@David Liu I didn’t know it wasn’t available right now. That’s a great goal for the new year. I went hot tent camping last night on 1/1 and last year on 1/1 so it may become a tradition lol. Would it be your first time hot tenting? Thanks for watching
Congratulations on the sub boost over the year . Looks like you got just enough of the white stuff to make it nasty . Hope you and your family have a great new year
Ok I got the chalet 70 and it shipped 5 days early. (I commented on the last video about this). I set it up and the seam tape is also on the top. Wondering if you’d be interested in a trade for your stove hut tent 😂😂 I was dying to get my hands on one but by the time I got paid the wait was 40 days.
@Jeremiah Pursch what part of the world are you from? Someone mentioned the seam tape being that way to stop the water from soaking up through which could be why, I’m not sure. Makes sense I guess. As far as trading for another chalet, I’m not sure lol. Thanks for watching
@@AdventureswithSpackmann yea that does make sense it being on the inside. I’m waiting for this stove hut 70 lol thought I’d shoot my shot. And I’m from California over here.
After spending a night in this tent, the word of the day is condensation. I have mixed feelings about it. It is small, you will get dirty crawling in it. A mini stove will cook you out of it. Being small, it is nice to reach over and light the stove from your sleeping bag though, and make coffee. Not sure if the stove made the condensation worse or what, but I felt it drip on me in the middle of the night. I let the stove go out, I didn’t run it all night,,,
@coyotesnipe yeah I thought condensation would be an issue in there being so small. That is cool. Laying in bed making coffee. Sounds like a blast. Thanks for watching
Lol i just camped in this tent, but my floor is sewn into the tent on mine with 2 zip windows on both sides and a section that has a built in fireproof mat sewn in for the the wood stove, for 12 days straight 6 days of heavy rain 🌧 and thunderstorms on the Appalachian trail in Pennsylvania here , didn't leak one time for us . What version of the tent do you have? This is the same tent but not anything like ours .
@Neal Robinson personally if I were going hot tenting for the first time I would want a larger tent. If I had to pick one or the other, I guess as an all around tent the StoveHut has more options and is bigger. It has the awning and stove vestibule. If you don’t mind a small tent and having to seal it before using it then I would pick the Hut. Thanks for watching.
@@AdventureswithSpackmann so go bigger! What would you recommend as a 1st tent? I'm going cheap on the the stove and doubling the chimney through the jack like I've seen you do. I love your advice! Keep up the great work!
@@nealrobinson3936 thank you so much. The stove jack sleeve is a great addition. Adds structure to the pipe from the tent(tent holds the pipe better if the hole in the stove jack is bigger than pipe) and protects the tent from heat. My favorite hot tent is my 3F UL tribal teepee hot tent. It’s been great to me so far. It’s just over $200. It’s got a ton of room. If you don’t want to spend that much money or want that much room. The cheapest hot tent from Amazon video(on my channel) shows how well that tent holds up. It fits a chair, cot and stove. It’s only 5 feet tall though. I’ve heard great things about the Octopeak and my buddy Justin from It’s Good in the Woods has several videos on it, good reviews.
Great for a quick trip grand and go for but not for a durable long trip. Shame it wasn't taller and wider would've made all the difference minus the seams having issues.
Hmmm that’s tough. I usually go floorless and tend to use the Pomoly LoneWolf Hammovk hot tent. It’s rather small when you close the ends in but enough room for one. I also use the OneTigris Tigaman tent which is big for one person but I like that. Tigaman has a condensation issue though if not vented enough. The Pomoly tent is canvas so it’s great all around. But I’ve been using an instant AFrame from Walmart that I added a stove jack to. That’s my favorite. Has a floor too. Thanks for watching.
Another cool video man. Is the stove hut video coming up testing a repair or did they send a new one out? I bet the repair for both tents will be similar
@Danny Bockius they did send a new one so testing that one will come first. I was also told that version 3 is coming to me as well for testing. Version 2 is what showed up with the chalet. I’m going to wait a fix Version 1 and the Chalet at the same time I think. Sorry I know you’re waiting to see that lol. I’m afraid you need to wait longer. Sorry bro. Thanks for watching
Least seems like they trying to make a good version every company has to start and grow some where. Least working with people means lot to me when look at gear and companies.
@Dotty McCarren I feel the same way. They are adapting to new product problems and addressing them. I just feel like more testing needs to be done before releasing them.
