- Pt. 7 of exploring the Kitchener style essences through makeup and today is all about the DRAMATIC essence which has a bold and powerful energy. You may come across as intimidating, driven, and extroverted. Dramatics are the most yang (sharp and angular) and can pull off super bold looks.

I’m a dramatic and you nailed the blush. I know even for everyday if I want to wear eyeshadow that will even look like eyeshadow it has to be 12 shades darker than most people would be comfortable with but when I put it on it just looks at home on my face. So I think you did better on the eyes than you think.
That’s actually so interesting!!
So true! I start out thinking I'll do a soft look and but turns out I can never get my outer corner dark enough 😅
I don’t want this series to be over! I’m really enjoying it!
I’m kinda sad too! What now? 😂
Me either!
@@evangelinemollypair with wardrobe seasons!
So excited to see this! I feel like we are similar in that dramatic makes us look quite overdone bc it’s not our essence. It doesn’t look bad, but I always feel like I’m wearing a costume when I go overboard. I think dramatic essence trends hard and is the aesthetic most people do online. Took me until I was 30 to realize it’s not for me. I think it’s bc natural is my dominant essence. I’ve never heard of the lost essence so I’m super excited!!
I found a YT channel that puts a dark aesthetic on all the essences called silkymochi and I think it’s right up your alley!
It trends SO HARD online. Especially IG and TikTok which I find frustrating because they’re the only posts that do well and I don’t really want to be going this bold everyday.
I found silkymochi during this research. I love her approach! I haven’t watched too many videos yet but I definitely plan to!
thank you for sharing this!! I'm loving the aesthetic & chill of silkymochi immediately and so excited to have more to binge watch
That makeup could really make for an amazing photoshoot. Like long dress, old castle, dark fantasy vibes... I think video preview here is the most beautiful in that series, but it does indeed look somewhat weird when you smile and talk.
Omg yesss! That would be so cool
Very Angelica Huston! 🖤🥀🖤🥀
Omg totally!
I loved it!🥰 It reminds me of the makeup in Moulin Rouge! It definitely looks dramatic, but the glitter eyeshadow, gloss, and red lips add a bit of Romantic and Ethereal too, which is why I think the look works in the end. It feels like one of those transformations in a fantasy movie where a character shifts from good to bad, with a more intense and mysterious style. Your Ethereal essence softens the Dramatic somehow. As you said, if the colors were softer, it would definitely suit your essence better, but I still think it looks gorgeous. Ethereals and Dramatics share the elongation in their lines, but they’re opposites in everything else. I feel like when you wear the opposite essence, it creates a stronger and more theatrical effect. For example, when someone with Ingenue or Ethereal essence wears Dramatic lines, it looks intentional, not necessarily bad, just very striking, and that’s what I think this look does to you.
The Classic and Natural looks felt like they were missing something, like a mystical and otherworldly touch. The Ingenue and Gamine looks were whimsical but needed a more mature, understated, and timeless vibe. The Dramatic and Romantic looks added boldness and drama. The Romantic worked really well because you have lush, rounded features like your lips and cheeks, but it still lacked the weightless, angelic vibe of Ethereal.
Sorry for the long comment, but I love this topic! It’s so amazing how we can stop molding ourselves to a particular beauty standard and instead explore more universal types of beauty. It’s really refreshing and freeing. Thank you for this series! I can’t wait to hear your final thoughts on your essences! 😍😊✨
Ooh yes this is definitely the character shifting to the dark side kind of makeup!! Thanks for all the input. You really broke it down well! I love how everyone has felt like this series is about celebrating diverse beauty, rather than trying to box people in, because that was definitely my intention! ❤️❤️❤️
@evangelinemolly Absolutely, would love to see more content like this 😊👏🏻
I'm a dramatic and I love how you talk through your decisions. I definitely gravitate toward angular high contrast everything from asymmetric clothes to hair cuts to jewelry to eyebrow and shadow shapes. Now I understand why! 🖤
So fun!!
I like it Evangeline! I think you can pull off most any look! It would be spectacular for an event, but I miss your amazing hair not spilling down everywhere because it is such an outstanding feature of yours! I’m glad to hear that Toasty’s tummy is back to normal, sweet boy! 😊
Aw thank you!! I feel like I would like this look better with my hair out haha!
This eye look on you is stunning!!
Thank you so much 🙂
Very excited for the last one! Can not wait to see what you do!
