Garnet did always have the stars on her gauntlets, but her design did change after she was poofed and reformed in the S1 finale! As did Pearl's when she poofed in Steven the Swordfighter.
"Sworn to the Sword" is one of the classic SU episodes. I love it when SU takes these sudden, darker turns that we don't expect. During "Do it for Her/Him", I loved both of your shocked reactions to when Pearl sings, "Concentrate! Don't you want him to live?" We have this nice cute story going on and all of a sudden it veers into darker territory (thanks Pearl, jk). Episodes like "Maximum Capacity", "On the Run", and "Rose's Scabbard" are other classic examples of this. And it just works so well every time. Also, Paula, nice work pointing out that in relative terms, Rose's disappearance really did basically happen yesterday for the Gems. Humans and Gems have similarities but are also different and that's important to remember. Glad to see y'all liked "Rising Skies / Crashing Tides". It sometimes gets a bit hated on because of its slower pace and how it retreads events we've already seen. But I like the comedy in the episode and it's nice to get a sense of what different boardies really think of the Crystal Gems.
I don't mind the slower pace of "Rising Skies / Crashing Tides" at all. I hate on it because it focuses so much on Ronaldo, who is exceptionally good at making things un-fun.
@@augustrempelewert4377 Fair enough. I get people who don't like Ronaldo but for me, I find him to (mostly) be good fun, especially to laugh at. I think he's used well here and in "Keep Beach City Weird". So it was nice to see that Kat and Paula found the episode and Ronaldo entertaining as well. And it was nice that Kat even pointed out that Ronaldo has a bit of wholesomeness to him with how he praised PeeDee's camera-work. But yeah, I don't think we're necessarily supposed to like Ronaldo, so that's valid to dislike him or episodes he's in. I just appreciate it when people have a different reaction to him because the dislike seems to be so much more common.
19:42 "Very much made by someone who probably lives with a cat?" Yup! Rebecca Sugar DOES own a cat named Lion, whose mannerisms inspired the magic pink Lion we know from SU!
Sworn to the Sword always kicks my heart's ass. You mentioned SU is kind of a comfort series, for me I keep visiting the UNcomfort episodes that leave me in tears. lol
My favorite thing about the documentary episode is that Renaldo thought it fitting to include his little spiral at the end. The story would've been complete without it and he could've spun it as a win even if he went to plead with the Crystal Gems off camera. But he included it anyway
The gems change their outfits every time the get poofed. Maybe a spoiler below. Except for one I can think of but that character hasn’t been introduced yet. And also that character looks different for other reasons after they’re poofed.
Unpopular opinion: I LOVE Rising Tides! Mostly because it has my favorite Steven line reading of the whole series: "hmmm... only if YOU... participate in a glass of fresh-squeezed lemonaaade!" Makes me grin EVERY time. I don't much like Ronaldo, but I LOVE the Ronaldo episodes because of the way everyone else plays off of him.
Garnet was broken apart and re-formed, so her for is slightly different. Just like when a gem is poofed like Amethyst in the first episode. Also, Pearl's design was different in the end of the episode where she was poofed.
Season 2 has some bangers that I feel like I always forget about. Reformed is so huge for Amethyst and her arc, Sworn to the Sword is so heartbreaking, and the Ronaldo one... might be the only good Ronaldo episode lol
*[Yess! This Pearl episode is just AMAZING and the song is really emotional too...]*

Was just about to comment the same thing!

One of my favorite songs. ... mind you, I have a lot of favorite SU songs.

Fun tidbit: Rebecca Sugar and their partner Ian Jones-Quartey have a cat named Lion.
I love Connie episodes. Connie and Steven have the most functional relationship in the whole show.
Rose/Steven has been alive/dead for 0.2% of Amethyst’s life (less for Pearl). For a regular 75 year old human life that would be almost 2 months.

Good point. I guess that earns Ronaldo a LITTLE bit of respect.

Paula jumping in asking for a like on the video when she did. She was on it!
Onion the little chaos demon 😄

F*ck pork chops! 😆 that's it, exactly. "Sworn to the Sword" is my husband's favorite episode (and song) so I'm glad you enjoyed it.
Relationship goals? Sword + Shield
It's "If every porkchop were perfect, we wouldn't have hotdogs", Paula. 🤦♂️😆

Looking ahead and the next streak is the best series. every other episode in season two is absolutely amazing
this set was 57-58, I'd say the next weak episode is 90.

"Rising Tides, Crashing Skies" is one of the worst episodes, imo.