@@AdventureswithSpackmann agree wish could test for them would be fun. Most my gear testing with hunting related stuff. Have 100 acre family property to play on plus all adventures I do be fun trying out camp gear
ya. i think the seam tape should be inside whether it's up or down. on my regular 3 season tent i always put the optional footprint seam tape up so as to not get the dirt stuck in the seam tape.
@@AdventureswithSpackmann I used some Nikwax tent wax spray, but I'll go ahead and order some sealant too just in case. Thanks for replying so quick! :)
Terrific review Spac, as always. But I have to say, this is the dumbest design for a winter hot tent in the history of tents, bar none. Nothing about that horrible design is appealing. Pomoly, get your shyte together. Btw I'm Canadian and wouldn't lie to you..lol. NOTE: I own their Pomoly Hex hot tent and love it, it's bomb proof!
@Over50 Adventures lol well it must be true if you’re Canadian lol. Thank you for liking the review! I’m not a fan of a few things with this tent. But maybe someone else will. Lol. Thanks for watching
I agree 14 is a LOT and its still kind of saggy! Did yuo forget your mic? I can barely hear you. I dont think theres enough room to rollover on a cot let alone set up on one unless you have it under the ridge, this would be a 10/10 fail for me.. hard to set up with way to many stakes and very little room, and that entrance?.... NO WAY.. I could do as well with my 8x10 tarps and a ridge line for way less money
@Doc Ink I don’t forget the mic but I tried to balance the sound altogether with the clips with the water running and me just talking. It was either toooooo loud or too quiet. Sorry. It did look saggy but it seemed taught to me. Probably better drier with a tarp lol. Thanks for watching
Doesn’t seem like it sets up tight if water pools anywhere will seep thru not saying whole problem but if seams that bad think will wait till these been out awhile and problems fixed. Better quality control love the concept of these tents though. Just ordered woods walker titanium stove for fire hiking hot tent 😜
@Dotty McCarren right! Now on to the WoodsWalker…. Did you get the original one or the new one with the oven? I have to say the new oven version looks sweet! Hope it serves you well in your adventures. Thanks for watching
Got the one with side rack and rock rack thing by stove pipe. For price was one best caught my eye. Eventually try a pomoly stove after recover from emergency vet bills from my dog who got sick better now
@Dotty McCarren yeah that’s a cool stove. I like the wood rack idea it has. It should serve you well and I hope it does. Doesn’t matter what you get as long as you get out and enjoy it!
@@AdventureswithSpackmann basically what i was thinking for the money look decent. Trying to see if the pipe adapter pomoly sells would upgrade the one thing don’t like about the woods walker is pipe adapter. But will work if can modify it safely will do
@MountainSport Airguns lmao is that you from Facebook? If so I told you once I get a flame retardant tent, the flamethrower will come out lol. If it’s not you then it’s a very small world and I’ll if I get a flame retardant tent I’ll bring out the flame thrower lol. Thanks for watching
I’m a long time backpacker and have started to get into the whole hot tenting thing I’m usually on a trail for a couple weeks but have also grew up camping so I’m looking for something that covers both. Any thoughts about light gear?
@Erik Carey for light weight hot tenting gear I really can’t comment beside the Cheapest hot tent from Amazon. I think it weighs less than 4 pounds and it’s a nice little tent. If you want some real world reviews for light weight hot tent gear including light weight stoves go check out It’s Good in the Woods. He’s been using the mini peak(I think) for a couple seasons now and a Seek outside stove which is a light weight stove. For sleeping bag, if you don’t have one, I use a 0 degree F OutdoorVitals down filled Summit bag. I’ve been using it for almost 4 years now I think. It’s been great. For a light weight sleeping pad I use my UberLite but it has little to no R Value lol so I boost that with reflectants and that seems to work for me. But I think they make an insulated Uberlite now or get an insulated pad. Definitely a good saw. My favorite saws are silky saws and they come in a variety of sizes and weights so you can pick one that best suits you. I used to use an Agawa Canyon Boreal 21 but then I got a silky and haven’t use a bow saw since lol. But either would work. Also look into a sled. Makes it a whole lot easier to move gear and heavier gear. Alway suggest having a smoke and CO detector whenever using a heat source in a tent. Shit happens and it’s better to have it and not need it then need it and not have it.
@@AdventureswithSpackmann as far as gear goes got it all was just wondering about a lightweight stove I’m probably going to go with the Amazon hot tent but I’ll definitely check out the link for that stove thanks happy new year!!