🥰💕
I loved this smoked eye!! Love silver and glitter! I think you have so much ethereal essence that dramatic kind fits a bit more than some others. I understand the smiling changing the effect of the makeup, my eyes tends to disapear when I smile 😂 I experimented dramatic throughout my teenage years and I loved it, but it was way too much 😂 Nowadays, I prefer the lower lashes without liner or eyeshadows, to make things no heavy. Also noticed that my makeup can be neat or playfull in a girly way.
Ooh yes I love that hack of keeping the lower lash line bare. It really makes a look more wearable!!
I’m glad Toastie is better!! He’s so sweet ❤😊
🐶💓
I'm definitely a dramatic, but with some classic and ethereal mixed it. I find that I feel my best when I strike the right balance between the three. I have a feeling I'm going to like the lost essence 🌟. I really enjoyed this little series!
Same and agreed!!
Oooh what a great blend, like adding those touches of sparkle and balance to soften a dramatic look 😍
@@evangelinemolly Exactly! Can never go wrong with some sparkle 😄. By the way, I'm sure you've been told this before but you have a soft and elegant voice that is very pleasant to listen to ☺.
Love this look, you look so fierce! I agree that it works kind of against your features when you smile.
I love a dramatic look like this on myself, I love a really overextended outer v and a high-contrast smokey eye. I have very round eyes, tho', so I also extend the shadow in the crease and on the lower lashline right at the center of the eye to bring back some roundness. With my blush, I usually do the shape you demoed here but also mirror it where you'd typically place a contour product, so essentially a triangle shape (I hope that made sense😂). That blush placement kind of softens my sharp cheekbones (especially with a shimmery or dewy blush) and makes me look less intense/intimidating. When I want to lean into a more intense look (you might even call it gaunt? sickly, maybe?) I like to do dramatic eyes and lips without any blush.
I think Chappell has a Gamine essence. She looks great in outfits that would read childish on other people (like the ones she wears in the Casual music video) but that still have some shape/structure to them. As a Gamine myself, I think the mix of strong yin and yang features almost give us a shape-shifting quality that makes it possible to play up either the softness or the sharpness of our features.
Oooh yes I think you’re totally right about Chappell! She just looks so good in all those quirky looks and outfits.
The next essence “oneiric” actually has gauntness as one of the features to lean into!
Yay! I'm glad Toasty's feeling better!
Ooh ya it does have an early 00s feel!! I couldn’t seem to figure out the right lip tone especially with the pink blush
Oh, it’s GIVING. I love seeing how a higher placement of blush changes your face shape.
Dramatic looks work for me, but I feel like leaning into ethereal or romantic feels more right (for me). When I was in my twenties I got a few comparisons to Cher (which was such flattery) but not since I’ve stopped wearing contacts. Because I was a teen during the 80s, the look you did today was very familiar. You could be on a Roxy Music album cover! (Okay that was 70s, but the look wasn’t popularized until the 80’s. I think you’d feel more comfortable with loose, wild hair, crimped and slightly disco. (I guess that’s kind of Chappel Roan’s hair now that I think of it). This amplifies contrast, and I think you’re more at home with softer contrast in your makeup…loving this series!
it’s very robert palmer’s band girls
Oooh disco hair with this would slay!!! It’s so interesting how blush placement can change one’s face so much! Being compared to Cher is so flattering 😍
What series can we look forward to next, oh talented one? 👏🏼👏🏼
Aww haha I’ve been thinking about that. Maybe star signs? Elements? If you have any ideas, pop them below!
So pretty!😊
I've been loving this series so much, you are such a chameleon -- you look fantastic in sooo many looks/levels of intensity. watching you is true makeup therapy
Aw thank you! I’m so glad you’ve been liking this series!
What a fun look to play with 😀 so glad toasty is feeling better 😀☺💕
🐶💕
Sorry for not being constant, but this LOOKS SO STUNNING ON YOU!!! WHEN YOU SMILE IT BECOMES SO STRIKING!!! SUPER SUITS YOU
Ahhh thank you!! I think it was mostly the hair that threw me off!
Gorgeous!!!❤❤
I’ve been looking forward to this one! I think you could definitely have some dramatic in your blend but I think ethereal and romantic are your dominant essences. In other words you are absolutely Aphrodite coded 😂💖🐚✨
Aww such a high compliment!
Omg this look on youuu 😍😍
ive been waiting for this one! i see myself in this style a lot. i love your videos
From your little profile picture I totally see that!! 🔥
Excited for the recap video
You look absolutely amazing! You make this look almost effortless, if that makes sense?
