I loved that scene from The Holiday when this song was playing and Jude Law sees Cameron Diaz across the bar and he smiles..... ugh 😍 such a good movie
I've just about finished watching The Holiday (I've seen it several times it's one of VERY few rom-coms I like) and I've always loved that part in the movie. this song suited that moment very well 🥰 also. Jude Law in glasses... LAWDY be still my heart lol 😍😳🤒
2 months ago I was sitting in the airport in Chicago. I was at a small cafe having breakfast before my flight. This song came on, and it blew my mind. I had never heard it before. This has been one of my best musical finds this year...the beauty of this song...I wish I could just describe how it makes me feel.
I just heard this song today at th end of a Danny DeVito movie and automatically knew it was Imogene. Her voice is so recognizable because it's so unique.
the melody attracts my soul, embodies my mind, takes me away from the trouble that is reality and takes me to a make belief place of pleasure and visions of a successful me in the future.. even through all the heartache that one must face through this journey we call life... RIP to every good person that has perished.
I might be stating the obvious, but my interpretation of this song is that it's about letting go and no longer trying to repress or hide your emotions. Allowing yourself to feel the pain fully, letting it all out. The line "you bubblewrap when you have no idea what you're like" to me means the person the singer is addressing has a tendency to "bubblewrap" their emotions and conceal them, push them down, and because of that they never truly got to know themselves or what they are really like. "It gains the more it gives, and it rises with the fall" refers to pain/grief. The more you "give in" and allow yourself to feel that pain the greater and more intense it gets, but that same intensity is what allows you to finally heal and move on. Just like a doctor sometimes has to break a bone in order to heal it, sometimes you have to let yourself break down in order to heal emotional wounds. "Hand me that remote, can't you see that all that stuff's a sideshow?" is another way that the person the singer is addressing tends to repress their emotions, by distracting themselves and trying to keep busy. "Such boundless pleasure, we've no time for later baby. You can't await, your own arrival" is the singer's way of saying that pain/grief is something that requires you to acknowledge, you can't await your own arrival. And despite how painful it is to cry and allow yourself to break down, crying also brings catharsis and ironically triggers the brain to release oxytocin and endorphins which are feel-good neurotransmitters that help ease pain. That's why you sometimes feel better after a good cry. Finally the recurring line "there's beauty in the breakdown" is the singer saying that there is a sort of beauty within the raw expression of emotion. Think about how people enjoy watching and reading tragedies, how there is a sort of perverse (not in the sexual way) pleasure seeing your favorite fictional character have a breakdown. Such raw displays often make us uncomfortable, we feel as though we are witnessing something we should not, but because it's all fake it also allows us to sort of vicariously experience in safe way those same emotions and in turn can sometimes provide a sort of catharsis for the audience. One theory about why people enjoy tragedy is because it provides catharsis for our own emotional wounds and scars. Thank you for coming to my TEDTalk 😂
My best friend introduced me to this song 12 Year’s ago. I remember standing there in the airport, waiting for him with song on repeat. This song makes me feel so many different things. I will never stop loving it ❤️
This song makes me me feel like I'm lying in a crowded city street at night with lights and the cars are zooming by, and everything is fast, and I could take my time.
this comment makes me cringe like I'm lying in a crowded UA-cam comment section at night with the words and metaphors zooming by, and for some reason i keep reading but i can stop anytime
The movie : "The Holiday " Brought me here......a cool scene when cameron Diaz decides NOT to leave England and comes back to the pub and surprises Jude Law....awesome Holiday movie
thank you ashley. maybe talk to your parents and your school principal to work on an amended schedule. you can study maybe outside of class, in your own time. at home or at the library... i understand it's hard and i wish you the best and every comfort. xx
So I bought Dodgeball on vhs when it came out. When I played it one of the trailers was “garden state”. I always wanted to see it and years went by and I grew up. This is like 2004. Last week I went thrifting and bought dodgeball and played it. The trailer brought back so many memories good/bad and it made me feel some type of way. I’m 27 now and finally watched “garden star” and of course I had to look up the song Let Go. It’s crazy how music sticks with us forever.
Spent the whole day wondering why I'm so harsh on myself. When other people make a mistake, I lovingly tell them it's okay; when I mess up, I tell myself that I'm a useless traitor. Realized today that that's gotta change. Then I remembered this song from my childhood and put it on. It was like the gentle voice of Frou Frou guided me back to a time when I loved myself, too. There really is beauty in the breakdown
This song makes me feel like breaking down is one of the best emotional releases. Tears of joy or tears of sorrow. There is something very beautiful about raw emotions or being emotionally honest with your lover.
yvetteclaire I just wanted to remind you of your comment 4 years later because I see in your pic you're in a relationship. Unless that's just a friend.. my bad.
I just love this song. Music that sends a positive message. U have to really listen to the lyrics of a song because sometimes the message that the artist is saying isn't always clear at first listen to say an obvious message. That is one of the many things I love about music and add a beautiful rhythm behind beautiful lyrics well I consider it to be a masterpiece. Lyrics are I think more important than the beat behind them. But to some the beat is what draws them to listen to the words. Thank u for reading.
I love this song! I just watched Garden State and I remembered this song and so many others as well and i LOVE the Garden State soundtrack!!! Oh and Great Job With the Lyrics!!! :]
Can’t believe I had let this song slip away from me but it just came back to me at the best time I suppose! So much breaking down in my life, I guess that’s true for most in 2020, but now I’m letting go, I’m finding the beauty, and it really is amazing here.
i love this song, everytime when im down it helps me relax or calm down. i would deticate this song to my grandma nellie A. ramos who died on july 27, 2008 and this month is her bday so happy bday grandma wish you were here R.I.P
I saw and enjoyed it. Natalie Portman is wonderful, no matter what she does...a fine actress...and she is truly a beautiful woman. If this song was in it, I don't remember it, but I'll have to see it again. Have the DVD. And hey...first tune of the day is IMMI.
The two genuinely nicest people and friends I’ve ever met have died horrible deaths from Cancer. One, a week ago and one a couple of years ago. Life sucks. A lot. So I listen to this to try to give me some place to get my bearings.
The first time I heard this song, I loved it, It's is to bad the radio stations don't play good songs like this, Instead I have to hear the same cruuddy songs over and over.
I feel so free when I listen to this song. It reminds me of my old memories. Just running and not caring what happens. Or, swimming until your mind clears. I don't know what it is about this song. It is just a beautiful song. :)

Imogen Heap, a musical genius, exquisite voice, genial stunning voice reflection, meaningful lyrics and beautiful sophisticated music! What more can I say?
@Sexyqueen246 Actually she released imegaphone in 1998 as imogen heap. Her and Guy Sigworth fromed Frou Frou in early 2000s after working together on her first solo album together. Then she went back to solo. Regardless we all agree---WE LOVE HER
This song makes me feel like I'm leading my life holding on to everything, and after several years of doing so, a close friend tells me to leave it all behind and to go with her, wherever she may go.. Cause life is too short to stay in a comfort zone.
I loved that scene from The Holiday when this song was playing and Jude Law sees Cameron Diaz across the bar and he smiles..... ugh 😍 such a good movie

*Garden State* most underrated movie in a long long time....
