      They aren’t quite same since Steve Sabol passed. The story telling was top notch in these.

    Awesome to re-live these Bills moments in history in the Heyday back then comparing it to the Heyday of today. Feels really good to be a Bills fan right now.

    The Bills of the late 80s and early 90s were so fun to watch. I know they didnt win a Super Bowl but 4 straight Super Bowls is a feat no team will ever do.

      They went to the Super Bowl through my college years. Watching them every Sunday got me through the week. The players felt like family.

    A great year for the Bills and the "Springboard" Season that set them up for their Super Bowl Run the following season.

    I think they were the best team in the AFC in 1989. I know they were only 9-7. It’s a young team coming off a breakout season; they have a few more injuries than they did in 1988, there were growing pains and bickering amongst teammates. It was transitioning between being a primarily defensive team that it was in 1988 and becoming Jim Kelly’s team in 1990. Should have won 11 or 12 games in 1989, should’ve been a SB team. If Ronnie Harmon catches that ball and they beat Cleveland guaranteed they beat Denver for the AFC title. Maybe the Bills don’t beat the niners but it’s a far closer game than 55-10. The next year they have this 21 point comeback in 78 seconds vs Denver then they’re on their way to the SB. They hire Ted Marchiabroda to run a no huddle offense. The rest is history

      It’s unlikely that Buffalo team goes into Denver and wins the AFC Championship Game.

    The 37-0 rout of the Jets in the last week of this season was the biggest "quit" job I ever saw by a team, talking about the Jets. I mean they didn't even pretend they cared. Missed tackles, dropped passes. Not to mention there was about 50,000 empty seats at the Meadowlands that day.

      I'm a New York Jets fan & I agree with you. I shouted, "JOE MUST GO". Joe Walton was fired a few days later along with the entire coaching staff and a few front office people by new general manager Dick Steinberg. Attendance that day was 21,148.

      I wasn't even born, but as a guy who likes both the Giants and Jets equally, it was depressing for me to read about (Jets used to practice at Hofstra back then, 15 minutes from my house, they were more local than the Giants). The Jets had their lone field goal attempt blocked, and after the game, Walton had toilet paper rolls and other garbage thrown at him by all 7 Jets fans in the stands. Interestingly, the next day, the Giants clinched the division by doubling up the Raiders 34-17. In 1990, the Giants-Jets rivalry kinda went on hiatus because of their polar-opposite 1989 seasons; the Giants won Super Bowl XXV and the Jets ushered in the new decade by blowing up their team and starting from scratch.

      Ironically Rich Kotite was on that coaching staff. That was not even rock bottom that was an ugly foreshadow for things to come 7 years later was even worse when the Jets went 1-15.

      Orchard Park was the one place marino could never win at. Dan went 19 straight games (759 straight pass attempts) without being sacked. Guess where that streak ended?

    Funny how after the playoff loss 2 different paths are taken. In losing the bills find out hey what if we run this no huddle stuff from the start equals 4 afc titles in a row.The browns however get beatdown by denver not even close this time no heartbreak then 3-13 bellichek era starts only 1 playoff win after that win vs the bills .

    Hmm, 1988 the Bills make the AFC title game and get drilled. In 1989, they avenge the title game loss, take a step back, beat the Jets in the final week of the season to win the division, go one and done in the playoffs. Why does this feel so familiar?

    • @scottfarmer8758

      Flip Johnson wore #80 that season. After he was released in the off season James Lofton switched his jersey to #80.

    • @hezamachine
      @hezamachine Рік тому +1

      Lofton came in about a month into the season. If Chris Burkett hadn't walked out of a meeting and quit the team, James Lofton would have never been a Buffalo Bill.

      Harmon has stated that he has remained incredibly bitter about how the Buffalo Bills organization and especially Marv Levy treated him after this dropped pass--essentially he was told that there was no way he would return in 1990
