Magnus knows how to play quickly in the beginning. At 6:06 Duda has six seconds on the clock and plays with around that much time for the rest of the game. Carlsen has over a minute of time left, and while he gets down to nineteen seconds there's a difference between a leisurely trek downward and constantly fighting fighting to keep time on the board.

A skewer is technically a fork, but both things attacked are in a straight line. The expensive piece you're attacking has to move out of the way, allowing a less important piece or pawn to drop off. A fork is when you attack two things in two different directions.

Procedurally generated chess pieces, with unique movement patterns and also random board size, may be very fun!
Infinite dimensional chess. Sounds super fun....! I'll see what I can do...!!
Actually, maybe I will do this even if I don't solve the 64 square board. Sounds fun. Parameter limit for board size and piece count can be scaled with player skill, so there would be no upper limit to possible variations in a fair and feasible way. So chess could go on forever!!!!
