Pakistan really has lots of potential. It's population is nearly equal to that of USA and land area is also decent enough. It has got a decent shoreline and is at a strategically well placed, also It can easily access oil through pipeline from central Asia. India has a large population and is diverse as fuck. Any sort of development project here will take a long time to come to fruition because of so many barriers including cultural, social and linguistic barriers. Also, over a millenia of being slaved and oppressed by the Muslims and the British will take its toll on any country. India is a victim of corruption and caste and religion based politics. Parties use divisive tactics to secure their vote banks in elections and this leads to things such as reservations(cultural appropriation on steroids), minority appeasement policies and communal tensions. India is not even a country if you ask me, it is a continent of many countries which are different from one another in terms of the food, the culture, the spoken language etc. Developing a continent will obviously take a long time. In fact, I don't think India will ever be developed simply because there's too much diversity. The word "development" has a different connotation for different groups of people. There is no "One Size Fits All" thing here like most other countries. While implementing any kind of policy, the government has to deal with opposition from other parties, corruption in the bureaucracy, and has to think about how it would affect thousands of different groups of people. It simply takes too much time. Tldr: Diversity sucks.

The fact that South Korea has a population of 50 million but has both, a very high GDP and GDP per capita means how much they have advanced and grown out of others. It is also very scary to imagine what would happen if the North and South reunify under South Korean government. North has very cheap labor force, and natural resources which the South needs (rare earth metals), and the South has advanced tech and highly educated people. It is, very very scary.

The more surprising reason for Korea is that it passed the IMF in 1997 after a year. It's great that we grew up in the poorest countries. Korea is really great. Look at South Korea's GDP per capita it is still almost 10-15x of the GDP per capita of other countries in this comparison and South Korea has a GDP of 1.8 Trillion while having 50 Million citizens while India has 2.5 Trillion with 1 billion citizens. Also South Korea's exports are crazy, they are 5th in the world in exports. Both South Korea and India have militaries in the top 10 list. India has a large population and is diverse as fuck. Any sort of development project here will take a long time to come to fruition because of so many barriers including cultural, social and linguistic barriers. Also, over a millenia of being slaved and oppressed by the Muslims and the British will take its toll on any country. India is a victim of corruption and caste and religion based politics. Parties use divisive tactics to secure their vote banks in elections and this leads to things such as reservations(cultural appropriation on steroids), minority appeasement policies and communal tensions.
India is not even a country if you ask me, it is a continent of many countries which are different from one another in terms of the food, the culture, the spoken language etc. Developing a continent will obviously take a long time. In fact, I don't think India will ever be developed simply because there's too much diversity. The word "development" has a different connotation for different groups of people. There is no "One Size Fits All" thing here like most other countries.
While implementing any kind of policy, the government has to deal with opposition from other parties, corruption in the bureaucracy, and has to think about how it would affect thousands of different groups of people. It simply takes too much time.
Tldr: Diversity sucks.

I was reading about Miracle on Han river and I personally believe growth model of South Korea can be implicated in North India.
Note: north India not whole India.

Thanks for nice words. yes there are several reasons for the Miracle of Han River after Korea War (1950-1953), the entire country was devastated by war. and 70% of whole Korean territories are Mountain areas. no any natural resources. we have only manpower. first, invest huge money (24% of whole Korean GDP after war, since 1954, Elementary school education is compulsory. now, until high school, all free) South Korea has the most lowest illiteracy rate in the world. less than 1%.
Second, in 1960s, Korea has moved from an agrarian-based to a manufacturing-based with heavy chemical industry, and social infra. command and control economy by government. we benchmark many successful case of leading overseas countries - Japan, US, South Germany (at that time) and so on. brought foreign aid and loan as well. in 1960s and 1970s, how many Koreans had to work abroad, as a miner, a Nurse (in South Germany) a construction worker in Middle Eastern.
To the end, I have to say this. there is a strong tie between Korean community by old history. we are surrounded by big and strong countries - China, Russia, Japan. (now, across the sea, US) during 5000 years, around 2000 times invaded by another countries. there are good and bad sides on strong sense of solidarity though, to improve the nation, have an advantage.
