    Thanks Huy, love the video and super useful!, loads of good advice!!! I think a better comparison would be against a 16mm or 18mm (full-frame) as I think most real estate professionals watching this would already have glass in that range and be considering to go wider to the Laowa 12mm etc

I have a questions though, I am using the RS3 gimbal as well but I seem to get alot of wobble in the side of the vide especially when going through doorways - basically moving forward. When you do these reveal shots do you use joystick on your gimbal or do you twist the gimbal grip? I can't get them to look this smooth, there's always some jaggy footage.

    • @HuyRebel
      @HuyRebel  6 місяців тому

      What gimbal do you use? I never use the joysticks, its a combination of turning the wrist and body while moving forward

    • @photograhy
      @photograhy 6 місяців тому

      @@HuyRebel I am using dji ronin RS3 not the pro version. I tried playing with the settings like motor strength etc but nothing worked, there's always this sharp turn every time I do reveal or panning shots. First panning starts smooth and then in the middle of a pan gimbal just jags all of a sudden, and then continues being smooth. It happens even when I do it with joystick, while it's placed on a firm surface like a table. I turned the joystick speed all the way down and it looks perfectly smooth, and then all of a sudden it jags in the middle.
      It's driving me crazy, I am thinking my gimbal arrived with a defect. Camera is perfectly balanced, and I mean perfectly, and this issue is visible with a laowa lens the most because it's so light I guess.

    • @JeepTJWheelin

      The Laowa 9mm f2.8 lens is the best lens available for the aps-c. With the crop factor it's 13.5mm full frame equivalent. Plenty wide enough for shooting real estate. This lens is why I and most with this set up will never have to buy a full frame camera and lens, totally unnecessary. I will eventually get a better Canon body, one that performs better in low light with the bigger sensor though.

      that depands. the faster FPS, the lower quality you get, like I said, on movies, you "need" 24 , to g make som distance, with the speed of shutter, meaning you dont ! want realistic. ANd you will be forced to open lense more, at 50 .

      @@HuyRebel well, I live in NOrway, Europa. I shoot in NTSC, so that I get 23.975 . I shoot a movie int that. you want to go for 24 , not 25, even small differance. "you want to make the room and the house appear larger than it is." This is not only dishonest, but also incorrect, and I can explain why with a very good reason. You have to remember Huy that your video will be accompanied by many photos of the house for sale. The majority of these photos will be very wide angle photos and showing the house very wide to get every detail, and to make the home seem larger. Your video is not supposed to show what the photos show, but in a video. The whole point of a video is to build some emotion for the buyer and get them very interested in the house. You accomplish this with good music and beautiful shots. And the way to make the shots have the most emotion and beauty is not to have them be stretched out really wide. No, they must be more immersive and make the buyer feel like they can imagine themselves in the home. This is never ever accomplished with a 12mm lens. It is too wide, it doesn't look natural to the human eye/brain, and it certainly does not make the buyer feel immersed in the home.
    You say the lens has no distortion but it absolutely does have distortion. It make the room look bigger than it is, you admit that. So that is accomplished by distorting the image. The lines are vertical at the edges but the image is still squeezed to the left and right to make it wider than it actually is.
    You are right that a 24mm is not wide enough a lot of the time. That is definitely true, but 12mm is way too wide and only serves to mimic the photos of the house.

    • @HuyRebel
      @HuyRebel  Рік тому +2

      Thanks for your input. I did say you want the room appear larger than it is, but that is mostly on smaller homes where you need a superwide lens for the rooms to not feel cramped. I did mention in the comment somewhere below that the 16mm is more than wide enough for this home.
      When i say no distortion, im talking about optical distortion, not perspective distortion which you'll naturally get. The image will be squeezed to the left and right anyways on a lens that wide, but atleast the verticals are pretty much straight since this lens is "zero-d".
      Great thing about this lens is that you can always crop in if its too wide wthout loosing quality since im shooting 4k.
      I agree that video is less about information, but rather the emotion you try to evoke