@Jeremiah Pursch oh cool. I’ve always wanted to travel to California.
For the floor matting, does the installation instruction mention which side is upper or bottom ?? Did you check it out ??
@Lord Diablo I watched their video and I think mine was setup up the same. So maybe the floor is designed that way. Thanks for watching
I just had my Stovehut 70 up in mild - moderate rain for 3 days and it leaked in the same spot yours did.....even after the redesign. : (
@Chesapeake Hammock and Outdoors oh no! That sucks. I’m sorry to hear.
This is the very first version. They have made many changes since my testing. Thanks for watching

@Corey Gunzzz #makeithappenBRO!!!! Lmao thanks for watching bro! How crazy would that be!
Checked review out as another you tuber possibly sending me this as was to small for them. Look like be fun one to test
I wasn’t a fan of this one. Leaked way too much and it is small. You can’t get out of the rain lol. Thanks for watching
@@AdventureswithSpackmann gonna use it like a tarp shelter think what was designed for 🤷♀️ free will test it out
@@AdventureswithSpackmannso guessing should seem seal and spray it? Do you think solve its issues?
Would you recommend the chalet 70 or stove hut 70 for a 1st timer's hot tent?
@Feeelinfroggy2 yeah it does! A few inches higher and wider, it may have made all the difference. Thanks for watching Tiff!
What is a great solo hot tent and if you have a good one with a floor that would be better cause I camp in az and OREGON
Thanks for watching.
thanks man
@Grampaw Terry you’re welcome and thanks for watching
Nope. Thanks for being a trustworthy source Chris!! I liked the looks of this but no Bueno on the size!
@Backpacking with Buckley thanks bro! You’re welcome. Thanks for watching
@Dotty McCarren 100 acres!!! Sounds amazing! I wish I could be there tester too. It’s so much fun. Maybe one day I’ll get there.
Seam tape is right don't want water coming in from bottom if raining and water runs underneath.
@Joe Nolen yeah that’s what others have said as well. I just haven’t seen that before. Thanks for watching
Hmm weird that pomoly is having qc issues. Great looking tent but weird that there qc is not so great right now
@nd predator it is weird. I think they need to redesign those vents. Thanks for watching bro
I think the seam tape should be inside that way water running underneath can't weaken it and enter over time....
@Chesapeake Hammock and Outdoors that’s a good point. Maybe that’s why.
ya. i think the seam tape should be inside whether it's up or down. on my regular 3 season tent i always put the optional footprint seam tape up so as to not get the dirt stuck in the seam tape.
@zzppaa007 ah that makes sense with the dirt. Thanks for watching
Hey, its 2024- is this tent any better? I just got mine for my birthday but wanted to know any precautions I should take before using it in a downpour
No clue if they have updated this one or not. Highly suggest seam sealing before taking out in the rain. Thanks for watching
@@AdventureswithSpackmann I used some Nikwax tent wax spray, but I'll go ahead and order some sealant too just in case. Thanks for replying so quick! :)
@@alfredosoup welcome, have fun.
Almost got the pomoly traveler one but wanted a fold up one and theirs didn’t come with pipe for the price. Was on a budget used Christmas bonus at work for it and want to get out and camp.

Where u at
@Justin Wolfe upstate Ny, where you at? Thanks for watching
Hey spackman I’m in upstate ny maybe you could give me some pointers for my area
@Erik Carey hey man! Sure, what are you looking for?
@Erik Carey happy new year to you too!

Too small and leaky.

@Floyd Lee Mullins II I agree! Thanks for watching bro
I see, yea, not looking good. I wonder if the new version leaks just as bad

More comments please
@Justin Wolfe how much wood could a wood chuck chuck?
I guess this tent gets a spackmann thumbs down, but the price leaves room to make some adjustments at home and you can end up with a ok tent
@Frank Pet3 yeah that’s about right! The price is good and leaves room for sealer at home. Thanks for watching

Dude it’s time you get a white lab coat for these videos. Your scientific techniques are undeniable. I miss the little yellow caution work zone sign triangle thing you used use. They might as well pay you as an independent quality control firm. They either hate you or owe you for rescuing them from a lot pissed of people that bought their stuff.
@Mobile Winter Camp lmao next test video I hope I remember my lab coat!!! I have one cause I’m a scientist for my job lol. I was just talking about my Genius at Work sign and how it would have been perfect in the stove pipe video. It’s in my work shop and it’s a mess from remodeling our basement over the past 6+months. I need to get that back in there too. They hate me(I’m guessing) cause they haven’t sent me a tent before they released it yet for testing lol. Only after they sold them. PS I’m not a scientist I have a lab coat from the haunted trail lmao. Thanks for watching
