It is always a big day when the kitchen installation begins!!
Chris has some expert tips on how to install an Ikea kitchen well, including how he installs cabinets for a kitchen island to ensure they are secure to the floor.
Chris is also continuing to install the LVT wood-look flooring, and we are so excited to check floors installed off our list this week!
And Finally...
I noticed an issue with the windows that I could not unsee! Thankfully, I already had the perfect black paint picked out. Wait until you see how we transformed the horrible massive bulkhead into a feature in this kitchen remodel.
It has been another exciting week of home renovation for us, and we are so excited to have the finish line in sight!!

Good call on the window trim color, Heather. I didn't notice before, but like you said, now I can't un-see it! I had asked before why the blank space to the left of the arched opening couldn't be a pantry. But I completely forgot about the depth of the cabinets on the other wall. Now I get it. Both sides of the arch bar area will be symmetrical. Chris making a fork. Too funny! The black bullnose on the stairs will tie in nicely with the spindles, the window trim, and the beam.
Those windows right!?! So glad I caught that :) yes those cabinets are so deep, I am so glad I did not sneak another cabinet in there, the arch is just getting better and better! Chris, can solve any problem lol! Even a missing fork! Thanks so much for always watching Cyndi! Chris and I look forward to your comments every week :)

Why not put cabinets on the floor finish? Is it just same cost on flooring?
Chris here! not at all!! This is a floating floor, which means the cabinets would not be sitting on a fixed finish, which would not be a very sturdy install. The flooring manufacturer recommends not to install cabinets on it as well. It will all be covered by toekick so it won’t be visible, and it is the right way to do it with this floor :) Thanks for asking!! Any more construction questions I am happy to answer!
