Nugge Soppina thove | Moringa dal | drumstick leaves dal recipe
Very nutritious easy to make dal
Nugge soppu or Moringa or drumstick leaves are very nutritious. Some of the benefits of these leaves are - these are rich in calcium, iron, Vitamin A,- good for eyes, anti toxic, anti diabetic, anti inflammatory and drinking the juice helps in relieving pain, apply the leaves paste over the piles to relieve pain as well.
For pregnant women drumsticks are good not the leaves.
Try this healthy and tasty recipe Moringa dal with rice, roti, and rotti as well.
Ingredients:
1 big bunch nugge soppu / Moringa leaves / drumstick leaves
Or around 2 to 2.5 cups moringa leaves
2 tbsp oil
Pinch of hing
½ tsp mustard seeds
½ tsp jeera cumin seeds
4 to 5 green chillies (finely chopped or slit)
1 small onion (finely chopped)
¼ tsp turmeric powder
¼ tsp pepper powder
3/4 cup split green gram | Moong dal | hesaru bELe
Few curry leaves
3 to 3.5 cups water
1¼ to 1½ tsp salt or salt to taste
For seasoning:
1 tsp ghee / oil
Pinch of hing
¼ tsp mustard seeds
¼ tsp jeera / cumin seeds
1 dried red chilli

The recipe came out well .. only thing was the dal took a very long time to become soft. I waited fpr arpund 20 mins then added moringa leaves and pressure cooked for 1 whistle and then dal came out with correct consistency and tasted good

U could have pressure cooked dal and sauted soppu along with seasoning and mixed both like andhra pappu recipe. This way dal will take lot of time to cook

It took long time to boil the dal 😐
The only feedback I would give is to skip the cumin seeds. When you bite into it, it gives a strong pungent taste which is jarring and undesirable.
that will happen if cumin seeds has not spluttered...make sure ur oil is hot and the jeera will splutter right away and u ll get a beautiful aromatic taste
some people doesn't like the taste and smell of jeera. But it is very good for health. you can add less but it is good to use.
You use onion for every receipe. We are d brahmin we dont likd to use onion
It is her way of doing..You can skip it if you do not like..no one is compelling to use it
