@@missgmoma it is sad 🥺 what's sadder kids know nothing about real quality or good things look their music and wrestling today nothing compared to what we had.
Whodini was ahead of their time, from Brooklyn, but recorded most of their music in London!!! Jermaine Dupri is in this video, the kid in the Jheri Curl dancing
@@juliemcdaniel499 Because British producer, Thomas Dolby and German producer, Conny Plank co-produced their beginning albums along with American Larry Smith who produced alot of RUN-DMC's music. They were also signed to Jive Records, which was based in London. People do not realize Whodini were just as popular in Europe, as they were in New York!
Whodini was so popular, they were one of the first rap groups to reach rural white America. I loved Whodini. I played this tape (yes, cassette) so much, it wouldn't play anymore. Thanks for the stroll down memory lane.
Man, I don't know who y'all been talking to, but y'all have been jammin all month !! I aint mad at it. Keep the old school coming. Bring back the real music.

Did not know there was a connection to Roxanne Roxanne! And Roxanne (The Real Roxanne? Am I confused?) had that song where she sang back and told the other singer why she wouldn't sleep with him. The only line I remember is "Me? The Rox? Give up the box? So you can brag about it for the next six blocks?" Tim would love that one, maybe both songs together. It's a good story! I put them right there with RUN DMC as a Legendary Group. Five Minutes of Funk is still my favorite joint. Glad my parents put me on to them, I was born in 1993. RIH to Ecstasy
Yes! This and Friends were their big hits for early hip-hop heads. Synthesizers and scratching were the new sounds of the '80s! Whodini were freaks before their time! Fantastic! Cameo was another freaky funky band of the time. Have you done Cameo?
Not sure if anybody made the comment but that little kid at 3:17 is Jermaine Dupri. There's a funny story about the lead singer/Rapper named "Ecstasy" (the one with the hat and "short shorts" {LOL} ). After the group lost their popularity and succumbed to Gangsta Rap, Ecstasy actually had no money and became an ambulance driver. He said there was one incident where he was rushing some dude to the hospital and the injured dude who was half dying, noticed Ecstasy him driving, raised up and said "Hey ain't you the dude from Whoudini? "

Twins, Whodini was probably my favorite rap group ever. They were very early in Rap...post Sugarhill, Kurtis Blow, Casanova Fly but their hit in 1983 "Magic's Wand" was the song that bridged rap from "Rapper's Delight", "The Breaks" and "The Message" to the Run DMC/LL Cool J so they were extremely important in the history of the music.
