  • Sorry for the poor quality I originally recorded this for my reference in the parking lot where it died. Later I decided to post this here and follow up later once the dealership finds the problem and we have it repaired as I have read others have also had this issue. I tried resetting it and disconnecting the battery for about 10 minutes but it did not help and we are having it towed to a dealership for diagnosis and repair.
    It appears they replaced an Engine Control Module (part #12692865) that was $253.77 with core and it appears a $25 core charge as part of the repair. Also, there was a recall that they replaced a Hybrid Powertrain Control Module (part #9104230). Luckily she bought an extended warranty from the dealer, which she bought used from a lease return, which paid for everything.
    Here is a copy of our invoice that lists the part that failed:

      I am glad to hear it helped. I originally made the video for just my records but thought I would share it in case it helped others. We still have the Volt and never had the issue come back or any other problem since. It's been a very reliable car for us.

    So what did you end up doing to correct the problem? All I heard was "Brake on, Power Button, Still nothing" and the same swirling screen saying Initializing-wait to shift. How did you resolve the issue?
    UPDATE: I should have read through the thread as the answer is posted there. I will post what I end up doing to fix mine once I get to it. Hopefully before I leave on vacation.

    When that happens to me I remove the battery from the remote, I open the hood and I wait for some minutes. When I turn on the car the engine starts and that's a good sign. My car FW was updated in 2019 losing 15% of usable battery. They also rewired something with the coolant tank and the new update is less stricted for sensor anomalities. Mt 12v battery was replaced after 6 years when the system was getting errors too often.

      We replaced the battery as well but this was a bad module and disconnecting the battery and "cold-booting" the car didn't change anything. I agree though with some these more technology-based cars that a reboot can sometimes get you home. I wad a 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee that would do crazy things if the voltage was to low or a bad ground.

    Car is in Service Mode and Ready is not displayed in lower left corner of display. Push button once without brake depressed. Wait for interior light to go out then open drivers door for over one minute close and restart normally. Almost towed to dealer before I found this solution after replacing 12v battery.

    I just had the same problem. Fearing the worst but hoping for the best, I first started with disconnecting the 12V battery for a minute and connecting again. It appeared to have worked so far. We'll see if it lasts. For reference, the 12V was replaced approx 1 year ago so it relatively new - so I would say my issue is not with the 12V battery.

    I seen your invoice and had the same recall done and got my car back running. 207 miles later same issue has arrised. Your car still good?

    • @quadpit
      @quadpit  3 роки тому

      No issues and has not needed any servicing since that time other than oil changes and new tires. Ours wasn't a recall though as she bought an extended warranty that covered the repair otherwise we would've had to pay it.
