How to treat Macular Hole (English)

Macular Hole is one of the common Vitreo-Retinal conditions managed by us. Unless treated timely, Macular Hole can lead to loss of vision. Though many cases of Macular Holes need surgery, but, few can be managed non-surgically too. The steps of surgery also vary depending on the case. These decisions are based on the latest IVTS classification of Macular Holes. This video explains this classification and shows examples of different "Types" of Macular hoiles and how the treatment vary.

Hi there! Don't worry. Macular holes unless very large in size or very old, usually do close with recovery of vision, post surgery! All the best 🙏

Hi, I am 31 years old, some accidenti got mecular hole in my right eye, what treatment I have to under go. Since 12th Nov 2023 onwards I am having this problem.

Sir, i am 40yr old, having. CSR, distorted vision, irregular waives in grid, images having shadows, and an ovel shape spot appears with blinking of eye lid. Colors also apears dull. Image scale is also shorter than other eye. Left & right side of square is skew from centre of its length.

Lamellar Holes that too non-tractional holes, can be observed. Please consult a retina specialist

Are steroid drops required for Macular hole surgery? Some folks have a lot of trouble with prednisone, etc.

It depends on your sugeon's preference. Most of the time after MICROINCISIONAL VITRECTOMY strong steroids can be avoided or given for just initial few days. Thank you 😊

Yes!, Strict Face down positioning is not necessary! We usually dont force it!

@@selfloveisthebestlove5244 in our centre it takes around 15-20 minutes. We don't insist on facedown positioning beyond 5 days. With the ILM flap techniques surgical success rate is high even in large holes, without long facedown positioning 🙏

We don't have access to Ocriplasmin in India. So I have no personal experience with that drug! Sorry!
