult... Muncie streets are absolutely not worse. I travel often! Seems Fort Wayne is trying to refuse urban sprawl yet has let infrastructure go to crap! Downtown is definitely looking beautiful but it's Fort Wayne not Indianapolis.. The flats for example let's pay hundreds of thousands to live next to the ghetto... I think not!
So I hear that they want to put a casino on the river? Sounds like a bad idea with addiction and homeless rates going up in Fort Wayne. We don't want a casino. I also hear that they want to move all the homeless shelters down south after we forced them out of their homes when we built the Grand Wayne Center and Parkveiw field. WE CANNOT ignore these problems and while also having a crumbling infrastructure. Indiana has a surplus of money and Fort Wayne specifically is getting grants from the state. Lets clean our rivers, Make/update/renovate housing for lower income and homeless people, have better programs for those with addiction, and lets stop letting our existing structures crumble. This is why people think Fort Wayne is trashy is because we don't take care of the things that we are responsible for as individuals and as a community.
+Kat Orama We're not sure where you heard that from, but no - a casino *IS NOT* in the plans. Several years ago, the idea was first floated around, but was quickly quashed by the community. A casino simply does not fit with our community - and besides, there is no appetite in the legislature to expand gaming via casinos in our state. We're not sure where you heard that, but it's simply not true.
+Kat Orama We'd also encourage you to get involved in the community and stop listening to whoever it is you're listening to. There were no homeless shelters moved as a result of the Grand Wayne Center or Harrison Square - not sure where you heard that. As far as the rest of your comments, get involved and we think you'll learn that many of your statements are simply wrong and the exact opposite of what you're hearing and thinking is the truth.
I live in fort Wayne and love this idea
Indy got some competition with Fort Wayne.
It looks like they used some footage of the rope swing at Stevie's Island.

Perhaps, you should let the public know. Because there are lots of terrible rumors.
