I happened upon McKinney thinking we would stay for a week and make our way to DFW. This was the best stop I ever made. Now it is our new home. Craig Ranch is amazing. The shopping centers are plentiful. Kind people offering help and knowledge about the neighborhood are everywhere we go. The people who run and work at the apartment locations in McKinney - specifically Craig Ranch are so kind and friendly. It is a different world compared to Illinois. I could never go back. Not even if they paid all of my expenses and bought us a house. Landed a job in Frisco within 6 days of being here. I love McKinney and feel like this was meant to be our home.
Sorry Brian de Dark I would have to disagree...the lower income, far east McKinney, is being rebuilt as more investors, developers are buying land on that side as well as buying out homes and fixing them up. Problem is that there's also current homeowners that are not maintaining their properties and don't want to sell. If they have money to buy nice cars, then they have money to at least maintain their yards and paint outside of their homes. The rehab store in Mckinney sells paint and supplies for cheaper than you would pay for two movie theater tickets with concessions. A lot of it is plain old lazziness. Now as far as the streets, the city is already fixing up many of the older streets but the rest is still in the works. Been to the older side recently and seen workers installing fiber, fixing streets/sidewalks, planting trees etc.they are also building a cr$p load of new retail off of 380 by older side. I moved from the older side to newer side (near Adriatica/frisco far west 3 years ago and what I noticed is that on West side of McKinney people bust their arse to make their properties look nice. When I lived on the older east side I had a lot of lazy neighbors that didn't want to mow their yard or make any effort whatsoever to fix things like their fence (Stain, Hammer and nails doesn't cost much). But nope...instead U would see them driving expensive cars while their properties fell apart.

Would be nice if McKinney MUD District citizens would be treated the same as McKinney City residents and not have restrictions as we do now at City Business "case and point" the aquatic center to name one.

I think here in McKinney diversity means - having different things to do with your family. nothing to do with wokeness. This town does not appear to be so politically charged with rhetoric. I almost went to DFW. Thank God the Good Lord lead us here instead! (I'm biracial African/Hungarian and my son is Both + Mexican.) People have been nothing but helpful since we arrived. I have received more help and guidance here, than I ever did spending 40+ years in the awful state of Illinois. We are Blessed to have made this our new home.
A lot of smiling, happy (wealthy) people in these pictures. All proposed 'improvements' are in already upper class areas. The more run-down, lower income sections seem to remain lost in the shuffle. Even in the video when he mentions the parks in need of improvements, it seems like a half-measure that will only happen if there's money left over. Davis at the Square seems like a good idea on the surface however, without improving the streets surrounding that area, it most likely will not have the desired effect. I voted for this guy over Randy Pogue because I thought he had ALL of McKinney's best interest at heart...turns out he's just another money making politician who will say anything to get elected. McKinney is on the rise but only for the white and wealthy.

The house I just bought has a pool for that very reason
