Sticking to the original source and putting a little bit of your own taste is a recipe for respect and a good singer and the fact that your voice is so smooth makes it nice to listen to. This is also my preference on Pop jazz so great job NE-YO, this is one of the best covers I've heard so far along with Annapanstu's version and Elsie Lovelock's cover on 'Be Our Guest' from Beauty and The Beast.
