    I'm not profesional but I have a few years of practice in my bag. In my experience, I can enter the straps before planing only when the wind is strong and the sail is larger than needed or when the board is at least 50 lts more than my weight. In both cases, once planing, it's not really fun.

      That happens to me too, when I forget to put the weight on the ball of my feet, instead of my heels.

    Hi Dario,
    I’m about to buy a new board (106 JP AllRide 2018, 63cm wide), but I’m a bit concerned about how early I ll be able to plane on it. I was able to get my old 135 Tabou Rocket 72cm to plane in 11knots, do you think this thinner board will require a lot more wind? I’m only 70kg by the way.
    Thanks

    • @STAR-FISH_INTERNATIONAL
      @STAR-FISH_INTERNATIONAL  4 роки тому +2

      Hi Pavel... for that board.. you can use size sail 6.0 meters... with your weight, and if you have good tecnique, you can plane with 15 knots good. I have 72 kilos, and i usualy use 90 lts freestyle board with 5.4, and with 16-17 knots i can plane.

    I accidentally learned to plane on a board with a centreboard when I just started surfing. I'm a pretty small girl and at first I didn't even realise what was happening, i just thought I was going really fast😂

    • @adrs2
      @adrs2 2 роки тому +1

      I did the same I just wanted to go faster. The centerboard closed and it started to plane. Instructor asked me why am I playing with beginner boards and where is my harness. And it all started...

    you put your foot in the footstraps before planning, for me it's impossible on a small board (less than 110l and 70 wide) unless you're really very light, me if the wind is strong i go down wind, i pump, I go back and I put the front straps then the rear straps
    if the wind is more light, I recede more gradually, it is only on really wide boards that we can put the straps without being really planning

      Hello, thank you very much for participating, the tutorial gives tools so that everyone can use them to be able to achieve the planning, obviously that the weight of each person influences a lot. I weigh 72 kilos, let's say I am an intermediate weight. The technique for someone who has physical conditions similar to mine would be the following. But I love that you share yours, if you want to give me more details and I see some stings so you can accelerate that. Thanks again for participating

      @@STAR-FISH_INTERNATIONAL this just won't work on our lakes in Zeeland (South Netherlands). The wind is much too gusty to be able to put your feet immediately in the footstraps before getting planing. Moreover, on my free race/slalom boards, the straps are really off center, close to the rails of the board. The only technique which works well, is the classic one - one or two small pumps, commit to the harness, push the board off wind, engage the front strap, take some speed and step into the aft strap. All the while not weighing your heels.

      In principle with a good technique, you could plan with that wing, you can try to tune it if you see that you are too over the limit, leaving it more baggy, the wing can generate more thrust. Also if you are too over the limit, you can move the foot of the mast a little closer to the tail so that the sail has more leverage. Hope that can help you. Anyone you can write us

    I bear off say 5 degrees off the wind simultaniously keep the board flat and sheet in the sail …there you have the wanted speed and then with the same speed you bear upwind into the heading you started with (no whatsoever hectic pumping needed) GUARANTEED

      Hi Nage, with your weight, you will plan easily, but with 25 knots, I think you will be with a lot of power for that equipment, possibly a smaller board and sail would be more suitable for your weight with that wind.
