South of Heaven - Acoustic Slayer Cover

Re-up from 2017.
When I started doing these acoustic covers in August 2016 I originally thought I'd stay away from the obvious, big songs. Well, this is probably the biggest Slayer song ever, or at least it's in the All Time Top 3, but I think I managed to turn it into something very different. It's kind of like a cross between the original and Dream On by Depeche Mode, or at least that was the general idea at the time.
I figured it would be more polarizing than it turned out to be.

Thanks for listening! Yes, some of the vocal phrasing is deliberately Tobias-esque (like the word "eternity" in the last verse). But mostly I was trying to do it like the Depeche Mode song Dream On from 2001 :)

I love how you did this. Like ghost, you take music with extremely dark, brutal themes, and sing them as if they were sung in a Sunday school, for the damned. I love the atmosphere you created. Haunting, beyond desperate, but more like you have accepted your fate. If you were to be a narrator, I'd picture a soul/spirit, stuck on this earthly plain. Sorrowfully lamenting about the futility of existence to anyone who might hear your lamenting howls in the wind, in a nuclear winter hellscape, echoing through leafless trees and the bare skeleton shells of humanities crumbling creations.