Wow I’m flattered! 🥰
I really love this look!
Thank you!
You looked straight 🔥 Really enjoyed this ❤
Thank you! 😊
@ You’re welcome 😊 You are a gorgeous lady, and I love your vibe! ❤️
This is the one I’ve been waiting for 🎉😅!
It’s definitely a super fun essence!
Yay! It's such a treat when you post a video, can't wait to watch it tonight! I've been loving this series and from the thumbnail it looks like the final look turned out amazing, you are so talented and as someone else said you truly are a chameleon because you look amazing in every look! I think I don't have any dramatic essence in me but it looks so fun, of course, Cher had to be referenced in this video, she's fabulous, I also think of other iconic amazing women like Diana Vreeland, Marchesa Casati, I also feel like Tilda Swinton has some dramatism in her style, I love how she mixes her bare ethereal beauty with very avant-garde bold fashion!
Oh yes they all have some bold dramatic essence! What icons!! 😍
its so funny because this is the exact look i adore but didnt know it had a technical term, your video just popped up. lovely work!! would love it if you would consider doing a more toned down version for everyday? ❤
I would love to do a look like this again just a touch softer. Maybe for an NYE look!
This would work as an almost everyday look for someone with natural essence, it wouldn't feel too much on them. On others it can work but for a special occasion because it would feel way more dressed up, like for a new year's eve party or something like that.
Ya definitely it’s high glam for anyone who doesn’t have dramatic essence!
loveee it ❤
This look is so good on you!!
Thank you!!! 😊 💕
I loved this on u but also love super natural makeup
Ya it can be fun just for the pure effect of it but not practical for every day… or maybe it is for some people, in which case kudos to them!!
I think if you let your hair down, this would be a 100/10 look on you! Your eyes are glooowwwwiinnng. Glad Toasty is feeling better!
Ya I agree the hair just made it a touch too severe for me! 🐶💓
Such a fun series! I’m hoping for more series’ after this.
I love doing a series as it keeps the inspiration flowing!
I really like the look but I agree with you about it not working when you smile. I would love to see it with a more natural or romantic inspired hairstyle.
Agreed! It needs some more romantic hair, and I would round out the edges of the eye instead!
I'm lost in the spectrum 🤣
I'm deeply in love with your hair color 😊💕
Hahha it’s a lot at first. Hopefully the recap will help piece it together. I did it out of order!
Can you please do a few holiday party looks? One with a softer smoky eye type look, and maybe one with a more shimmery understated eye with a red lip?
This series was so good! Thank you for creating for all of us
I was planning to do both those types of looks actually!!
@ yay! Thank you!
The blush placement?! It is perfect on you!
Ooh thanks! I’m not used to it 🫣
Wash it off!? No way! You look like a boss 😊
Hahah maybe it was the hair throwing me off the most!
I’m for site dramatic, also my star sign is cancer so I guess i’m double dramatic 😂 loveeeee the smokey sharp eye 😍
I’m a Cancer sun with Sagittarius rising! So dramatic..😂 Let’s start a support group!
Hahhaa all the drama!
I'm a dramatic and romantic mix, and I have loved this series so much.
Ooh a great mix! Beyoncé is a dramatic romantic 🔥
I love these essence videos, that you make! 💜
They brought up a lot of interesting topics for me. For example: I always felt like a 🤡 when I put lipstick on, especially red, even in my late 20's, I used pinks and nude colors close to my natural lip color.
The feeling of "looking like a kid, who wears lipstick" dissapeared, when I started using dark berry and purple colors. And all of a sudden, I felt comfortable wearing lipstick. Is this mean I have dramatic essence hidden in me?
Ahh interesting!! I would say it might be more that you found a colour season that worked better for you, and possibly you have a classic essence with the undertone of something that can handle more bold shades like dramatic or romantic!
@@evangelinemolly Thank you for youre answer and input❣️ You gave new direction ideas for my "style journey".
Rewatching the videos about the mentioned essences, made me realise, that, when I do my make up, I usually put the biggest focus on my eyes (I always feel better when I have a winged eyeliner darwn on and I also like to experiment with colors), but at the same time, since my lipstick discovery, it just became clear to me, that it is important to me, that the feature on which I use make up on, turn into the focus point of the wiever.
I don't like pastels or gold, they make me look washed out.
