Definitely have to make one of these - winter in my shop gets cold but I forget to stoke the fire as I work on projects until the fire has died down and it’s getting cold again! Never brazed so will follow the link to your other video. Thanks!
A very underrated tool and a great, no fiddly process, introduction to forge braising because its self supporting. Thanks for sharing and Happy new year
There is a link in the description of a video that shows the entire process of melting the copper wire that I use to braze pieces together. I do need to update it but I melted the camera that I used to get this shot so I've been putting it off.
I've added links to related videos in the description. I have an old video that showed the brazing process close up as well as other videos I thought you may be interested in. Thanks for watching.
I'm thinking it wouldn't be that hard to flare out the mouthpiece from the end of the pipe as an alternative approach. Depends on whether the seem weld in the pipe holds up i suppose!
@jackdawg4579 I was thinking the same thing but where would the material come from for a decorative handle? Waste a lot of pipe getting that material isolated. He mentioned, the mouthpiece could have also been another metal. A flare would only work in a very basic tool with no style.
@jackdawg4579 Then you waste 6 inches of pipe, and you may get away with flaring the pipe with the seam, beating on it so much to refine that handle you risk separating that seam. It's also a good way to get rid of the thousands of scrap pieces in the pile that build up.
A recommended video by UA-cam so i subscribed again. I was a subscriber a few years back but unsubscribed durring the million part series on making the lock. I subscribed for the blacksmithing and don't mind a video off topic here & there, but what was there... 29 parts to that lock video and i seriously lost interest. Please don't get that far side tracked again.

@@Jarvis30 just have a similar tail left on the pipe when you cut it off as he does on the flat bar ?
