Probably some of the most beautiful snare drum playing I've heard in a while and excellent composition. I absolutely love how light your touch is. Wonderful playing and piece.
Hello, this is a Majestic maple Prophonic. I love it! The snares on this one are: snappy wire, nylon, coated wire, and the big beads (though I think the beads are disengaged on this recording). Enjoy, I hope you can get your hands on one.
All of your snare drumming, and other percussioning, is beyond fantastic. You deserve to be playing on a vintage snare with calf heads, & various snares ; gut cable, not just wire . Thank You!!! PROFESSOR SWING
Hi Fely, this is the 14 x 5 maple. Love it! The head is rather tight and I tend to like a bright sounding drum, but you could easily make it much darker with oak or maple. Thanks
It's a musical piece and just like a top 40 song parts would repeat. (A standard song would have a verse followed by another, the lyric would differ but the chords would likely be the same, then a chorous and in some cases the entire thing would repeat) If we were to look at the music in front of the snare we'd see repeat markings.
hey Kenny, if i may .....a lifetime of study would be a good start...if you pull this piece apart...so many ideas here are presented on so many techniques....youd have to readdress the foundation and build.....long , short rolls, rudimental studies and accenting, rhythm and ear training for time and meter changes, studies on song form and composition and melody , hand coordination and folkloric percussion techniques, tuning approaches, marching technique.....mallet approaches .....that's just a few.......roll it up with hard work over a prolonged period and youd have something.. ....and dont forget to tell a story with your hands...its FUN and communicates directly to people.
Ok, so I'm a proud mom...my son, Carson Vanduch, performed this yesterday at his junior recital at South Dakota State University. facebook.com/ginger.thomson.127/videos/10156162324059852/ I believe Meditation No. 1 begins at 17:06.
What do you usually tune the interval between the res head and the batter head to , im having trouble finding a really nice tone that can be used for everything.
Listening to the overtones as he plays rim shots, he has the snare-side head tuned a 5th higher than the batter head--seems like C# top head, G#. Correct me if I'm wrong
holy god this playing is beautiful, i've never seen anyone play snare with this much relaxation

Thank you, Nick!
This becomes more musical every time i watch it, you truly know how to make the snare drum sound like a musical instrument
My mind has just been blown in several different ways

Hey Casey, I’m working on this piece now. Any tips on achieving that super crisp finger flick roll that first comes up in segment B? Thanks!

Do u have sheet music for this
The rim is tuned !
Hi.Cangelosi
How do you sound so loud with your finger or hand?
finger pressure with your thumb !
random question: are you using Neil Peart's sticks?
It wouldn't matter, you could probably play this with toothpicks
And all that from 1 page of music sheet.
Sticks?
Any recommendations or tips to playing this???

Sarebbe stato bello mettere 2 microfoni per dare un effetto stereo, anzichè un panoramico. Però bello lo stesso...By Sergio
Man 太棒了
Lot of paradiddles? Whatever...neat thought up of creative snare drum work.
Is anybody but Casey good enough to do this?