I’m so glad this has helped you on your style journey! It really is a never ending creative process 💕
You just nailed me as an Aries on my birthday 🤣
Jokes aside, you look amazing - even if this isn’t something you gravitate towards.
Haha love that! Fire energy!
😮 This looks soooo good on you
Please do a look combining dramatic and ethereal and romantic I believe that would be soo cool and sexy and lovely on you. Also super excited for the next 'episode'
Ooh yes, it would be fun to combine all kinds of essences now that I have a grasp of them!
This series is so fun! I’m inclined to agree with how you felt about it. Like there’s something working, my guess is the boldness, but a full dramatic look doesn’t come naturally and contradicts some of the softness in your features. I haven’t seen a lot of either of you so I might be wrong but I feel like there’s an overlapping vibe between you and Cher? Maybe it’s not the dramatic? But if it is I feel like the sprinkle of dramatic you have is similar to what she has if that makes sense
I definitely see that overlap with Cher a bit! It would be fun to get a black wig and try out some of her iconic looks! I would love to try a look like this again with the same amount of smokiness but with rounded shapes and different blush placement!
@ That would be so fun!!!
this eye look is great on you! maybe this is more suited for you than you think :)
Aw thanks! Maybe for a very glam night and with different hair!
You really did start channeling the dramatic essence once you got into flow. I actually love this look on you, maybe you have like 10% dramatic. Just a whisper lol.
Haha I feel that! Just the tiniest dash for some ✨spice✨
I like dramatic makeup and my personality is dramatic. I've been told that I'm intimidating and used to always be told to smile more SMH I smile when I have a reason. But, I'm not sure I fit the description of a dramatic. I also felt like I fit in the romantic one in a way. I'm so confused 😂 ❤❤
Ultimately, our personal taste and personality trumps essence I think… because these are just fun guidelines after all 💕 If you want to play between dramatic and romantic, perhaps use rounded shapes in your bold looks rather than sharp shapes!
@evangelinemolly agreed! Thank you!
Kitchener essences are so strange. Quizzes I take never give me dramatic as a top result and yet dramatic makeup is the only style that actually works with my features instead of making me look like I either didn’t do any makeup or look like a 12 year old who’s just started out doing makeup 😅😅
I’ve tried a couple quizzes and I found some of the questions really strange! If dramatic works for you, just go with it! It probably is your dominant essence.
@@evangelinemolly yes!! The thing I realised about Kibbe and Kitchener that it’s honestly just based on ✨ vibes✨ hahaha
I feel like I’ve learned I’m dramatic and ethereal and a third that I lean towards gamine? 🤷🏻♀️ even if I try to do a natural more toned down makeup look i end up with bold eyes or a bold lip but i consider myself a bright and so it’s usually colorful and i definitely look better emphasizing my cupid’s bow, this series has been great and glad Toasty is feeling better
Most people have a blend of about 3. That sounds like a super fun combo!!
❤❤❤❤
I think the makeup looked beautiful but maybe not dramatic enough for what you had in mind. If I was going to offer one piece of constructive criticism it would be to go darker with the eyebrows and really do an arch that extends out. It would add lots of drama without needing to do a vampy lip. ❤
Ooh yes a super extended brow would have worked with this eyeshadow shape really well!
Okay yes this is me 😅 I’ve been trying to figure it out this entire series and yes I’m dramatic with maybe a little something else mixed in
Yay!
not me finding out i might have dramatic essence through this video…
Yay! You can pull off the bold looks easily!
This look is giving the women in Robert Palmer's video for Simply Irresistible to me. I think you can pull it off really well if you ever need to look slightly unapproachable or just want to have fun with it. My face style is more like eternal baby face. Every time I try to do my eyes up, it is hilariously bad, and I've given up. I hadn't really thought about it, but maybe more than just having SERIOUS hoods, dramatic looks just don't fit my physical appearance. Something to chew on as I'm in middle age and don't give any more effs what anyone else thinks, and am still unable to achieve certain looks without feeling ridiculous.
Omg I definitely see what you’re saying about the Robert Palmer video!
Hopefully you can still having fun not giving a f*ck but finding ways to wear makeup and create looks that just make you feel great! 💕
I'm so Michele Lamy level dramatic, I just look silly without an ash tray eye look.
Oh gosh I love that!
@@evangelinemolly 🥰
Such a sexy look! You are stunning! I know it’s not your go-to, but you look absolutely gorgeous 💛
Thanks so much!!
I think this look is beautiful on you. You might have a bit of dramatic in you!
Aw thanks!!
