If you are a high-myopic patient that wears eyeglasses 100% of the time and you're getting a monofocal distance correction, keep ready a +1.00 or +1.25 reading glass if you want to be able to see your countertops/stovetop while waiting to fix the second eye. Keeping ready a +2.00 or +2.50 reading glass for reading is also not a bad idea. My doc told me I could pop out the right lens of my progressive and go like that for a week, but it totally does not work if the myopia is very high.
You were doing great until charging 💴 for less than72 hours cancellation. I have never been late or missed an appointment, but life happens and at times less than the 72 hours. Too bad money gets in the way of what was a great UA-cam medical explanation. Really disappointed!

Although lens replacement surgery in most cases restores vision completely, there is still one negative consequence. A large number of patients develop secondary cataracts over time: from 30-50% of those operated on. CONCLUSION: even if you implant the most expensive or the most technologically advanced lens FOR 30-50% of patients you will need to make a HOLE so that LIGHT reaches the retina, isn’t it easier to just insert a “GOOD” MONOFOCAL HYDROPHOBIC LENS...... Why then do eye surgeons in mainly ADVERTISING various ARTIFICIAL CRYSTALS??? Answer: 1) campaigning to acquire patients, AND IN THE RESULT MONEY 2) Companies that produce not only lenses, but also related devices and materials, THAT IS, THE ENTIRE INDUSTRY AROUND THE EYES is initially interested in ADVERTISING their products. (but this is not advertising around cars or sneakers, etc., BUT THESE ARE EYES...)
Dr Wong, these are great videos. I developed presbyopia at 40, I am now 50 and its really bad. I am also losing my distance vision, but so far I am able to just use +1.50 readers for distance and it seems to correct it, and +2.50 with astigmatism correction for computer use. I hate both. Seems my vision is still getting worse, and going from perfect vision to having to change glasses, and sometimes not needing distance glasses depending on the day is frustrating. Anyway, my optometrist mentioned premium lens replacement which I did not even know it was a thing, and that is what led me to your channel. My question is, can I get a multifocal in just one eye and leave the other one alone? My presbyopia is worse in my left so that is the one I was thinking of getting done. This whole thing is terrifying. My parents and my sister all had successful cataract surgeries so I assume this is a very similar procedure based on your videos.

I’m told I’m developing cataracts and surgery to replace the lens would be a great option. Good morning sir I have iridofundal coloboma ... I had cataract surgery 3 month before after the surgery I m experiencing positive dysphotosia (glare,big-big halos,star bust , lightning streaks) and negative dysphotosia (dark crecent shadow on my left side) and dilopia(double text vission) and also had PVD (unignoreable giant floater that can be seen in dim light .... And causing dynamic glare fluctuations..... I am truly depressed I only have this eye with vission other eye don't have vission..... Pls help me sir .... I know the only solution for this problems is IOL exchange along with Floater vitrectomy.... I m not able to my simple day to day work from this problems... I m very cleaver and excellent in acedemics sir .. I was persuing my engineering in CS branch from IIT Madras ... Pls help me to grow and fly again like before .... My only hope for my life is you Coz I know the professionalism is in you is never on other surgeon Pls help me sir pls I am from INDIA and belongs from a lower middle class family I am facing this torture since 3 month sir Plzz reply sir PlZ reply

What kind of IOL are you planning on getting? Single Vision, Extended Focus, or Multifocal? Will you be getting any of these with an astigmatism correction?
@@rogerrussell7984 Symfony is an Extended Focus lens. If a correction for astigmatism is included in your IOL, and the vision is not optimal due to unintended rotation of the lens after it is implanted, then usually adjustments in the rotational position of the IOL can be made. Beyond that, I would ask your Dr.
Solutions to improve vision after cataract or lens replacement surgery include: 1) glasses, 2) contact lenses, 3) LASIK/PRK corneal surery, 4) astigmatic incisional surgery, 5) intraocular lens exchange. The solution is very individualized.
@@ShannonWongMD if a patient opts for the Vivity because they do not want the risk of halos and glare, could they then get lasik to achieve optimal near vision? Therefore resulting in being specticle free.

I didn't take the valium before my cataract surgery, I refused it, because, to my opinion it is not necessary, I was completely calmed and relaxed before and during the operation
I would check with your eye doctor. Aspirin and Advil are blood thinners and it is usually not good to take those before any kind of surgery. However, if you take a low dose aspirin for heart problems, then let your doctor know about it.

Can cataract surgery be performed on an eye that has uveitis
In general, uveitis should be controlled before cataract surgery.

Clareon is new and different material. Not Acrysoft. I think this would be good product but need time for studying and some statistic analysis.

What about someone taking Aspirin? is okay to take it prior to cataract surgery
